Today was one of those day where I just couldn't get motivated.  Part of it was that Ingrid and Nicky kept calling me about Nicky's issues at her school.  They are trying to submarine her there--I don't get why they are doing it, since  they have already told her she is not being hired back next year.  Just to be assholes, I suppose.

Anyhow, she sent me the letter she is going to send to her superiors, and I proofread it and made some changes and corrections in it early this morning.

Ingrid kept calling and calling, waking me up every time as I was sleeping in.

She is coming home  tomorrow for the weekend.  This, I think, is one of the reasons that my body could not get energized.  I am fearful she is going to want me at her house the whole weekend, and I have too much other stuff I want to get done!

My kittens were very snuggly today, so I spent most of my day snuggling with them in my bed, dozing, answering phone calls from Nicky and Ingrid, then sleeping some more.  I didn't get out of bed till after 3, and  I didn't go downstairs till after 5.

The cats had knocked over the garbage sack and dug most of the trash out of it again, so I cleaned that up before I went downstairs, tossing it down ahead of me.

They had completely devoured all their food, so I had to go out to my car to get the new bag I had bought for them yesterday morning on my way to school.   I dragged the garbage can back up to the house, got the cat food out of the car, spiffed up the inside of the car a bit, and tossed the garbage bag into the trash can.  I also took three of the paper boxes I had in the trunk into the porch.  They will be much easier for me to put things in as I decide what has to go.  They have nice covers, are stackable, and are easy to carry.

I heated up some of the left over pizza from Papa Murphy's and ate a very late lunch.  I tidied up the chair in the living room that I have been dumping things into and figured out my checkbook while watching a couple episodes of House.  After mourning my advanced level of poverty, I decided to go to Owatonna and get some groceries.  My house has been practically barren of groceries for weeks.

I hadn't gotten the mail for over a  week, so I stopped on my way out of town and picked that up.  I haven't looked at any of it yet.  That will be a task for tomorrow.

I bought two bags of potting soil and two cheap but large containers for my two tomato plants.  Tomorrow, I will plant them.  With any luck, I will be able to grow a few tomatoes on my front steps.  :D

I got a ton of good healthy groceries.  Now I must eat them instead of letting them rot in my fridge as I usually do.  Sigh.

A sweet young stock boy helped me load them into my car, but I had to get them all in the house by myself.  It was an ordeal, but I accomplished it.  They are all put away now too--except for a few canned things.  I will put those away tomorrow.

I am  now lying in bed, Tyger Lilly at my feet, and Stewart up by  my chest, lying on his back so I can rub his tummy between bursts of typing.

Even though I spent most of my day in a semiconscious state, I am tired.  I guess i will attempt to sleep after I post this.

Jim and DeAnn bought me a couple of tomato plants about a week ago.  They've been sitting on my front steps waiting for me to have time to deal with them ever since.

Last night on my shopping expedition, I bought a couple of green pots and a couple of ten pound bags of potting soil.

This morning, the first real chore I did was planting them.  And I documented the event photographically.

Here are the two tomato plants in their original small pots.

Here is one of the two $5 pots I bought.

Here is the Miracle Grow potting soil mix I used.  Each pot took a bag of it.

Here are the two types of tomatoes:  Jet Star and Beefsteak.

Here is the first one planted.  I watered it well.

Here is the second.

And here are the two plants on the front step where they will spend the summer.  Hopefully each will produce at least a couple of tomatoes.

If these work out this year, I might try a few more "potted" garden items next year.
