Another Dream
Apr. 29th, 2020 12:37 pmSo, last night I went to bed earlier than normal. I wasn't that tired, but I was extremely bored and just didn't feel like doing anything. I fell asleep listening to one of the YouTube sleep enhancing meditations, but I woke up at about 2 am. The verbal part of the meditation had stopped and it was just some really annoying music. It was after 4 am before I could go back to sleep again. The wind was blowing hard, kind of howling and I could hear stuff getting blown around outside. It sounded like someone's garbage can was being blown down the street. Maybe that's what kept me from falling asleep.
Anyhow, when I did fall asleep at last, I had another one of my very detailed, very visual dreams.
In the dream, I was returning to the house where I lived in West Concord. It seemed I had been gone for quite some time--possibly I had been visiting my mother or something. The dream started with me pulling up to the house. I had to park on the street in front of the house because the driveway that was along the east side of the house was completely full of molded concrete yard ornaments. They were very large and ornate. Some looked like pergolas, and some looked like miniature models of the Taj Mahal or other famous structures. Some looked like giant sand castles. Some were just odd little shapes that could be assembled into intricate sculptures sort of like Legos the size of bricks or concrete blocks.
On the sidewalk that runs by the front of my house, I saw what appeared to be a lot of clay that had been piled about 6" deep and formed into shapes like those made on the beach or in sandboxes by children. Most of them looked like they were made from small terra cotta plant pots packed with clay and dumped upside down on the sidewalk. I kept thinking that mess was going to take a long time to clean up.
In reality, there was no garage attached to my house. There was a shed in the back that had been a small barn back in the day when every reasonably well off person had a couple of cows, even in town. That house was well over 100 years old. In the dream, there was a very large, at least 2 car garage along the front of the house. It was almost completely full of wooden yard decorations. They were also quite intricate. One was like a spiral stair case that was about four feet tall. It was rough wood--splintery instead of smoothly sanded, and neither stained nor painted. It appeared to be intended for use as a potted plant holder. Small potted plants could sit on each step. There were other wooden yard ornaments as well. One looked like a water wheel. There were also stacks of wooden pieces that could be put together into yard sculptures similar to the concrete ones, but these were more like Lincoln Logs or Tinker Toys. They didn't look anything like those items, but the could be put together like that. These things were all over the garage floor in piles and stacks. I was irritated as I couldn't park my car in the driveway or the garage.
My friend DeAnn and some lady I did not know where in my porch. Apparently this lady and her two very small children had been living in my house. She and DeAnn had been making all this stuff and storing it in my garage and driveway while I was gone and were planning to sell it at some flea market or craft fair or something. DeAnn and the lady left together but the two children were upstairs sleeping in one of the bedrooms.
When I went into the house, everything was a cluttered, dirty mess. There were clothes and dishes and toys and all kinds of junk all over the house. The kitchen was nasty and the furniture was gone. I was really annoyed that this woman and her children (none of whom I knew) were in my house and that they had made such a mess of everything. I was so mad that I couldn't park my car where it belonged. I wanted all that stuff off my property, but the lady and DeAnn were gone.
I also wondered if she'd be back to pick up her two kids who were kind of whiny and naughty. I thought I might be stuck with them indefinitely. They were probably two and four years old.
At some point my mother's minister and his wife and five kids were walking down the alley. Funny, since they live in Ellendale and would have no reason to be wandering around West Concord. Without thinking, I told them they could take as much of that "assemble yourself" stuff as they wanted. I suggested the kids might have fun making themselves a fortress out of that stuff and I wanted it off my driveway and out of my garage.
The kids were excited about it, and then I felt guilty giving away the stuff DeAnn and her friend had made. But I was also really irritated with them for taking over my house when I wasn't home.
Crazy dream. But so much detail! And all in living color.
