Tired from my middle of the night hijinks, I slept in a long time.  When I got up to pee at about 7 am, I threw more laundry in.  Went back to bed and slept till about 11.  I was working on laundry and tidying up the place a little when I decided to look up ant infestations, as my brother and his family are experiencing ANTAGEDDON, with massive swarms of ants all over their house.

I called my sister in law to tell her some of the remedies I found, and we chatted for a while.  NMy brother and my uncle went to Owatonna to get the fridge and dining room set rejected by my spineless nephew.  The dropped my mom off at my sister Kim's house and they went to get manicures and pedicures.

Jack invited me over for hamburgers and brats on the grill.  I had to finish drying my colored clothes before I could go as I was completely out of shorts.  Too hot to wear  anything else.  I told Jack that I would like to go with if he saw the movie Cowboys and Aliens.  He kind of decided on the spot that we would see it this afternoon.
So, I ate with them.  Then my sister in law gave my brother and nephew haircuts.  And their goofy cat Milo, an orange tabby like Stewie and Peaches, loves to have his fur trimmed with the clippers.  It is a hilarious thing to watch as he rolls his eyes back in his head, opens his mouth and lolls his head around like a total goober.

Today Kari gave him a kitty mohawk.

Cora showed me how she has organized her stuffed animals in the plastic drawer crates I gave her and her new pink bicycle.  It's a mighty fine bicycle with streamers from the handle bars and a bell.

Then Jack, Caleb, and I went to Owatonna and watched Cowboys and Aliens.  It sounds really stupid, but it was in fact a really enjoyable movie.  Harrison Ford was great as the crusty old rancher whose son was a worthless piece of you know what.  Daniel Craig was the outlaw who had escaped from the aliens with one of their weapons but no memory of anything.  The aliens were belligerent, ugly bastards who were sucking gold out of the environment.  Certainly not the type of alien you would want to bring home to meet your parents.

I found it very entertaining and enjoyable despite its far-fetched premis.

After that, we picked mom up at Kim's and came straight home.

Mom and I were sitting in the living room upstairs when she confessed to me a mad craving for ice cream, so we hopped in my car and headed for blooming  where she got a chocolate malt, I got a delicious banana malt, and both of us got chicken strip baskets with onion rings instead of fries.

We ate when we got back to Ellendale  then went down to the family room where we bemoaned the fact that there was nothing worth watching on TV.  So, we watched Something to Talk About--one of mom's Julia Robert's movies.  It's cute.  Dennis Quaid is her cheating husband and Robert Duvall is her overbearing but loving father and Gena Rowland is her mom.  Dennis Quaid is as cute as can be. Plus it had a pretty interesting  story.

Once it ended I came into my bedroom with my cats which is where I am now, barely able to keep my eyes open.

My knees are really sore tonight.  No idea why.  Probably because the weatherhas been so hot and humid.

Today at around 10 am, Caleb and I headed to West Concord to get the last of my stuff out of my house.

We stopped in Owatonna at Walmart so I could pick up some kitty litter and cat food.  No treats, as my cats are too fat, according to the vet.  I picked up some lightbulbs for mom, some extra toy mice for the kitties, and a couple of bags of Bliss Milk Chocolates for myself.  Yum.

When we got to West Concord, Caleb dragged some stuff to the curb for me and packed the last of my stuff in the car.  I swept and scrubbed the kitchen floor, scrubbed off the stove and counter tops, and packed up the last of the small stuff.

I took a few minutes to say good-bye to the house and asked it to provide a happy home for the new residents.  If houses have souls, mine has a pretty good one, I think.  It's only downfall was existing in West Concord.

When we left the house, we stopped at Ingrid and  Jim's house and dropped off a large kitchen garbage bag full of containers--some were like cool whip and sour cream containers that I had washed up, and some were the cheap reuseable Walmart plastic containers.  Some were a little nicer.  Ingrid loves to cook tons of food and then distribute it to various hungry folks.  I have been the recipient of her bounty many times, and she is a great cook.

Then we went to Ginny's drive-in where I got a twist cone in a cup and Caleb got a cone and an icee type drink.
Then we dropped off a big container of cat food that my cats no longer could eat at Joni's house near her barn.  From there, we dropped off my vacuum cleaner at Kim's house.  She will use it in her upstairs so she doesn't have to drag her vacuum up and down the steps to clean.

