IT'S A SNOW DAY!!!!!!
I am so happy.
Unfortunately, I have wasted most of the morning on the phone. I talked to my mother for over an hour on the phone--then I talked to DeAnn who is supposed to be flying out of the Cities today to visit her friend Pat who lives out in the desert. Poor DeAnn said she was feeling cranky about this whole situation because she really wants to go and get exposure to some sunshine!! So far her flight is still scheduled to go.
It is unbelieveably nasty out there right now.
The loud crash of thunder woke me up this morning at about 4:30 am. Rain or sleet was pelting against my window, and I was disappointed because I figured rain meant that a snow day was out of the question. "Ice," I thought, with a little hope, and went back to sleep. I woke up again at around 5:30 am and checked the internet. I saw that Byron and Kasson were 2 hours late, so I turned off my alarm and went back to sleep. When I woke up at about 7, I saw that nearly everything, including ROC was either two hours late or closed. We were closed. YAY!!!
The snow must have come down really fast and thick. It looks like there is at least five inches out there--it was so high up on my door that I couldn't get my door open! I'll get my digital camera and take a couple pictures out the door so you can share in my amazement at the snowy situation.
There is a lot I want to accomplish today, including cleaning the bathroom and paying my bills, so I better get at that stuff. I'll be back later to post an update of my accomplishments. I also want to thoroughly clean my bedroom because in the next two weeks, I will get my income tax refund and then I can have my new bed delivered. Hurray!!!
I'd like to just BURN the old one--but I think I will set it up in my spare room in case I have any overnight company.
That's it for now.

Here you can see what the snow looked like early this morning--about 10 am. It has been snowing since then--but not as fast or as heavy as it had been earlier today.
I hope a good Samaritan comes and shovels out my driveway for me. I don't know how on earth I will get out if someone doesn't...
As much as I would like to have another snow day tomorrow, I find it VERY unlikely. Alas.
The Winter Exchange Clothes
Mar. 13th, 2006 02:26 pm
I made the gray flannel slacks and the blue flannel shirt, thinking of a quiet winter's evening sitting on the couch reading
a book--then it didn't seem very impressive, so I made a matching gray flannel coat and put silver bead buttons
down the front. It still didn't seem especially impressive, so I crocheted a scarf and a hat. I put two tiny star
shaped beads on the brim of the hat, and I think it makes it look quite striking! I hope the gal who will receive it will like it.
Tine for Sleeping
Mar. 13th, 2006 10:38 pmWhile I didn't get EVERYTHING that I wanted to do done, I got a lot done today.
I finished the laundry--and got all of it out of the basement, folded, hung, and put away.
I baked a roast with potatoes, onions and carrots.
I made a pot of spaghetti.
I made some cucumber salad (very yummy).
I did all the dishes from my cooking exploits.
I picked up all the clutter and sacked up lots of garbage.
I vaccuumed the dining room--didn't quite get to the living room--though I got a lot of stuff picked up in there.
Perhaps the most horrifying of all--I balanced my check book, sorted out my bills, and paid them--or as many of them as I could. I really HaTE paying bills.
Apparently I wasn't very emotionally connected to them today, however, as I didn't get insanely depressed and I did not puke--not even once. Usually, in paying bills, I puke a LOT.
I probably did a couple of other small tasks too--but I don't recall at the moment what they were.
NOW it is time for sleeping, since I am quite sure there will not be another blissful snow day tomorrow.
sigh.
Still--this one will make the week seem much, much shorter--and that is a very good thing.
I have some more pictures to put in tomorrow. Right now, I am just too tired to download them to flickr.
