June19 through 23

I had a productive day!
I gathered all the garbage throughout the house, cleaned out the refrigerator, and did the dishes. Then I hauled the garbage and recycling outside to the bins. I cleaned the cat boxes and caught up with my DW entries. In the afternoon, Ross delivered my grocery order. I got all the groceries wiped down and put away. One of the things I bought was a 3.39 lb beef roast which cost me $23 and some cents! YOWSER. I may even have to lick up the grease in the bottom of the pan for that price.
The little piano I bought for the LeeAnn dolls arrived; I opened the package and recycled the box. It appears to be just about perfect for them. It would be better if it was slightly bigger, but when you "play" with dolls, you have to be willing to suspend your disbelief.
I watched and deleted more episodes of Wagon Train. I'm getting close to being done with them.
Saturday, June 20
Lily brought me over a cinnamon roll and a caramal roll from Mary Groth. They were both so delicious. That Mary makes the best sweet rolls! Much better than the ones they make at the local restaurant.
I ate one of the plums I got from Lerbergs. It wasn't the best--a little sour. I'm letting the other four sit for a few days, hoping they will ripen a bit more. The peaches and nectarines feel pretty hard, so they will be sitting out for a few days to ripen too before I eat them. I may turn the peaches into cobbler. We'll see.
I spent most of the day working on my embroidery on the Christmas table runner and watching more Wagon Train.
There was a nice rain shower late in the day. All the lawns look green and beautiful.
Sunday, June 21
I had a refreshing shower before filling my pill caddy. Peaches helped. She is always so fascinated by anything I am trying to do. She doesn't realize that the temptation to jettison her into next week is strong when she does this.
I worked on my table runner and watched and deleted episodes of Wagon Train most of the day.
I ate bologna on toast and several slices of celery with cream cheese late in the afternoon.
Caleb and Kari came over in the late afternoon and dragged my recycling and garbage to the curb. The garbage can was especially full and there was a remarkable amount in the recycling too. Glad to get rid of it.
Just before sundown, there was a really intense thunderstorm--lots of thunder and lightning and a deluge of rain! It lasted quite a while. We were in a severe thunderstorm watch, but I don't think it actually escalated to that level.
I finished watching and deleting all the remaining Wagon Train episodes before I went to bed! Yay me! Of course, the auto recording continues to add an episode a day. Hopefully I do not fall too far behind.
Monday, June 22
Lily had an appointment at the clinic to get her blood and urine tested. She went grocery shopping afterwards and picked me up a pint of my favorite pasta salad. She dropped it off for me on her way back to town to get her hair cut. I ate the whole pint for lunch. It was so good! It was the only thing I did eat for lunch.
As I ate the salad, I worked on doing a lot of dishes, pausing to grab a bite or two of salad from time to time. Then I got out my expensive beef roast, put it in the pan, and peeled potatoes, onions, and carrots and chopped up the small head of cabbage I bought. I was very irritated to discover that the damned refrigerator had frozen my bag of carrots again. I JUST got them on Friday and they are already frozen solid. This week, I will be calling to find out what a new fridge will set me back. I will be getting a Whirlpool in stainless steel as that is what all my other appliances are. I am going to get one with the freezer in the bottom as I HATE the side-by-side fridge. I do like the icemaker, so that is probably going to be part of it too. I don't need the water dispenser as I get the Culligan water jugs.
Once the roast beef was in the oven, I cleaned the strawberries and sliced them up. They were PERFECT. Sweet, ripe, and juicy. There was only one berry in the two pound carton that was greenish. I am probably going to make my grandma's shortcake recipe and have them over that. It is truly the bomb.
I also gutted, peeled, and chopped the muskmelon which is also absolute perfection. I ate quite a bit of that as I prepared it. Yum. So sweet, juicy, and delicious. Next time I order groceries, I will probably get a watermelon.
When I was done dealing with food, I washed all the dishes up.
When the roast was done and I took it out of the oven, I dished up a plate to eat. Somehow, I managed to splash a big splurt of the hot liquid onto my right knee. It hurt like a bitch! I'm just glad I didn't tip the whole roaster over onto myself. My shoulder is so sore that I find it hard to lift an object as heavy as a full roaster out of the oven. Fortunately, my reflexes are pretty good. I immediately pulled the fabric away so the hot liquid had only a couple seconds of contact with my skin. It turned red but didn't blister.
Caleb stopped on his way home from work and dragged the garage can back up to the house.
Then I settled in to work on the embroidery project again.
Tuesday, June 23
My biggest accomplishment of the day was getting three loads of laundry washed, dried, and folded. Usually I don't get the whole thing done in a day. Everything else I did was pretty minimal. I gathered up the recycling and put it in the breezeway bin. I put the 12-pack of ginger ale in the fridge. I warmed up a plate of my beef roast.
Nola called and told me she was on her way over with the yarn she offered me. Holy crap! She brought me five HUGE boxes of yarn! They are stacked up in my breezeway. Not sure where I will store all that!
I ate leftover roast beef for lunch and bologna on toast and muskmelon for supper. Now that the muskmelon is cold, it is even more delicious. Yum.
I didn't do any embroidery today. I am giving it a rest. I spent a little time on the internet earlier, reading up on the Lincoln project and catching up on the latest lunacy of the idiot in the White House.
I watched the movie White House Down early this evening. When that was over, I watched Fever Pitch, which is my favorite baseball movie.
That's about it for today. I am tired so will probably go to bed pretty early. I will not put the clean laundry away till tomorrow. Just too tired to do it tonight. I did put away my towels and the clean sheets. But the actual clothing is in a basket in the bedroom.