We came straight home after that.  Kari happened to call to see where we were, and we joked with her, telling her that we were in a bar having shots of tequila.  LOL.  I said we told the bartender that Caleb was my 47 year old midget boyfriend.  Caleb got quite a charge out of that.

When we got to Mom's house, Caleb unloaded the whole car himself.  Well, I did take two blue bags out, but he did everything else--including a 35 lb. pail of kitty litter, which is about a third of his weight!

Since he had carried that down, I cleaned my litterboxes and added fresh litter to them, filled their food and water bowls, and tidied up their area in the furnace room a bit.

Peaches is still sleeping a lot, but she seems much better today than previously.  Her eyes are bright; she actually played with a pipe cleaner for a while, and she let me see her tummy.  The incision seems to be healing up real nicely.

When Mom walked through with a laundry basket, Peaches growled at her.  LOL.  I suppose she thought the laundry basket was a cat carrier and she figured there was no freakin' way she was getting back into one of those!

She curls up beside me the minute I sit down and purrs her little heart out when I pet her.  I haven't tried to pick her up yet--I am going to wait until she climbs into my lap on her own.

My own bed is finally set up in my bedroom...and I slept great in it last night.  I haven't actually made it yet, but I have a sheet laid across the mattress and a blanket that I covered myself with.  The cats are thrilled to have their own bed back too.  We all slept in it together last night.  It was wonderful.

I bought a pizza and some BBQ chicken "wings" for me and Mom tonight for supper.  We were both tired and hot and no one felt like cooking.  We watched a couple of episodes of NCIS, then she went upstairs to watch one of her reality TV shows, and I turned off the TV and came in to spend a little time with my babies.  I have been messing around on the internet a little bit...but as soon as I finish this entry, I need to spend a little time creating some order out of the chaos that my room is right now with all  this crap in it.

Caleb and I had a very nice time today--we chatted and sang and giggled the whole time.  And he worked like a little trooper.  He is saving money to buy himself a lap top, so I gave him $20 for helping me.  It was well worth it.

I had my first real sting of rejection today--it was the ROC preschool picnic, and I wasn't invited.  Some of my homeroom kids texted me and asked if I would be there.  I told them I hadn't heard about it, and now was busy with my nephew.

It hurts.  But I am continuing to continue regardless.

Monday was a complete clusterfuck.

First, we discovered that my uncle Jerry had taken my box springs (which are split into two because a big box spring would not fit up my stairway) instead of the twin bed mattress and box spring that I was giving to Hope and Randy (Cousin Lee's daughter and her boyfriend) for their little boy.

Then, Jim Butler came and got that horrid rock-hard thing I have been sleeping on, which would have been wonderful if my own bed could have been set up.  However, that led to me not having a bed in my bedroom.  Meaning I could not sleep with my cats.  I don't like not sleeping with my cats.

So, the first night I slept downstairs on the couch or in the recliner (partial night in each);  tonight, I am upstairs in the bed I used to sleep in when visiting mom.

According to my mom, my uncle will be bringing my own box springs back this afternoon some time.  I am not counting on it, but it would be nice.

The other part of the clusterfuck was that my nephew Kyle, who has not lifted a finger to help me move in all this turmoil, called his mother to tell her he did not want the hutch, table, and chairs and the refrigerator he had said he wanted all this time.  A special trip was made to Owatonna to take this stuff to his apartment--it took more than an hour to hall this load specifically for him and unload it.

He was nowhere to be found at this time, so they put the stuff in his garage.

Then he texted his mom and said he didn't want it.  She called him and apparently the landlord went berserk when he saw all this stuff in the garage, which wouldn't have been put there IF he had had the courtesy to say he did not want it earlier.  Then he tells my sister that Juan's parents will take the fridge.  (Juan is his roommate.)  I said, "Like HELL they will."  I don't know them from Adam, and I am certainly not GIVING them my fridge!  If they want t pay me $300, that would be fine.

My brother Jack will take the refrigerator since his little pop fridge is on the blink.  They can keep it in there basement for overflow food or just pop.

