Thursday, February 25

I achieved moderate productivity today.  The Sheba cat pods are now stacked in the headboard of my bed so Peaches can have her soft food handy for her bedtime feeding.  I sacked up the garbage and recycling from the bedroom, bathroom, and living room and bagged up the big bin of recycling from the breezeway with the other recycling.  The heavy garbage from the kitchen was hard to get out of the can, but I was able to get it out, tie it up, and drag it to the breezeway.  Finally, I sorted and washed the laundry.  It was a lot of work, but I felt very happy to get it taken care of.

Lily had gone to Owatonna earlier in the day and picked me up a couple six packs of Diet Coke and a loaf of French bread, so she stopped over to drop that stuff off.  Her daughter wanted her to look into donating money to the Tim Tebow Foundation.  She wanted me to help her find information about it online, so I looked it up and told her what it said about his ministry.  She also wanted me to find information for her about Potiphar’s wife for her Bible study.  Apparently, the next session will be focusing on her.  So, I looked that up and found a bunch of interesting information about that story and a picture of Potiphar’s name in hieroglyphics.  She wanted me to take pictures of that and some other things and send them to her phone via text message so she could show it to her Bible study group.

She saw the bags of garbage and recycling and took them out to the bins for me.  I told her she didn’t have to—I just dragged them out to the breezeway so I could haul them out later, but she insisted.  The recycling was very light, but that garbage was heavy.

Friday, February 26

Today I folded some laundry, broke down a bunch of cardboard boxes to go out with the recycling, cleaned the cat litter boxes, and washed the dishes.  My bananas had reached the stage of over ripeness where they were too mushy to be good for straight eating, so I mashed them up and turned them into a banana cake.  It smelled SO GOOD while it was baking!  I put cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg in my banana cake so it is very fragrant.

Ross delivered my groceries.  I didn’t get a ton of groceries, but it did include a big package of Charmin toilet paper, a case of bottled water, and a six pack of Bounty paper towels.  I got two huge portobella mushrooms which are just gorgeous.  I can’t wait to eat those delicious things.  I love mushrooms.  I got my groceries wiped down and put away and made myself a bowl of clam chowder for supper.  I was disappointed.  It was not as good as it usually is.

I was too tired to frost the cake, so I will do that tomorrow.

Spring was in the air today, and the sunset tonight was absolutely gorgeous—the whole sky was the most amazing shade of red.

Saturday, February 27

I frosted the banana cake with homemade cream cheese frosting and cut four generous sized pieces for each Mom and Lily.  I also gave Lily two grapefruit and two small squashes along with a bag full of the containers she had brought various food for me in earlier.  I gave Mom two grapefruit and a small bunch of asparagus.  Lily stopped over to bring me two of the  cinnamon rolls Mary Groth always gives us on Saturdays.  She kindly offered to take the stuff for Mom’s to her house.

Lily took the very small bag of garbage I had in the kitchen to the bin then rolled the bin to the curb.  My garbage bin was pretty full.  She was on her way to the post office, so she took the two bills that I needed mailed with her as well.  I am so thankful for all the little things she does for me.

Today was sunny and beautiful, and the snow has been melting like crazy.  Apparently it is supposed to snow tomorrow.  I am so ready for spring.  I am so sick of winter.

Sunday, February 28

All my joints are aching and making me miserable.  I took a very hot shower which helped.  I have to get my bathtub installed soon so I can soak in very hot water when my body aches like this.  Since it is Sunday, I had to fill my pill caddy.  Peaches always thinks she has to “help” me do this, and she is a huge pain in the ass rather than the helper she thinks she is.

Apparently it snowed a little in the night but didn’t amount to anything.  Up where Tammy lives, they got about four inches.  It melted all day and I can see large patches of lawn now.  It really makes me hope that spring will be early.  However, I know that Mother Nature can be a tricky bitch and can bury us in up to 20” of snow as late as mid May.

I am very excited that The Walking Dead is back from hiatus tonight.  I love that show and am excited to see what is going to happen now that the “whisperers” have been roundly defeated.

