This morning's sunrise....

This morning's sunrise was spectacular.  I wish I could have taken more pictures--but I was on Highway 14, and pulling over to take one picture was risky enough.

It's a little fuzzy due to taking it without a flash--but look at that color!  I love the look of sillhouettes of farm buildings and trees against a rising or setting sun.

On the way home, I took some pictures to show how ugly the ass end of winter can be....

The snow is all dirty and scummy now.  It either needs to melt away completely or we need some fresh and pretty white snow.

This is one of those interesting little places that my inner child would like to play in.  I like that tree.  If I were ten years old, I would crawl up into that tree with some Barbie dolls and pretend they were the swiss family robinson.

There is a cross out there, just to the left of the tree, apparently made out of old fence posts.  I'm pretty sure it doesn't mark the spot that someone died in a car accident as it is quite a ways off the road--I suppose it could mark the location of a fatal farm mishap....but it seems unlikely.

It could be a pet cemetary.  Or just mark the grave of some beloved pet.  Maybe a large one, like a horse, since the cross is so big.  I notice it every time I drive by.  I've been thinking that I should take pictures of some of these places that cry out to be explored by my inner child--my current self is too old, fat, and crippled to go exploring in these places....sigh.

You take the best pictures.

I love the sunset pic.

And I like the drab, half melted late snow pics too. You have to realize that snow is a novelty you visit when you live in So. Cal. Whenever I see it it pretty much looks like that. Not even enough for angels or tiny persons of snow.

I agree I think the cross is for a pet. Probably a cow or horse. It probably passed while resting in the cool shade of that tree and was buried where it lay. I'd like to think it led a long life and was loved. Thus the marker.

Hmm...unlikely it was a cow. We don't keep cows as pets around here. A cow is hamburger or milk to us. LOL.

That is actually sad as cows are the sweetest things. They are very gentle and affectionate, generally, if they are encouraged to socialize with people. Pigs can be very affectionate and playful too. Pigs are much like dogs in many ways--we had one when we were kids that would play fetch.

If it was a large pet, it was probably a horse.

That was a sunrise picture--I just found the colors amazing.