Now, we have to find a way to get all that stuff back from Owatonna--and none of us owns a truck.  Personally, I think Kyle should be responsible to get it back here, since he is the one who wasted our time and gas to haul it to him.  Knowing him though, it would either never get done or it would be done in such a shoddy way that everything would be wrecked in tranist.

The whole family is furious at him for his irresponsibility, and Kim feels terrible--which is unnecessary.  She is not responsible for the fact that her son has inherited his father's lazy-ass, inconsiderate ways.  This is why she should have left him when the boys were young.

I am not so much furious as I am disgusted with him.  I have enough shit to deal with (as does his mom).  We did not need HIS shit on top of everything else.

On a bright note, Stewart and Peaches are recovering nicely from their surgeries.  Stewie only had his claws removed and Peaches was both declawed and spayed, poor baby.  She has been very dumpy and withdrawn until yesterday.  Then she actually got up on the bed with me until Jim came and took it away.  I really want to be down in the basement with THEM.  She seems to be suffering more from the declaw than Stewie as well.  Stewie doesn't act like anything has ever happened to him.

The vet refused to operate on Tyger Lilly because she is too fat.  He says that she must lose 3.5 pounds before he will operate.  :(

He did trim her claws way back so she cannot claw stuff, but this means I will have to make her go through all this again...all the fear and trauma and separation.  SHE is t he one I most wanted spayed because she has that nasty discharge when she is in heat...sort of like kitty period juice.  Eww.

I hated having them declawed, but mom's conditions for letting them move in were that they had to be spayed and declawed.  She was very very pissed about the vet refusing to do the surgeries, but she has been nice to the cats.  Stewie has already completely accepted her and is allowing her to touch the sacred white tummy.  Tyger Lilly is allowing some contact, but will also hiss on occasion.  Peaches--not so much.  She will stay in the room, eyeing her warily, until mom moves to make contact.  Then she will slink away to hide in some crevice.

I still have just a little bit of stuff at the house.  I also want to clean the bathroom and the kitchen for the new people--but I have been so freakin' exhausted.  I slept most of today away.  If we are not having horrific storms today, I am heading to finish this stuff up in the morning.

I just hope I can get it all done in one trip.

If I can't, I am wondering if I can maybe get DeAnn to follow me home with the rest of the crap in her car.  I will call her in the morning and see.  First though, I will TRY to get everything in my own car.

I would have gone today, but I promised Caleb and Cora that I would take them to the movie Zookeeper.  We were on a tight time budget as Caleb had to be home by 3:30 to get to his practice by 4.  This meant I could not take them out for ice cream as I had hoped.  But, it was okay.  We didn't get out of the theater until 3:05.  The traffic was insane as it was the end of day for some company.  I took them on one of the many back routes I know through the city and got us to the other side without dealing with all the traffic delay.  We got him home by 3:35, which was close enough.

Cora stayed with us while Kari took Caleb to his practice.

Joni and Jeff came over later to get some of my plastic organizers.  They have gone pretty well.  DeAnn has a few, Kari took a few (and so did the kids), mom took a couple, and whatever is left, Tina would like to have.  Tina is a friend of Kari's.

I have four of the 3-drawer ones in the basement with my fabric.  I also have three of the taller ones and a couple of the "file cabinet" type ones.  I have quite a few of the smaller 3-drawer things too.  I will probably be emptying out a few more of these things as time passes.  I am really purging to the bone here.  I cannot really think of anything else right now--I hope I can go back to sleep now that I have purged all this stuff from my mind.

More will follow....adios.

Another carload of stuff hauled to mom's today.

DeAnn came over and carried a bunch of stuff downstairs and out to the car for me.  I had several blue Walmart bags containing the last of my page protectors and file folders and computer paper from my home office.  I had several three-ring binders with a variety of stuff in them--mostly crochet patterns or information about writing or other topics I am interested in.  I brought a big tote full of fleece which I had purchased some time ago to make blankets for my nieces and nephews.  Now that I am unemployed, I may be able to get them done for them for Christmas this year.

I also brought Matthew's quilt.  One of mom's friends might be willing to finish it for me.  I have the pieces all sewn together, I just don't have the backing or batting down on it.

