November 27 through 30
Dec. 1st, 2020 02:12 pmFriday, November 19
Today was a peaceful, sunny fall day. Lily brought me a container of Cool Whip and my mail. The Cool Whip is for a jello salad that I had wanted to make for Thanksgiving but did not due to not having Cool Whip. Since Cool Whip can be frozen, I will put it in the freezer and make it for Christmas.
Lily was out of her Culligan water which come in huge, heavy bottles that are very difficult to lift and carry. Prior to Thanksgiving, she had asked if she could send her son in law Loren over to get one of mine and she would give me one of hers when she got another delivery. I poo-pooed this idea, telling her she could just HAVE one of my jugs as I have three spares. She could consider it an early Christmas gift.
Well, of course, DRAMA had to occur. Months ago, I had written a post on Facebook in which I had discussed some of the then current ridiculous behavior of tRUMP and had asked this question: "How can people still support this idiot? What is wrong with them? Are they stupid? Evil? Crazy?"
Well, apparently my cousin Rhonda and her husband Loren took HUGE offense at that and have spent months whining about how AWFUL it was for me to call THEM names! Okay--I never specifically called any one individual crazy, stupid, or evil. But you would think that I had specifically put those labels on them personally, and Loren REFUSED to do ANYTHING for me.
Which is absolutely ludicrous as coming to my house to get a bottle of water for LILY to use in her house for THEM has nothing at all to do with ME. So, to punish me for being unable to grasp why any intelligent human being would embrace a Hitleresque despot like tRUMP, my aunt's son in law sat on his tRUMP loving ass in her house while she--a nearly 80 year old woman with back, neck, shoulder, and leg impairments--came to my house to fetch a jug of water that must weigh 40 pounds or more so they could drink it instead of horrific TAP water! Now, I dragged it from the kitchen to the breezeway door which was the best I could do, but she had to get it down the three steps to the patio and then 15 feet or more to the drive way to her vehicle, which is an SUV, and then LIFT it above her knees to get it INSIDE the vehicle.
All the while, my aunt was telling me how "hurt" Loren was by the "mean things" I said about him. I just rolled my eyes and said, "If he chooses to personalize my comments, that's on him. I NEVER said Loren Nelson was crazy, stupid, or evil. Nor did I actually say tRUMP supporters were! It was a question."
She said, "But YOU KNOW they are Republicans and so it was the same thing."
"No, it isn't," I said. "But I am not surprised that tRUMP supporters choose to behave just like the asshole they worship and get all butt hurt and pouty like little babies when they have lost and throw their little temper tantrums. If they want to be mad at me and refuse to speak to me, it is no skin off my ass. I just think it is stupid for them to take it out on YOU. They are not hurting ME in any way. But they are putting YOU at risk of hurting your back, hip, neck, or legs by sending YOU to lug this heavy jug for THEM. I think they are behaving like complete assholes. And you can tell them I said so."
Then she was upset because I "swore." HAHAHA.
So I guess I can safely assume I will get no Christmas card from the Nelson family this year.
Other than this bit of drama, the day was quiet. I dragged out some garbage and recycling to the outside bins and ate leftovers from Thanksgiving for supper.
Saturday, November 28
Another bright, sunny, quiet day. Lily called to tell me Mary Groth had brought cinnamon rolls over, and that she would be stopping by with two for me as well as a container of a corn side dish she had made for Thanksgiving.
My sister Kim came down to Mom's to take another load of her stuff from Mom's house back to her townhouse in Eagle Lake. While she was at Mom's, she dragged Mom's Christmas tree into her living room for her so she can put up her tree.
I would dearly love to put up my Christmas things, but all of my stuff is in the basement. I am unable to drag it all up myself, and I am unwilling to allow anyone into my house to drag it up for me. So, this will be the third year of not putting up decorations for me. Sigh.
I heard from my former student Chelles whose two daughters, mom, and grandmother were all suffering from Covid. They appear to be out of the woods now, so thank God they all survived and are recovering. These folks live by Rochester.
