OMG I'm tired.
Jun. 8th, 2008 11:03 pmI worked very very hard this weekend.
On Friday I went to bed super early--I was tired, and I fell asleep and would have slept till morning if the phone calls had not begun.
On Saturday, I woke up and cleaned my bathroom. It was so filthy that I felt fouled every time I entered the room. Now it is sparkling clean and smells fresh.
Ingrid called and invited me to go to Kasson for breakfast and to get groceries. I took her up on it--I was hungry, and she was driving, so it saved me some gas money. I bought $75 worth of groceries--and when I got home, I put them in the refrigerator and began to cook. I made a hotdish of the chow-mein cut chicken, rice, a little barley, carrots, onions, celery, and broccoli. It actually tastes pretty good.
I boiled eggs and potatoes for making potato salad later.
I sorted out my mail and paid my bills. That took a long, long time. I hadn't done it in three weeks or so. Eeek. The best news was that even though I was quite stressed, I didn't throw up at all in my bill paying extravaganza.
I drove the bills to the post office and threw them into the slot. DONE.
On Sunday I slept in. I got up and started backing. I baked oatmeal bars that did not turn out as they should have. They did something weird that I have never seen happen before. Right under the top crust of the bar this oily pool of melted butter and shortening. I siphoned it off with a spoon and kept baking until it appeared done. The bars taste ok, but they look like shit. I checked the recipe, and I followed it correctly.
I suspect that perhaps the pan I baked them in was too small. They baked for over two hours and stil are gooey in the center.
I also baked a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies to send to Michael in Detroit. I also baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies. My friends Jim and Deann are getting a bag of each. Michael is not a fan of chocolate, so he is only getting the oatmeal raisin ones.
I did dishes twice, I cleaned off and scrubbed the shelves. I swept and scrubbed the kitchen floor. I paid special attention to the corner where the litter boxes are because Miss Fuzzy Butt continuous to hang her ass over the side and pee onto the floor. I have two piddle pads artistically laid beneath the boxes so as to avoid further pee floods.
I did some proof reading for a friend that I promised I'd do, and now I am just setting in to go to sleep. I'm so tired and sore from all that scrubbing.
good night to all....
