I am CURSED
Jun. 9th, 2005 03:44 pmOkay--my modem is apparently fried as a result of a lightning storm on Tuesday night. I was on it until midnight Tuesday night...it was fine. The storm came and went. My connection was fine.
Wednesday morning--nothing.
I thought, ah--just like with Prairie Lakes (*spit*). Everytime the wind blew that worthless service went down. I fully expected it would be back up and fine on Wednesday night. NOPE. I tried to reset it--no effect. DeAnn came over to reset it--no better luck. Being without my internet connection is JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE.
I'm at school now--brought my laptop in with me it works off the school's wireless connection.
The other bit of unhappy news is my knee. It is damaged. I have done horrible things to both my knees in the past. The time that I tripped over the strip of metal on the door frame is one of the worst. It was swollen and purple for weeks. I could barely walk. It was god-awful. But this is the first time I've ever been told it might require surgery. Jeff (my chiropractor) said my knee had a lot of "laxity"--apparently that means it is loose. He adjusted it--along with my hip, my back, and my neck. It hurt like hell.
My knee does feel somewhat better today. At least it isn't making that "clicky" feeling and noise. And I can put my weight on it again.
Further evidence that I am cursed--I have attempted to write this entry three times today--each time something has happened to wipe it away and I have had to start it over again.
*GRRRR*
I'm feeling a bit weary and depressed.
The radio just said that we could have thunderstorms again tonight.
Whoopie.
I've accomplished basically NOTHING today at school.
I had two meetings--one with the whole staff where we got some information about stuff Jay needs from us and what we need to do before we are done for the summer. The other was an English department meeting with Robin and Mary. We talked about what classes we were going to offer in the fall.
It looks like my schedule will be :
(1) Homeroom
(2) Children's Lit (section 1)
(3) Children's Lit (section 2)
(4) Prep
(5) Senior Seminar
(6) BST Writing Seminar/Writing Skills (section 1)
(7) BST Writing Seminar/Writing Skills (section 2)
It is good to have an idea of what I'll be doing next fall. I can work on this during the summer--especially the senior seminar. I want to really hammer down on that next year.
I want to have a GREAT year next year.
This year was like a C average year. I want at least a B+ next year--and I'd prefer an A.
I guess I will post this before I lose it again.
bleah.
