It's great you get a day off to sleep in. Bummer your kids miss a day for their oral presentations.
We don't get snow days here. Very rarely is there a closing because of heat (few schools are air conditioned.) The last time school closed was during the bad fires we had. School was closed for a week because of all of the ash in the air. Air quality was so bad businesses closed; the local government told everyone to just stay home for a week, stay indoors, stay off of the roads. And they did. The city looked deserted.
I kept the dog in with me. He enjoyed that.
I cleaned dusted and waxed the built in "entertainment" center along my front window. And a lot of my boxes waiting for recycling went to school to pack all of the books with bad barcodes that have to go to the Instructional Media Center to get fixed. 600+ books. And I had to pull and box them all. And when they're fixed...guess who has to put them back on the shelves?
And the custodians had to come in to school a day early and wash down everything before the students returned.
Oh, and it was 76 degrees today, sunny and clear. I wore a t-shirt to school.
