Saturday, June 12

Good news.  My sister Joni is finally beginning to feel better.  The mystery disease is losing its grip on her.  I never did have any serious side effects from my second Covid shot, so I am thankful for that.  My arm was only sore for a little over a day.

Tammy took in two cats from a feral cat rescue.  Both were on the termination list.  Both of these were actually not feral.  “Jack Black,” a gorgeous, fuzzy black and white cat, comes from a home where his human momma has cancer.  The stress of this has caused him to begin peeing all over the house.  The gray boy, “Koa,” was also surrendered.  I am not sure why—perhaps his owner died.  But he is a very shy little boy who is still hiding.  Koa and Jack Black are not a bonded pair, so I hope they learn to get along with each other.

Tammy got them to deal with the chipmunk infestation in her barn, so they will become barn cats.  Apparently Jack Black is a celebrated hunter who has decimated the rodent and bird population of his former home.  Tammy turned one of the old horse stalls into a living space for the cats, complete with a cat tree, two easy chairs, a little padded bench, rugs, litterboxes, and toys.  Hopefully the cats will enjoy their new home eventually.

I caught up with my DW entries today.  That’s about all I accomplished other than talking on the phone.

Sunday, June 13

Before my Zoom meeting with DeAnn, I filled my pill caddy and did my morning stuff—tested my blood sugar, read my daily devotional book, and took my meds and vitamins.  DeAnn and I had another excellent session.  We are not going over the book in great detail, but we are covering a lot of related material as we experience it in our lives.  Both of us are feeling the benefits of these weekly meetings.

Both the elements of synchronicity and the law of attraction seem to be in play for us.

It’s good to feel like progress is being made.

I spent the rest of the day messing around on my computer and watching TV.  I have a lot of stuff on my DVR, and I have been trying to watch and eliminate it.  If I do ultimately move into my aunt’s house and she moves into the senior living center, all that stuff on the DVR will be lost, and I really want to watch some of it.

My bathroom had entered into an extreme state of disgustingness, so this morning, before I even got dressed, I attacked it.  I scrubbed the inside and outside of the toilet, behind and around it, and even wiped all the dust off the little container that holds the plunger and toilet brush.  Then I scrubbed the sink, the dusty baseboards that were coated with cat hair, swept and scrubbed the floor, and washed the bathroom rugs.  I can hardly wait until my vaccination is 100%  effective in two weeks so I can go to a store and buy new bathroom rugs.  I HATE these.  They slip and slide, they are not the right size to serve the purpose I need them for, and I am not crazy about the color either.

Since I was already in the laundry room, I sorted and started my laundry and put away the last dregs of last week’s laundry which were still in the laundry basket.  I have become lazy and just wear stuff that I pull out of the laundry basket.  I never go anywhere or do anything anyhow, so who cares?

After that, I swept the living room/hallway/dining area.  I ran out of steam before I got it scrubbed, but oh, well.  It isn’t that horrible.  The bathroom was the place that desperately needed cleaning.  And now it shines and smells lovely in there.

After that, I picked up my mother so we could water Lily’s pots of flowers.  Then we drove to Owatonna.  We had a nice sighting of the swans and their babies on the swamp.  There is road construction most of the way to Owatonna so we had to sit and wait for extended periods of time in three separate places.  That was boring.  I will not be using that road again any time soon.  We got burritos and potato ole’s at Taco Johns and ate them at Lake Kohlmeier.

There were quite a few people frolicking at the lake and in the water.  A guy parked next to us, and his little boy (3-4 years old) hopped out of the back seat carrying the kind of fish net that one uses for a fish bowl or aquarium.  Because I am one of those people who talk to random strangers, I asked the little fellow if he was going to catch a fish.  He stared at me blankly (shy), and his dad responded, “LOTS of them!”  So I wished him good luck while he and his dad walked off towards the beach.  As they walked away I noticed that his little swim shorts were too big for him and were hanging at half-mast, revealing about half of his little bottom.  Little kids’ butts are always so cute.  I hope he doesn’t get a sun burn on that tender flesh.  And I hope he indeed caught LOTS of fish in his little net.

When I got back to Ellendale, I dropped off my mother then had a nice afternoon nap in my recliner.  My shoulder was really sore after doing all the cleaning and scrubbing.  I sure wish I still had Cynthia to help me clean.  My shower curtain and liner need to be taken down and washed, but with my bad shoulder and knees, I just cannot reach up and unsnap all those little rings and getting the curtains and the snaps back together again would be even worse.

I really need to find a professional cleaning service to come and give my house a thorough cleaning and do all the things I am not able to do once a month.  It would be so worth the cost.

Tuesday, June 15

I unboxed my two big packages that came the other day.  I got the cute desk set which is far bigger than I thought it would be.  Oh, well.  I have dolls of every size.  One will work.  I also got two wooden storage things that were also MUCH bigger than I thought they would be.  Well, I will find a use for them.  Goodness knows I have a lot of things that need a place to “live.”

I broke down all that cardboard and some other cardboard I had laying around the house.  While I did this, I was watching a movie—The Canterville Ghost—starring /Charles Laughton as the ghost, Margaret Obrien as his six year old descendent, and Robert Young as an American GI who is ALSO a descendent of the family who moved to the U.S.  I really enjoyed it.  I think it was made in the 1940s.  I love those old movies.

My sister moved Jack Black into the garage since the cats were freaking out in the barn, and the little shit broke the screen out of the window and escaped into the night.  He is currently missing and, I hope, has not been run over by a car or eaten by a coyote.  Tammy has called all the animal rescue people and made fliers with his picture and her phone number, so hopefully he will be captured and returned.  I think he went in search of his original momma who has cancer and was no longer able to care for him and he was being naughty, peeing everywhere.

Wednesday, June 16

I wasn’t very motivated to do much today, but in the afternoon, I went into the kitchen, unloaded my dish drainer, washed the sink full of really nasty dirty dishes, cleaned and cut up a small watermelon, ate a few chunks of said watermelon, and made myself some toast with slices of salami on it and washed and cut up a delicious honey crisp apple for dessert.  While my toast was toasting, I wiped down my counters and stove top which really needed it.  Before I left the kitchen, I cleaned some old stuff out of the refrigerator, bagged up the kitchen garbage, and hauled it and another bag of garbage to the bin outside.  The kitchen garbage was heavy, but I managed to lift it up and get it into the bin.

Peaches had puked three times, so I got that all cleaned up.  I think the heat/humidity gets to her.

I didn’t do much of interest today.  I watched some random TV shows, messed around on my computer, and watched some videos on YouTube.  I like to watch those videos where they go into derelict houses and explore them.  There are some beautiful homes in this country that have just been left to rot away.  It is such a shame.  The woodwork, windows, stained glass, and other architectural elements are absolutely gorgeous.  Lots of times there is gorgeous vintage furniture left behind too.  Sometimes even china and other items that would be worth salvaging.  One time there was a house just packed with old dolls.  Most of them were in terrible shape because the roof had been leaking on them for years.

If I was able to explore those houses, I would not leave any poor abandoned doll alone.  I would take them home, clean them up, and make them a part of my doll family.

I also watched a few videos of crazy anti-mask lunatics acting like their brains had been sucked out through their ears.  I don’t have the patience to watch many of those.  I watched a really good video about making 60s looking chairs to fit Barbie dolls.  I may attempt to make some of those.