I brought a big tub of Barbie dolls and the little shoe-box sized tote that has the "room" materials I have acquired for the Ryan twins, Mary Rose and Mary Beth.  Perhaps I will set up their "room" and take a few pictures of the cool stuff I have collected for them.

I also brought all my tall tote of Playmobil Pirates and accessories.  I did not bring the pirate ship yet as it is so very large and I have no idea where I will put it.

I put away the last of the fabric that I did not get put away the last time I was here.  I also repacked the large tote of flannel fabric so  the cover would fit on it, then I stuck it up on the top shelf of the closet.  The silky/velvet/fancy fabric was already up there.

I redid the dresser drawers and organized them so that all my winter clothing is in one dresser and my summer clothing is in the other.  (Well, not ALL.  Some of the stuff is in the closet.)  I need to reorganize the closet too--but I will probably leave that till I am actually moved in here.

The kitties get declawed and spayed on the 20th.  After that is done, I will bring them directly to their new home.  I hope everyone will be happy.

I have a couple more bags of stuff to go through tomorrow.  Then I hope to organize some of the clutter on my desk.  A lot of stuff just needs to be sorted and filed.  I brought a lot of patterns home this time--they need to be dealt with and filed.  I am trying to put stuff away as I bring it home.  I know things are not efficiently organized to suit all my needs YET.  But I figure I will have lots of time duirng my unemployment to tweak my environment until it suits me.

I hope to do a lot of sewing and reading and writing once this moving business is behind me.  I am very fucking SICK of moving shit.

Tomorrow DeAnn and I are going to go to the midnight showing of Harry Potter.  I've never been to a midnight showing before--it should be fun and exciting.

That's all I have for tonight.  I will try to update a bit more tomorrow--perhaps with some pictures.

I took a huge carload of stuff to my mom's on July 3. I did not get much put away as I was invited over to Jack and Kari's house to watch the recent remake of True Grit.  I brought some treats--chips, dip, gum drops, and ice cream bars.  The movie was good--I had already seen it at  the theater, but I enjoyed it a second time.  There are some awesome one-liners in there.  I think my favorite is, "I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man."

It makes me laugh every time.

My mom helped me carry in the stuff from the front seat.  I left the rest for Jack.  He came in the morning to pick me and mom up to go to Tammy's house up near Rockford and Delano.  He and Caleb emptied out my back seat but forgot to check the trunk.  He said he'd get it later.

We went back to their house to get Kari and Cora who  were still getting ready.  We took a back route to Tammy's.  It seemed to take forever and a day to get there, but it was a nice scenic route, especially one section of gravel road that went through a thickly wooded area.  The treetops met in the middle of the gravel road and it was really peaceful, green, and shady.

One thing I notice was how high the water was in every lake, river, ditch, and creek.  I guess I have been watching too much of the weather channel's Storm Stories programs because it kinda freaked me out.

I had brought the Garfield quilt I've been working on for Erik.  I worked on that most of the way up.  I get bored just sitting.  Also, it takes my mind off how much my knees hurt in the car, especially when I cannot stretch them out all the way.  My legs were nearly paralyzed by the time we got to Tammy's house.  Stupid knees.

Burt's sister Judy, his mom, and his cousin were there as were Tammy's old friend Wanda and her husband and daughter. There was enough food there for us to all stay and feast for about a month, I suspect.  Judy, the cousin (name escapes me), Leatrice (Tammy's mother-in-law) and I had a nice chat about goofy stuff we remember from our youths.  We talked a lot about this guy who used to draw a face on his hand and use it as a puppet.  Beanie and Cecil, the Sea Sick Sea Serpent were also mentioned.  What a hoot.

Coconut, Tammy's dog, was very happy to see me as I always slip him a little sustenance under the table.  I love that goofy little boy.  Her new dog is an interesting looking critter.  I wish I had gotten a picture of him, but I did not.  He is supposedly a cross between a chihuahua and an Australian Shepherd.  He originally belonged to Sadie's boyfriend's sister, but she kept him locked in a tiny little kennel all the time and never let him out.  Sadie, being an animal lover, liberated him and brought him home.  Now my sister says they are never getting him back.  She has fallen in love with him and he is constantly in her lap.  He's smaller than Coconut who is supposed to be a papillion miniature poodle mix.  Coconut was only supposed to weigh about 8 pounds.  HA!  He's at least a 25 pounder.  But I like a bigger doggie, myself.