Now, as far as I know, only Sterling Haukom (another former student) and his Mother have it. His neighbor brought them both over large plates of Thanksgiving food and left the plates on their back porch so they did not have any contact with them. They live in the Rochester/Stewartville area too, which is where I worked when I taught at ROC.
Also, the virus has struck my cousin Troy and his youngest daughter Libby. Libby is doing well, but Kari, his sister, says Troy is miserable. His wife, Stephanie, has level four lymphoma and is not doing well. My sister Joni saw her walking her little dog by their house and said she looks skeletal. It would not be good if she got Covid on top of that! They live in Owatonna, just a few blocks from my sister Joni.
Lily's last surviving son Roger's household has also been struck with the Covid virus. They live in Wisconsin where the virus is rampant. Also, they are a nest of rabid tRUMPers, so they are NOT taking proper precautions. His daughter and her boyfriend (both of whom live with them) have it. His wife is SURE she has it, though she refused to go get tested. He told Lily he had symptoms, but his test came back negative. I am disgusted with that whole nest of tRUMP lovers as they are devoted Q anon fans, but I do not wish them sick with this shit. A strong boot in the ass, yes. Death by covid, no.
Sunday, November 29
After a lovely, lingering shower, I filled my pill caddy and ordered a refill of one of my prescriptions. I heated up enough of my leftover roast beef for a sandwich as well as the corn side dish Lily made. I have to get the recipe for that. It was delicious. It was creamed corn that had a carton of corn bread mix added to it. So, it had a cornbread crust and the corn was sweet and buttery. I had just a little bit of the broccoli and cauliflower salad I had made for Thanksgiving left over, so I ate that too.
Then I felt gorged. LOL. I am not used to eating so much at one time any more.
I learned that there had been an active shooter situation in Albert Lea which is only fifteen minutes down the road from me. Apparently a 21 year old man had shot up an apartment building, shooting two men, one in his 50s and one in his 30s, as well as shooting a patrol car several times and hitting the officer in the chest. The older man had to be air lifted to Rochester, the younger man was admitted to the Albert Lea hospital, and the policeman went to the OR where he was treated and released. Thank God no one was killed. The stand off went from 2 am till nearly noon. The shooter was eventually taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital, but the articles I read did not say whether or not he was shot. Albert Lea, Austin, and Mankato SWAT teams were also called to the scene, so there was ample gun power there to make his injuries likely from being shot. Nothing was said about WHY he went on this rampage.
I spent most of the day watching and deleting stuff from my DVR. I don't even remember what I watched.
Monday, November 30
Here we are in the last day of November. Only one more month of this unbelievable year left. I hope 2021 will be less horrific.
It was another sunny but cool day. I cleaned Peaches' litter boxes and cleaned up the pile of vomit she thoughtfully deposited outside the bathroom door.
I got a call from the clinic and my doctor grudgingly agreed to put off my blood tests till March. So I will be able to continue getting my meds refilled at least till then. If this pandemic is still in full swing, I plan to fight going in for blood tests then too. Hopefully by that time, the Biden administration will be in control and things will be less insane than they are now.
I watched and deleted more stuff from the DVR. My mother called and told me that Ross, the guy who delivers my groceries had been laid up with Covid for three weeks. In the three weeks he was laid up, he lost thirty pounds. I don't think he had thirty spare pounds on him! I guess he was very sick. Poor guy. I wondered why Sally was doing the deliveries instead of Ross recently.
As near as I can figure, Ross last delivered to me 4 or 5 weeks ago. I don't remember if I mentioned the post mistress here in Ellendale also has been laid up with Covid. I guess she is coming back to work this week. The virus is spreading everywhere. That is why I was so rabidly opposed to going to the clinic to have a blood draw.
My brother Jack is having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee tomorrow morning at 7:30 am. My niece Cora had her last wisdom tooth pulled out on Friday. Hopefully there will be no other necessary medical stuff going on from now till spring.
