Thursday, February 25

I achieved moderate productivity today.  The Sheba cat pods are now stacked in the headboard of my bed so Peaches can have her soft food handy for her bedtime feeding.  I sacked up the garbage and recycling from the bedroom, bathroom, and living room and bagged up the big bin of recycling from the breezeway with the other recycling.  The heavy garbage from the kitchen was hard to get out of the can, but I was able to get it out, tie it up, and drag it to the breezeway.  Finally, I sorted and washed the laundry.  It was a lot of work, but I felt very happy to get it taken care of.

Lily had gone to Owatonna earlier in the day and picked me up a couple six packs of Diet Coke and a loaf of French bread, so she stopped over to drop that stuff off.  Her daughter wanted her to look into donating money to the Tim Tebow Foundation.  She wanted me to help her find information about it online, so I looked it up and told her what it said about his ministry.  She also wanted me to find information for her about Potiphar’s wife for her Bible study.  Apparently, the next session will be focusing on her.  So, I looked that up and found a bunch of interesting information about that story and a picture of Potiphar’s name in hieroglyphics.  She wanted me to take pictures of that and some other things and send them to her phone via text message so she could show it to her Bible study group.

She saw the bags of garbage and recycling and took them out to the bins for me.  I told her she didn’t have to—I just dragged them out to the breezeway so I could haul them out later, but she insisted.  The recycling was very light, but that garbage was heavy.

Friday, February 26

Today I folded some laundry, broke down a bunch of cardboard boxes to go out with the recycling, cleaned the cat litter boxes, and washed the dishes.  My bananas had reached the stage of over ripeness where they were too mushy to be good for straight eating, so I mashed them up and turned them into a banana cake.  It smelled SO GOOD while it was baking!  I put cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg in my banana cake so it is very fragrant.

Ross delivered my groceries.  I didn’t get a ton of groceries, but it did include a big package of Charmin toilet paper, a case of bottled water, and a six pack of Bounty paper towels.  I got two huge portobella mushrooms which are just gorgeous.  I can’t wait to eat those delicious things.  I love mushrooms.  I got my groceries wiped down and put away and made myself a bowl of clam chowder for supper.  I was disappointed.  It was not as good as it usually is.

I was too tired to frost the cake, so I will do that tomorrow.

Spring was in the air today, and the sunset tonight was absolutely gorgeous—the whole sky was the most amazing shade of red.

Saturday, February 27

I frosted the banana cake with homemade cream cheese frosting and cut four generous sized pieces for each Mom and Lily.  I also gave Lily two grapefruit and two small squashes along with a bag full of the containers she had brought various food for me in earlier.  I gave Mom two grapefruit and a small bunch of asparagus.  Lily stopped over to bring me two of the  cinnamon rolls Mary Groth always gives us on Saturdays.  She kindly offered to take the stuff for Mom’s to her house.

Lily took the very small bag of garbage I had in the kitchen to the bin then rolled the bin to the curb.  My garbage bin was pretty full.  She was on her way to the post office, so she took the two bills that I needed mailed with her as well.  I am so thankful for all the little things she does for me.

Today was sunny and beautiful, and the snow has been melting like crazy.  Apparently it is supposed to snow tomorrow.  I am so ready for spring.  I am so sick of winter.

Sunday, February 28

All my joints are aching and making me miserable.  I took a very hot shower which helped.  I have to get my bathtub installed soon so I can soak in very hot water when my body aches like this.  Since it is Sunday, I had to fill my pill caddy.  Peaches always thinks she has to “help” me do this, and she is a huge pain in the ass rather than the helper she thinks she is.

Apparently it snowed a little in the night but didn’t amount to anything.  Up where Tammy lives, they got about four inches.  It melted all day and I can see large patches of lawn now.  It really makes me hope that spring will be early.  However, I know that Mother Nature can be a tricky bitch and can bury us in up to 20” of snow as late as mid May.

I am very excited that The Walking Dead is back from hiatus tonight.  I love that show and am excited to see what is going to happen now that the “whisperers” have been roundly defeated.

Monday, March 1, 2021

Today I have been extremely lazy.  I got two packages—one was another package of Sheba “cuts” cat food for Peaches.  The other was a package of doll wigs which were on sale on Denis’s website.

Today was cooler than yesterday, but there was bright sunshine and the great melting continues.  Water was running off my roof very enthusiastically.  Lily is feeling very poorly today.  All her joints are hurting her, and she said she can barely get out of her chair or walk.  I told her to take it easy and try a very hot shower to loosen up her muscles.  Poor thing.  This is bad weather for arthritis.

I napped a little this afternoon after taking a couple of the arthritis formula Tylenol.  That stuff seems to knock me out.  I didn’t eat much yesterday or earlier today, so for supper, I made a baked potato and a couple of fish tacos out of frozen fish patties.  The fish wasn’t that great but it was not horrible either.  I might throw the rest of the box away.  There are four patties left but they are 90% breading.  I have lots of other food in the freezer that is no doubt better than those fish things.

Nothing else worth talking about has occurred.