Ron the Rat was a big hit with the kids.  My mom was horrified--"A RAT!  It's a nasty RAT!  No!  I don't want to hold the RAT."

Rats are actually very sweet and friendly animals.  I learned this from sweet little Essie, may she rest in peace.  Essie was a lab rat the science teacher's daughter had experimented on when she was in college.  She fell in love with the rat, and instead of euthanizing it at the end of the experiment like she was supposed to, she smuggled her out in her jacket pocket and gave her to her dad.  He brought it to school, and she often visited me in my room as I always had a granola bar in my desk just to give chunks to her.  She never ever peed or pooped on MY shoulder.

Ron is also a very sweet rodent.  I took quite a few pictures of him bonding with the kids.

Here you can see Ron's rather spectacular tail.  It is the tail that my mom finds the most loathsome.

At this point, Ron had already eaten three raspberries, an olive, several chips, and who knows what else.  He was till sniffing the air in hopes of something else.

photo

Both Caleb and Cora are animal lovers too.

This one is just a bit out of focus, but you can see the bulging sides of Ron's belly here.  LOL.

That white fluffy thing in the background is Coconut.

photo
Left to right are my mom, my sister in law Kari, and my sister Tammy.  They are looking at pictures of Sadie's rodeo win--third place.  See how Ron looks up at my sister with adoration.  LOL

It appears Ron is attempting to steal a kiss from Kari.

Wearing the Mr. Incredible shirt in the background is my brother Jack.  Ron is loving being the center of attention.

Again, a little out of focus, but look at those sweet little "hands."

Ron is a mighty fine rat.

And no photo shoot would be complete without the best doggie in Minnesota!  Coconut.

Before we went home, we played a few games of Apples to Apples with the kids.  It was a fun day.  When I hugged Bert good-bye, I reminded him that I am now unemployed, so if his company needs any proofreadinig done, I am ready, willing, and able to do it for them.

We went back home via I-35, which did not seem to take as long.  We got off on the Hwy 30 exit just as Lily called to see if mom and I wanted to go to the fireworks with her and Jerry.  I didn't much feel like it at that point, but we went.  Jack carried in the rest of the stuff from the trunk.

We picked up Kim and sat in our customary place near the Village of Yesteryear at the Fairgrounds.  It was   a really good show this year. Apparently some rich dude donated a bunch of money towards it.  I took a few fireworks pictures, just for experimentation.  They turned out okay,  You can see them on my flickr account if you want to look.

This July 4th would have been my dad's 80th birthday.  It's hard to believe he's been gone so long already.  He was only 64 when he died.

I had planned to go back home on the 5th but I had so much stuff to put away--I didn't want to just leave it in an unholy mess like that, so I stayed another day and another night.  I missed my kitties terribly.  I am sure they missed me just as bad.

I made good use of my time and got a ton of stuff put away.  I now have almost all my fabric sorted and put into containers in the closet.  I have everything separated according to color.  Blue has two drawers.  LOL.  I must like blue.

I have my holiday fabric separated into four drawers:  (1)  Valentines and Easter  (2) Fourth of July   (3)  Halloween    (4)  Christmas

I have a bit of St. Patrick's day fabric too, but I didn't have much, so I just put it in with the green stuff.  I  have one big tub of just flannels and "jammy" type fabric and another tub of "fancy" stuff like satin and velvet.

I also have one drawer marked "Misc" as the fabrics have too many colors or patterns to really fit into any one color drawer.  Some of my specialty fabric like Mickey Mouse or Raggedy Ann is in there as well.

Another one of those "cannot possibly fall asleep nights"--even though I am very tired.  I've been lying in bed for at least three hours, trying to sleep.  Of course, the fact that I have had a slight case of diarrhea most of the afternoon and evening may be contributing to my wakefulness.  I don't really feel sick, so I don't think I have the flu.  I think it was the sandwich meat I had for lunch--it was pretty greasy.

Anyhow--that is probably TMI, but there you have it.

On Thursday of this week, I drove home with a carload of stuff.  Mom and I unloaded it with the little red wagon.  That little wagon has been a life saver.  It was hideously hot all day Thursday and Friday.

