Yesterday, I went into school at 11 am (had planned to be there at 7 am, but phone rang off the hook) and stayed until around 7 pm. I had hoped to get all my correcting done, pay my bills while I was there, plan ahead for at least the first 2-3 days of school next week, and do my therapy homework.
Well....I got all my correcting done. It took all damn day.
It has been hard to get my morning walk in now that school is in session too. To really get everything done that I need to do in the morning, I have to get up at 4:30 am and be walking before 5 am. I'm trying to be at school this year by 7 am every day so I don't have to fight for the copy machine and I have some time to do what I need to do and mentally prepare myself for the day.
Busy busy busy
The main areas of my house were looking pretty good, but now they are sliding a little. It is my goal today to get them whipped back into shape.
My list of things to do is pretty long, and I AM still holding out a faint hope that I can go and see either Mr Woodcock or Shoot 'Em Up this afternoon. At one point, I thought I could see both this weekend, but I now realize this was a fool's dream. I also want to see The Brave One and The Bourne Ultimatum, but I know that the former was just released and will be around a while yet, and the latter is going to be in Kasson this week, so I can go and see it for $3 after school some night at the 4 pm matinee.
It always helps me if I write down what I need to do before I start, so I've made myself a little document in word and am about to paste it in here. Hope it works.

Whoo hoo! It did. As you can see, I did already start to do a little work today. Ingrid called and invited me over for breakfast. I didn't really want to go because I really felt like digging in to my cleaning today, but I haven't spent any time with her all week, and she IS going to go and pick up my new chair for me at the furniture store tomorrow--I think, anyhow. That was the plan, the last I heard.
I may have to call and ask her later.
Right now, I want to get started. Next on the list is the laundry--once that is started, I am going to pay bills.
I'll check off the items on the list as I get them done.
You are totally inspiring!

Date: 2007-09-16 10:02 pm (UTC)No way I would get up at 5 am just to walk before school. I don't even get up 5 min. early so I can eat breakfast.
I only wish my list was like yours. Very few items on my list match yours. My list has things like: reglasze the dining room windows, install old kitchen cabinet in garage above laundry sink. Stuff like that.
The Photovoltaic system is still OFF with no ON in site. Borrego Solar are morons. They put this thing in knowing from the start that I only had 60 amp service and it would need to be upgraded. So I upgraded it (and made them pay half) only to find it is in the wrong place. Which THEY KNEW. So it's off. I'm waiting to hear what they intend to do about it. If I don't hear from them in a timely manner, I'll just have it done and then deduct the cost from my final payment. They can take me to court if they want. My first two witnesses will be the city inspector and the netmetering guy from Sempra Energy (who is not pleased with them at all.)
The librarian from my old school has left to take a position at a newly rebuilt high school with a new, high tech (air conditioned) library. I've decided to bid on her old job. That's right; returning to my old school but as a librarian. I've heard mixed reviews of the situation and the principal, but.....there is too much at my current school I do not like and cannot change. Mostly money. I have no control over my own budgets and ordering. For that reason my magazines weren't renewed for this year. I still have no students registered in any of my Library Service classes. That means no help for textbook checkout. And if I don't get any students Leslie and I will be shelving the entire new sixth grade library collection by ourselves in our copious free time....like...14,000 books. And I had no parent volunteers to help for textbook checkout. I'm not allowed to recruit my own. I told the parent center in plenty of time and reminded them but no support there. I really like my library tech. And we have new computers going in. And Leslie and I have worked really hard to make our working spaces efficient.
I have no idea what my chances are going back to my old school. I know most of the teacher but all of the administration has changed. I've worked in that library for 3 semesters, I'm familar with the layout, the routine and the collection. I know technology, want to do inservices for staff, students and parents, want to work with the teachers on collaborative lessons. But...I don't know what the Principal's agenda is. I heard she wanted to put the job notice out outside the district from the start. The Union made her post it within the district first. So....no matter what I may not get the job. That's OK. I can stay where I am. I did hear that my old VP is now Principal of a school without a librarian. He says he's looking at creating a library position for next year. So....either I go to my old school this year or I go to his school next year or I stay where I am for a year or until I retire.
Whatever.
I did manage to get my house painted, but now that I'll have to have the electrical service (newly installed) and PV shutoff moved, I'll have to hire the guys back to patch all of the holes and paint over them. At least the paint will match because it's new.
The dicondra in the front yard is started to sprout. You can almost see it between all of the grass that is coming back. So I can pull and weed forever or find a chemical solution that will kill the grass....but not the dicondra.
Like I have time for all of this once school starts.
Where do you get the time? Where do you get the energy?
And can you put some in a box and mail it to me?
Re: You're getting the chair?
Date: 2007-09-20 01:00 pm (UTC)This chair is big and comfy. I feel like Captain James T. Kirk when I sit in it!
It is upholstered in the same fabric that my accent pillows on the couch are--paisley truffle. I like it a lot--I was hesitant because I usually don't like that sort of pattern. But the colors are muted enough that the pattern doesn't jump out and smack you in the face.
My vote for Borrego Solar is to send them a registered letter with a time limit for them to fix their mess, and stating that you will contact a private party to do the work and deduct it from their fee if they do not respond to this communication immediately.
Tell them that failure to reply constitutes acceptance of the deal.
Then, screw them and the pony they rode in on.
Believe me, I have no energy--I'm running on pure meanness and diet coke.
Heh heh
Re: You're getting the chair?
Date: 2007-09-21 02:50 am (UTC)Borrego Solar (may their name forever be linked to morons) have admitted the error of their ways and are paying an electrician to move my service to the back alley. My issue with him is he isn't moving it. He's just adding yet another panel. And stringing the wires from there to a new pole he wants to put on the other side of the garage and then to the service he just put in. That makes the replaced service a SUB panel and my old circuit breaker in the house a SUB SUB panel. How stupid is that?
I don't like diet coke.
