Josue turned two on Sunday, May 3.  His mommy and daddy, grandma, and I went to the Chinese buffet for lunch to celebrate his birthday.

Swayzy LOVES Winnie the Pooh .

This is Winnie, the daughter of the lady who runs the restaurant.  She looked so cute in her little Japanese outfit.  she was attracted to the birday party table.  I gave her a hat to wear,  and she snuggled up against me and chatted away during the whole time we were there.

Daddy helps Swayzy open his present from Grandma.

Swayze got a little barn full of books!  He loves his books.

Jim shows Winnie some of Swayzy's books.

All the folks from Josue's birthday.  Everyone smiled except for Josue.  I think he was feeling a little overwhelmed.

My fortune cookie said, "You have a magnetic personality."  It must have been working on Winnie, since she spent the majority of the time pressed tight up against me, her little cheek resting on my chest.

I went to Jim and DeAnn's house tonight--I ordered a couple of pizzas from Country Pizza and once they were delivered, I drove out to their house.  We got an "everything" pizza and a vegetarian pizza.  The vegetarian pizza was really good.  The "everything" pizza was okay too, but I am not a big fan of meat on pizza.  Josue ate most of the little chunks of sausage off my piece.  LOL.  He's a good eater.  But the rejected bits are hurled to the floor.

After supper, we adjourned to the living room where we watched a scintillating Bob the Builder DVD.  "Pets in Pickles" or someting like that.

Here are Swayze and DeAnn, totally aborbed in the dilemmas of Bob and his crew.  We are all in agreement that Bob and Wendy are deeply attracted to each other but for some reason can't commit.  Bob and Wendy need to stop burying their passion in fixing other people's broken shit and get to gettin' busy with each other!

Here is Swayze investigating my camera.  He is very curious about everything.

He wants the camera in this shot--you can see the desire in his eyes.  LOL.

This is later in the evening.  He is in his adorable footie pjs.  I could just eat him up.

He was awfully sweet tonight.  I got several kisses from him.  He is a very loving little boy.  I wish I could absorb a small fraction of his energy.

The moon was very bright tonight.  I heard on the radio that it is at perigee, which means that it is at it's closest to the earth at this point in it's orbit.  Jim made the mistake of showing it to Josue, who then insisted "More--More!  Mooon.  Mooooooon."

He really got a kick out of looking at the moon.

When DeAnn was trying to put him to sleep (in a good way), Jim went out to try to start my car, but it wouldn't start.  He had to get his little jump start machine to get it going.  It worked fine on the way home.  I hope it will start tomorrow.  I really need to get a few groceries.

On my way home, I dropped my bills off at the post office and dropped the water bill off at the City Hall.  Glad to have that much done.

Writing out my bills and getting them mailed is about all I accomplished today other than writing these livejournal entries.  I have to do better tomorrow.  I have to do laundry.  I need to tidy up the downstairs and do dishes.  Maybe I will bake.  I haven't baked anything since before Christmas.  I'd like to bake some oatmeal bars.

"Hump Day"

We are halfway through the week already--wow.  Time is going fast.  It won't be long before this quarter is DONE, and that will end the first half of the school year.  It is hard to comprehend.

Time is going too danged fast.  I'm going to lose some really good kids (via graduation, which is a good way to lose them, I guess) this year, and my heart is already starting to ache for them....

I will survive.  But I will miss my babies.

Sigh

Well, I got a lot of crap done at school today.  My whole desk was covered with an assortment of shit--papers, stuff needing to be filed, stuff needing to be corrected, and just a variety of crap.  While the kids worked on their assignments, I sorted through all that crap and clutter on my desk.  I got all but a small pile of stuff dealt with.  I should be able to deal with the rest of it tomorrow, even though I will be stuck doing breakfast, break, and lunch.  It isn't really hard to do this, and I enjoy bs-ing with the kids, but it hurts my knee (and my back BECAUSE OF my knee) to stand for so long.

After school tomorrow I have to meet with Jay and Robin for the mid-year English department evaluations.  Robin is not really certified to teach English.  Her certification is in Reading.  There are times when I really wish there was another certified English teacher on staff so we could brainstorm some classes to offer and ways to improve writing skills. .  But, mostly things go okay.

