Saturday, July 25

I folded the last of my laundry and made myself fried eggs and toast for lunch.  I didn't do much else.  My foot is still very sore and hard to walk on.  I don't know what I did to it, but it sure is sore. It has swelled a little bit too.  Ugh.  It's always something.

Sunday, July 26

It's Sunday, so I filled my pill caddy again.  I had to order a refill of one of my prescriptions and the test strips for my glucose monitor.  There was a lovely thunderstorm early in the morning.  It woke me up, but I didn't stay awake long.

Jack and Caleb stopped by my house this morning.  They had bought me two 6 packs of Diet Coke and dropped it off.  Caleb fixed the pull chain on my ceiling fan which has been broken for a month or more.  He also dragged my garbage can out to the curb.  They stayed and visited for quite a while.  Peaches just fawned all over both of them.  She likes people.

Lily called and wanted to come over and get my Shopper so she could look at the grocery ads.  She told me Missy (her cat) just doesn't want to eat, so I offered to give her a couple packets of Sheba to see if that would tempt her.  She went into my bedroom, which is wear I keep that stuff, pulled the light chain, and it pulled right off again.  Sigh.  She tried to fix it, but she is like me--too short.

Lily wanted me to show her how to order a prescription on her phone, so I did that.  She brought a piece of dessert she had made--it has a crust made of Oreo cookies, then a layer of ice cream, a layer of a home made caramel sauce, then cool whip, and finally more Oreo cookie crumbs.  It was pretty good.  I don't really care for the cool whip.  To me, it tastes like nothing.

I spent most of the day in my recliner with my foot elevated.  It still hurts.  I am really tired of it hurting all the time.

Monday, July 27

Today, I cleaned out all the cat trays that I use for Peaches' soft food.  Then I washed my dishes.  I had a can of clam chowder for lunch.  I had some recycling, so I gathered that up and put it in the breezeway bin.

I was surprised to see that a crew from the city spent the whole day cutting down four big trees in the park right across the street from my house. Both sides of the street were blocked off.  There was a big flat bed truck and a couple of boom trucks and a skid loader.  The guy in the boom truck was up so high, it made me dizzy just to look at him. He cut all the branches off the trees until there was nothing left but the trunks.

I don't know why they cut those trees down--they were very lovely and thick and green.  I suppose they had some parasite or bug or something infesting them.  It was interesting to watch how they took down all the branches.  When they quit for the night, it was after 7 pm. There was nothing left but the tall trunks.

This morning, I wrapped a lidocaine patch around the back of my ankle and took a couple of extra strength arthritis formula Tylenol in the morning, and that helped with the pain.  It still hurts, but it isn't as awful as it was.

I spent some money foolishly today.  I have been watching a group of dolls on Etsy--there were two brunette Chatty Cathy dolls and two tiny blonde Chatty Brothers.  All four for $125.  Their "voice boxes" no longer work, but I don't care about that.  They are a little scruffy and need a good cleaning and their hair washed and straightened up, but they look like they are in good shape otherwise.  I had been watching that posting since before all this Corona Virus stuff hit, so it has been months.  No one was interested in them apparently.  They should arrive sometime next week.  I am looking forward to cleaning them up and sewing for them.  A few months ago, I saw a darling little African American Chatty Baby, but she was over a hundred dollars all by herself.  I had a watch on her, but she didn't last long.  Someone snapped her up right away.  I guess they are rare and hard to find.

I pulled a frozen roast out of the freezer to thaw overnight.  I will put it in the oven with potatoes, carrots, and onions tomorrow.

Tuesday, July 28

My sore foot hurt a lot in the night.  The pain was going up the back of my leg like the nerve was inflamed.
I have had issues with the sciatic nerve in the past, so I was a little worried.  But it is after 9:30 pm, and the nerve pain hasn't bothered me since the middle of last night.  My foot is a little swelled up again today, but I am able to bend it with much less pain today  than before.  I put a lidocaine patch on it again today and took the high powered Tylenol again.  It does feel better today.  I am hoping it will be totally recovered by the end of the week.

The city people were back in the park today.  The cut the trunks of the trees down, cut them into chunks, and loaded them onto the big flat bed.  There were three people working--a woman was driving  the truck, and two men were loading up the chunks of trunk.  The guy driving the skid loader was a very skinny guy with a beard practically down  to his belly button.  He must have once been a fat guy because his pants looked about three sizes too big.

I was sitting in my desk chair looking out the window, watching them work, just because it was interesting.  The skinny guy got out of the skid loader to help roll the chunk of log onto the lift thing, and when he bent over to roll it on, his pants dropped to his knees.

He wasn't wearing any underpants, so I got an eye full of his bare rump!  I was pretty surprised by that!  It's not every day that I get mooned--even on purpose, much less by accident!  Poor guy.  I don't think he realized that anyone but his co-workers observed his unintentional free show.  LOL.  I think the last bare male rump I saw was my nephew's back in the day when I changed his diaper.

I put more stuff in the recycling bin in the breezeway today. I cleaned Peaches' litterboxes again, unloaded the dish drainer, and put that beef roast in the oven with its fixings.  I just made myself a healthy lettuce salad for lunch--I was going to cut a cucumber up in it--I had just bought those cucumbers on Friday, and they were already moldy.  That really aggravated me.

In the evening, I ate a plate of the roast beef and let the rest of it cool down for a while.  I put it away in the fridge and did up the few dishes in the sink from last night and today.  I wiped down the two 6-packs of Diet Coke and the one 6-pack of iced tea and put them in my little pop fridge.

I was supposed to take my mother to two appointments tomorrow--one early in the morning for a blood draw, and another at 3:30 pm to see her regular doctor.  I was a little worried about it as the sore foot has made it very difficult to get up steps.  Since we don't go anywhere other than her doctor's appointments, we would have had to go to Albert Lea, come home, then go back to Albert Lea again.  I would have had to get into and out of the car repeatedly, which would have been hard.

My brother is still off work, so she called him to see if he would take her to one of the appointments, and he volunteered to take her to both, so I will not have to at all tomorrow.  She has another appointment on Friday, and he is not able to take her then due  to having to take Caleb to Winona to move some of his stuff to his college apartment.

I am hoping that my foot will be much better by Friday.  I am sick of this stupid foot.
