Holy Shit

Yesterday, there was an outbreak of tornadoes in Minnesota.  They were everywhere.  Multiple vortex ones.  And just multiple tornadoes a very few miles of each other.  I do not think I have ever seen such a massive number of big tornadoes (or even small tornadoes) before in my life.

I feel fortunate as there were tornadoes in or near Ellendale and Geneva, which is where my mom lives and where my grandma used to live.  I would feel a real sense of loss if her house was to be blown away.  And a massive half mile wide tornado went through the Hollandale area, which is where my other grandma lived.  Apparently that just smashed several farms flat.  Miraculously, only one person was killed in my neck of the woods.  They've been showing the footage from Minnesota on the weather channel all day.  The one from Hollandale was immense and fucking terrifying.  I'm glad that nothing bad happened to me or anyone I care about, as far as I know.

My uncle and his neighbor found movies scattered across their lawns.  These were probably sucked up by the tornadoes that went over and then dropped in their yards.

The siren went off in West Concord three times, but really, there wasn't even that much thunder and lightning.  The system went on to rip up stuff in Kasson, Byron, and Rochester.  I am hoping the school is okay because it sounds like the tornado that hit Rochester was really close to ROC.  The news said it was by Carlos O'Kelly's and Saturn, and that's only a few blocks from ROC.  If a school has to be destroyed, I would hope it would be Triton, that stinking hole.  And if Bratt Joy(less)ce is in there when it goes, all th better.  I don't really wish the evil little troll dead, but I'd sure like to see him shit his pants in fear and cry.  Ha ha.

A couple of my kids were texting me while I was in the basement, checking in on me to make sure I was in the basement.  LOL.  While I was down there, the cats were prowling around wondering why I was in the basement sitting on the floor.  A big fat spider came crawling up my leg probably wondering the same thing.

I sat down there for a little over an hour, sewing on one of the sleeveless dresses for my Marley dolls.  This one turned out really cute--black with strawberry and watermelon slice pattern.  I'll take and post pictures later.

I took the time to pack my pink bookbag with diet coke, my phones (cell and land line), my sewing box, candles, and matches.  The lights flicked off once but came right back on again.  I left my radio on upstairs in the kitchen, loud enough for me to hear it in the basement.  It gave me quite a horrible feeling when I heard it say a tornado was on the ground in Ellendale.  But, it turned out that it wasn't really IN Ellendale--but it was damn close.  One of the farms it flattened wasn't even four miles out of town.

I hate how these storms always get to us after the sun goes down and you can't see anything.  I'd rather see it coming for me than to sit in the dark wondering if it was out there or not.

Tomorrow I might take a little drive and see if there is any damage near here.