Because it is Wednesday, the kids got released just before noon.  The teachers cae together in the board room for the Wednesday meeting.  It went well--thing progressed quickly and we were done by 2:00 or so.  I looked up the website for Cinemagic and discovered that The Day the Earth Stood Still was on at 2:40.

I have been wanting to see that movie since I heard it was being made, even though I expected it to fall far short of the original.  Well, it was not as good as the original, but it was far better than I expected;  So, I enjoyed it.

GORT was cool.  I'd love to have a defender of the universe like him.  LOL

well, I have a few pictures.

The first is a picture of my new bedspread.  I love how dainty and fresh it looks.

Next I have a couple of photos of Josue with DeAnn and Jim.  He was in too rapid of motion for me to catch his face either time, but he was in very rare form.  Busy as a bee.

Jim made a big bowl of popcorn, and Josue LOVES popcorn--though eventually most of it ended up on the floor.  LOL.

And my last picture is of the adorable red polka-dot shirt I made for Dave Kelley's granddaughter.  She gets the doll modeling it as well.  I finished off a pair of striped bib overalls to go with it--but I have to sew on snaps and  buttons for the straps.

That's it for tonight.  I keep dozing off as I am typing, and that is NOT a good thing.

Well, the first couple days of workshop went well.  I'm already tired.  LOL.  I needed the weekend to recover--after only two days.  Of course, it was a lot of talking and sitting work.  I find that more tiring than teaching.

I got some of my stuff ready for my classes and other forms printed off for my homeroom kids for scheduling.  I will have nine kids total--I'll get Cody, Tyler, Drew, and Zach
back.  I'll have five new kids.  I hope they all meld well.  I lost Christine and Lisa as they graduated last year.  Monique is going into a different homeroom as Jay thinks that would be best for her.  (I am a little too soft--she needs someone a little tougher.)

Not much else to say about school...I'm looking forward to seeing the kids on Tuesday.  I love summer, but I do miss working with my kids.  They give me a kind of energy that I can't get any other way.

Yesterday I spiffed up my house, especially downstairs.  I had a bunch of clutter piling up.  I don't want it to get out of control just because school is starting up.

I had a sinkful of dishes (mostly knives and glasses) to wash, and I sacked up a lot of trash.  My butt has been dragging both today and yesterday--not used to being back on the "school schedule" yet.  I'll adjust soon.

Jim and DeAnn asked me if I wanted to go out for supper with them last night--after Ingrid had asked if I wanted to go to see the new Mummy movie and go out for supper.  Then Ingrid called back later and said she was too tired to go to the movie, and just wanted to do supper.  So, I suggested we all go to supper together.  We went to the Chinese Buffet by Walmart.

Josue was a little fussy in the car on the way to town--giving out a few blood-curdling squeals of discontent--but he was fine in the restaurant.  He is so much fun  to watch when he eats.  He shoves  the food in his mouth then says, "MMmmmmmmmmmm."  It's just so darn cute.  He's especially fond of watermelon and strawberries.  And he loves rice.  He loves it when I pretend to eat up his fingers and giggles like a little fiend.

Ingrid brought me some Barbie sized wicker furniture that she bought at a garage sale--I didn't have the heart to tell her I already had two or three sets exactly like it--she thought she had done such a wonderful thing.  And it WAS wonderful--very sweet of her to buy it for me.  Also, it was in excellent shape, and I have a TON of Barbies who need places to sit.

I rode home with Ingrid in her VW beetle convertible with the top and windows down.  It was almost chilly.  But it was refreshing.

When I got home I watched a couple episodes of CSI:  SVU.  I am madly in love with Elliot Stabler.  LOL.

Then, I chatted with a couple of friends on Instant Messenger and went to sleep.  And speaking of sleep--I'm feeling ready for a nap right now.

*yawn*

My two big goals for today are doing laundry and getting my bills paid.  I also need to clean out the fridge.  I bought some chicken which did not get cooked, and I am sure it is no good.  Chicken doesn't last long.