Monday, March 1, 2021

Today I have been extremely lazy.  I got two packages—one was another package of Sheba “cuts” cat food for Peaches.  The other was a package of doll wigs which were on sale on Denis’s website.

Today was cooler than yesterday, but there was bright sunshine and the great melting continues.  Water was running off my roof very enthusiastically.  Lily is feeling very poorly today.  All her joints are hurting her, and she said she can barely get out of her chair or walk.  I told her to take it easy and try a very hot shower to loosen up her muscles.  Poor thing.  This is bad weather for arthritis.

I napped a little this afternoon after taking a couple of the arthritis formula Tylenol.  That stuff seems to knock me out.  I didn’t eat much yesterday or earlier today, so for supper, I made a baked potato and a couple of fish tacos out of frozen fish patties.  The fish wasn’t that great but it was not horrible either.  I might throw the rest of the box away.  There are four patties left but they are 90% breading.  I have lots of other food in the freezer that is no doubt better than those fish things.

Nothing else worth talking about has occurred.

Why don't you cook the fish patties up for peaches? I know Diana eats just about anything I put in front of her so nothing goes to waste. If it has freezer burn, she get it. If it never tasted that good to begin with, she gets it. If it's gone over it's good by date, she gets it.

That dog has no idea how lucky she is. Dolly doesn't either.

I'm fixing the printer today to print out her entry for the first scent trial in over a year. I hope we get in as I am late, but they insist on a printed form, check and through the mail.

Speaking of which, I will also be sending your the rest of the Birthday/Christmas packages. A mixed lot like last time as I used the same paper for both and they got mixed up in the process. I need to get the stuff out of the house or the pile will just grow.

I got some doll stuff in the mail as well. Some socks, shoes and ribbons. My Cousin was able to identify my doll as Ursel and I was able to pull up more information. With the help of google-translate I was able to read and save blog posts from France and Germany with a lot of information and photos. Unfortunately the doll doktor with Schildkröt Gmb in Germany will not accept dolls outside the EU for repair, nor will they sell parts so I am back to making my own eyes. I think I found some artificial lashes thick and small enough that I can cut them down and use them as replacements. I'll still have to make eyes. I have 20 blue glass irises too dark and 10 lighter blue plastic irises too turquoisey. I'll experiment with the teal ones first. Then maybe I'll experiment with painting them myself. I still haven't decided whether to use resin or FIMO or sealer or ModPodge or whatever else is out there. I do want something really hard like glass so that when I put them in I don't end up with a fingerprint ruining the glassy surface. I'll use either white glue or museum gel to place them so they will only be temporary and easy to remove should I ever be able to get the right color irises or actual eyes.

I also found some patterns. There as a Dutch blog that had a free downloadable dress pattern for her. I translated the blog and downloaded the PDF. But need to get the printer working to print. It will be a starting point. There were no decent knitting or crocheting patterns on Ravelry, at least not for free so I may have to create something on my own. Not sure I even want to make anything knitted or crocheted.

She now has three pairs of socks and three pairs of shoes. The cheap nylon slippery ankle socks with the white "patent leather" shoes I bought for her already, some diamond knitted socks and patterned knee socks, possibly of silk and two pair of black shoes. One with a strap and buckle and one a slipper with a bow on the front. Something is bound to work with the Dirndl.

I downloaded quite a few photos of Ursel of various sizes in original clothing so I will have plenty of ideas to draw from. I may have to go back to the seller on Etsy I got the trims from and buy more. I have some more coming but would like to find a few more flowers for regular hats. I did manage to find millinery straw braid to make her Black forest hat, black lace the correct size and red cotton pompoms, also the correct size. So she will have at least one Black Forest outfit, one regular dirndl and a few regular dresses of the 50s. No modern stuff.

In searching (got I HATE Pinterest) I found some darling knitted patterns for rabbits that would make cute "toys" for her. I may have to break down and buy them. $5 each. Also some mouse and rabbit standing pincushions. They wear big skirts that are stuffed and the skirt is the pincushion.

Well, off to get stuff done. I'll let you know when the box is ready and there is a tracking number.

Oh, and I'm ready to start crocheting dishclothes again so you can send that magenta scrubby yarn any time now. Thanks.
