Writer's Block: Internal Assets

[Error: unknown template qotd]How many organs do you actually have that you could part with?  Seriously.  The only thing I have an extra of is my kidneys.  Being diabetic, I think I better hang on to both of them.

I wouldn't mind selling a few pints of blood--but then I would feel guilty as it would be more socially appropriate to just donate it for the misfortunate who need it.  Yes, I realize that blood is not an organ.

I could happily give someone some skin or even better--as much breast tissue as they care for.  I have plenty to spare of that.

Nope.

However, I have signed an organ donor card so if there is anything usable after I'm dead, they're welcome to it.

I would never sell my organs, but I'd gladly donate a kidney, part of my liver, a lung, or bone marrow to a family member in need.

I carry an organ donor card (marked "Any usable organs or tissues"), but recently I've looked into donating my whole body to the local medical college for research. If I do that, they can't remove any organs first, so I have to decide what's more important to me -- saving a limited number of lives immediately, or potentially saving many lives in the future through medical research.

And saving my family the cost of a funeral. ;-) The medical college pays for cremation and a container for the ashes when they're done using the body. Then they deliver the ashes to the designated next-of-kin.

Cool.

That's a thought. I want to be cremated anyhow. Let the medical college pay for it. Heh heh. But I want the ashes of all my cats mixed with mine so we can be together forever.
