And he's really more like a big clumsy puppy who's not quite sure where he ends and the rest of the world begins.
Yesterday he learned how to take a bath in a puddle of water on the concrete. It was so adorable and hilarious.
First he stomped back and forth in the water, splashing it with his big feet and dipping his beak in occasionally for a drink. Then he started leaning forward so that his tummy and chest were dipped in for a second.
Finally he started wriggling around in the water and using his wings to sort of scoop it up and fling it over his back. This went on for some time, and when he was finally finished, he looked like a drowned rat.
The tiny feathers on the top of his head were all standing on end like some sort of freaky bird mohawk. Heh heh heh.
Then he hopped off, flapping his wings and putting on a big show, to preen himself under the lilac bush. Then he flew up to his favorite branch and sat there picking at his arm pits--er--wing pits?--and smoothing his feathers.
I wish we would have had a camera for that little show.
Heh heh heh
He'd still PREFER to have his food placed directly into his mouth, but DeAnn is making him pick it up himself. So that he is prepared to survive in the "wild" of West Concord. Heh heh heh.
