Which Do YOU Prefer??

My friend DeAnn is an artist.  She is involved at two community art centers--one in Faribault and one in Zumbrota.  One of the activities she has recently been engaged in is a pairing of a poet and an artist--the poet writes a poem and the artist does a piece of art inspired by the poem.

Here's the Poem.

Eating Fish

Yesterday, the fishermen's hands

Held living silver.

Blood fingers ran the length of ribs

Raking cold bone.

Along the shore slivers of ice chimed:

Char. Taken.

 

It may be the cook believes in no god.

Governed alone by taste

His faith lies firm in the foil with butter,

A sprinkle of basil,

Lies firm in labor, good love and loam,

The largess of the world.

 

Tomorrow, the child will come

Curious to the table.

She'll ask how far to ocean shoals

Or icy river,

Remembering her plate, the singing flesh,

A flash of silver in her eyes.

DeAnn asked me which I preferred.  I asked if it was okay to put the pictures up on my live journal to see if others agreed with me or with her.  Heh heh.  Yes, we each preferred different ones.

Vote for Yellow Plate or Pink Plate.

          

While you are at it, comment on the poem.  I think it is depressing.  


EDIT:  Fixed the color of the plate.  Duh.  It's pink, not blue!

I like the one on the right best! The colors are more striking. I agree with Cho - the Poem is kinda morbid and depressing!!

It is a depressing poem.

I like the pink plate. I like the more realistic fish, more silver and I like the expression on the face. I also think the waves look better. I like the knife instead of the fork.

It's funny--I preferred the pink plate also. DeAnn likes the whimsy of the yellow plate--but I don't think the poem is whimsical.