After unloading the car, Mom and I headed into Owatonna to meet DeAnn at the Chinese buffet near Walmart for lunch.  It was so hot and humid that I didn't have much of an appetite.  However, I did eat four of the large slices of fried zucchini.  That stuff is delicious.

After lunch, we went to the theater and saw Bridesmaids.  It was pretty racy in the beginning with Annie (the main character) having every kind of tawdry sex imaginable with a gross slimey guy with slick hair who kind of reminded me of the evil Brett Joyce.  Yuck.  He had that same arrogant "I am so much more important than you" attitude.

Anyhow--I hoped mom would not be completely turned off by it, but she enjoyed it, despite the sexy parts.  DeAnn and I laughed throughout the whole thing too.  There were a lot of hilarious parts--the part that tickled me the most was after Annie had arranged dinner at a Brazilian restaurant then they went to a fancy wedding place to look at bridesmaid's gowns.  Unfortunately, all of them got food poisoning except Helen, the "bad guy" in the film (she turned out not to be a real bad guy--just a lonely, friendless, unfortunate woman.

There was puking and diarrhea galore, all while the fancy pantsy bridal shop employee was freaking out because these dresses were all hundreds and hundreds of dollars.  Well, they were puke and shit rags after that episode.  Ha.

After the movie, Mom and I went to Walmart and picked up some groceries.  I bought a small seedless watermelon for Lucas because he had written on his facebook that he wanted watermelon.  It was a thank you gift for him hauling so much stuff downstairs for me.  After Walmart, we went through the drive thru at McDonalds and got four sweet teas.  We dropped two off at Kim's for her and Lucas, along with the watermelon.  Kim does day care, and some of the kids she has are truly spawns of hell.  (No doubt as a result of their parents' lack of parenting skills.)  I feel sorry for the little monsters, but I also understand how Kim gets frustrated with their destructive behavior.

I love being able to give people a special little treat now and then.

On Friday, Jerry and Lily came over and Jerry put up the new ceiling fan in my underground lair.  It has made it much more tolerable down here--both for the fan and for the light being much brighter and cheerier than the fixture that was there before.

I spent most of the two days I was at Mom's sorting through my material.  I devided it into different drawers for each major color. I discovered I have tons of blue, pink, green and brown.  Surprisingly, I have very little red.  I have a whole tote full of flannel and pj material.  There is another small amount of fabric to organize--mostly holiday prints.  I have a lot of Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Halloween fabric.  I also have a lot of fancy silky and satiny  material that I got at a garage sale.  It's really pretty stuff, but I don't usually sew fancy clothes like that.

I am thinking I need to go through the fabric again and thin it down some more.  I still have more fabric at home, and most of my drawers are too full now.  Yet, I MUST look through each and every one of the boxes of fabric.  I have so much really cute stuff.

Jack and Kari had us over for supper on Friday night--Kari served chicken breasts that had been cooked in the slow cooker with a can of mushroom soup.  They were quite tender and moist.  I must remember to do that some time.  I will probably add some other stuff like onions and other vegetables, though.  I like vegetables.

After supper, we watched the movie You Again, which surprised me by having a very similar theme to Bridesmaids. Jealousy, dissatisfaction with one's self, and just plain wedding day craziness.

On Saturday afternoon, I went back to West Concord where I continued to work on packing and sorting.  All of the pay per view movies were being offered for 99 cents, so I rented Battlefield LA, which I really wanted to see in the the theater but didn't make it.  It was okay.

I worked upstairs packing and organizing for a few hours.

I was able to pack all the stuff I was hoping to get home.  I managed to drag it to the top of the stairs.  DeAnn and Jim kindly carried it all downstairs and packing it into my car.  My car was literally STUFFED full of stuff.  It was actually lucky that I did not get a ticket for obstructed vision.  But, I got safely to walmart to get some chips and stuff for tomorrow---we  are all going up to Tammy's house for a Fourth of July celebration.

I stopped at Jack and Kari's on the way home--mom was already there.  We watched the new version of True Grit.  I will have to buy it for my collection, as I actually believe the new version is better than the old John Wayne movie.

Well, I am now dozing off at the keyboard while trying to sleep.  It is 2:08 am, so I will probably  be able to sleep now.

Good night all.
