Both ends of the dresser scarf look like this. I think it turned out so lovely!
This is the design in the middle of the dresser scarf. I did not follow their color chart which would have been all pale yellows and oranges. I like my colors better.
Another peek at the end of the dresser scarf. I think it turned out lovely.
This is Katira Gassman. She came over to make a "duck" doll bedroom for her little Kelly dolls last Thursday. We only had three hours, but we got the box "wall papered" and two little beds made with mattresses and pillows and pillowcases.
I started on the matching blankets, but wasn't able to finish before her mom came and got her and took her to the fair.
After they left, I kept working, finished the blankets, and made the "duck chair." I had no pattern, just "made it up" out of my head. I was very pleased with it.
I pasted some thin cardboard onto the duck feet to give it more stability.
I free cut the duck shapes out of yellow felt, then appliqued a felt "wing" onto the side of the duck. I stuffed a little fiber fill into the wing to make it stand out. Then I sewed the duck body pieces together, glued on wiggly eyes and sewed on a cut felt "beak."
Then I made a tufted seat big enough for two little Kelly dolls and attached it to the duck's inside "body." Last, I glued on feet and set them on card board to make them sturdier.
Pretty good for an "experiment," I think.
The glue was still wet here. It dried clear and perfect. I think their facial expressions are both silly and cheerful.
And here is one of MY little Kelly dolls sitting in the duck chair. Katira would have liked to take this little dolly home, but I just can't part with her. I love her.
I got her and her little red-haired caucasian counterpart many years ago in Shopko in Albert Lea.
I need to keep a FEW of my dolls for myself.
Last week when I went to see my therapist in Rochester, the sky was full of these amazing wispy clouds that looked like dragons in flight!
I see two dragons in this picture, both plyfully winging their way across the sky.
I wish I were a better artist; I'd love to draw what I see.
The one in the center is turning his head to the right. The one on the left is flying beneath the other one with his jaws open in a squeal of delight.
This just looks like huge wings flapping--it's heading west, and you can sort of see the long neck and the back of the head.
This one didn't take as well, but there were at least three cloud dragons with their wings fully extended and looking like they were soaring above Highway 14.
This is next to the drive through lane at McDonalds by 19th street in Rochester. It looked so beautiful and cheerful that I had to take a picture of it. I need to remind myself that there is a great deal of beauty in the world, even if my own life is solid ugly.
