July 22 and 23
Jul. 24th, 2021 12:35 pmIt was a quiet day, and I used a good part of it to catch up on my DW entries. While working on them, I watched and deleted a bunch of stuff off the DVR. I watched an old movie called Pioneer Woman about a clerk in a hardware store dragging his pregnant wife and two young children across the country to settle in Nebraska. After trouble with the Nebraska natives, they ended up going to Wyoming instead. The husband was played by a very young William Shatner. I can never look at him and see anyone except Capt. James T. Kirk. The daughter was played by a very young Helen Hunt. She looked like she was about 8 or 9 years old. The only other actor I recognized was David Jansen (from the old TV series The Fugitive) who played the rancher whose cattle rampaged through the settlers’ wheat field. It wasn’t a bad movie, but it seemed more like a two hour introduction to a TV series that never happened.
David Lassan mowed my yard today. I have him paid up in advance through July. I will have to give him another check in August.
I ate my extra burrito for a late lunch today with a side of pasta spring salad. It was an odd combination, but it filled the empty spot.
Mom wanted Schwan’s shrimp, and Lily wanted their chicken breasts and some ice cream bars, so I ordered some stuff from their website. For myself, I bought a box of individual cheese pizzas, a bag of mixed vegetables, and a bag of mixed vegetables with shell pasta. I haven’t ordered anything from Schwans in weeks and weeks. My freezers have been too full.
Friday, July 23
I woke up feeling sweaty and greasy, so I took a shower. I was quick as I had slept in later than normal, and I wasn’t sure what time the Schwan’s man would be coming. It turned out that he never arrived till after 1 pm, so it was fine.
I called Lily to get her stuff and ask if she would take Mom’s stuff to her as well. She had forgotten her grabber in my car a while ago, so she grabbed that too. While she was out there, she carried in the two scrap books I had brought home from her house.
Ross came with my groceries about an hour later. I only had one smaller box this time, but it was packed full. It was 90% good healthy groceries—fresh produce, mostly—peaches, plums, a cantaloupe, fresh dark sweet cherries, a really green pineapple, lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocadoes. I also bought milk, pork chops, New York strip steak, a quart of potato salad, sandwich meat, and sour cream to make cucumber salad.
It was three weeks since I last ordered a grocery delivery.
I have spent most of my days picking up clutter and making my house ready for the professional cleaner to come and give it a thorough cleaning on Tuesday at 1 pm. I can hardly wait for this house to be thoroughly clean and lovely again.
I miss my sweet Cynthia so much! I hope this new cleaner works out.
