Wednesday, January 18

I was so tired both physically and emotionally that I forgot to set my alarm last night.  I think I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.  I know I got up at least twice in the night to pee.  I woke up this morning when I got a text from DeAnn at 10 am telling me that she was getting dressed.  I told her I had forgotten to set the alarm and was just awakened by the text chime.  She told me to take my time as she had plenty to work on until I got there.

So, I got up, much to the dismay of Sawyer who was snuggled tightly  to my left side, on his back, all for feet in the air, purring loudly.  I was so happy to find him in that position as I was afraid he would be angry with me for putting him in a cat carrier and taking him to the vet and that he would give me the cold shoulder for a while.  Nope.  He was just as loving and sweet as he could be.  I think he already feels a thousand times better after seeing the vet.  I did not see him shaking his head or clawing his ears once.  And he just seemed perkier and happier as well.

Thank God, we got him to the vet before the storm hit.  The storm is coming later tonight and could dump up to 9” of snow on us.  I’m hoping for much less.  The other cats seemed happier today too.  The medicine must be having positive effects on all of them.  The vet said it was a ONE DOSE cure.  So, yay!

Anyhow, it took me about half an hour to do my essential morning routine, get dressed, and feed the cats. Then DeAnn and I discussed our intentions for the day.  She was going to be working on her sabbatical stuff.  My intentions included unboxing the three boxes of stuff that were delivered this week—two from Chewy.com and one from Target.com.  The Target box had the two wooden storage boxes that I suspect  will make wonderful rooms for the Barbie scale dolls.  They are a little smaller than I had hoped,  but they will work great for children doll bedrooms.  There were also some vitamins in that package.  I bagged them up with the stuff I bought from Walmart yesterday and took them to my bedroom.  When I go to bed tonight, I will put them in the shoe-box sized tote where I keep my meds and vitamins.  There were also three bags of candy—miniature Butterfingers, miniature Mounds, and a bag of Werthers hard caramel candy.  The Chewy boxes contained four boxes of chunky Sheba pods, three 30 oz boxes of Temptations treats, and two bags of dry cat food.  I unboxed the pods and stacked them in the cupboard under the television and put the boxes of treats and bags of dry food in there too.  I stacked up the cardboard boxes to pass on to Lily the next time she comes.  If she doesn’t want them, I will break them down to recycle.

I gave the squirrels and blue jays peanuts and grapes today.  There was a lot of wild life activity on my deck today, and the cats were LOVING the show.  I suspect the animals and birds were filling up because they can sense that a nasty storm is on the way.

My mother called in the middle of the Zoom and talked  for quite a while.  She had talked to Joni and Tammy and was on a regular rant about Jeff and how Joni should leave him before he drains all her retirement money from her and how she should NEVER have pulled her retirement money out in a lump sum.  This went on for some time.  I admit, I agree with her for the most part, but Joni’s  got to make that decision on her own.  No one can force her to boot that loser out.

DeAnn and I talked a bit more.  She kept working on her sabbatical stuff, and I worked on stuff around the house.  Eventually, DeAnn needed to go to the store as she was out of bread and tomorrow will  be stormy.  So we said good-bye.  We will meet again on Sunday.

After that, I cleaned the three litter boxes in the breezeway and swept the floor.  I fretted a bit about what to eat for supper then decided to take out one of the individual cheese pan pizzas.  Last time, I microwaved one and it was dreadful.  Tonight, I baked it in the oven.  It still wasn’t great, but it was better than making it in the microwave.  While it was baking, I put away the clean dishes, washed the dirty dishes, and wiped down the counter and straightened up the spice rack.  The spices were all over the place.  I suspect feline interference with the spices. Those little shits are always on my counter.

When the pizza was done, I put it on a paper plate, sliced it into four tiny pieces, and threw a handful of carrot sticks onto the plate so I had a vegetable.  I stuck an orange in my pocket for dessert.  I have not eaten the orange yet, but I will eat it after I finish my DW journal entry.

I am really tired again tonight.  I think the main reason is that I hurt everywhere.  I am sure the coming storm is also playing a role in that. For some reason, the bulk of the pain has centered in my left shoulder.  It hurts so much that I can’t lift my arm up to put something on the high shelf in the refrigerator.  This has happened before, and it will probably be better as soon as this storm rolls through.  Right now, I am just wishing that I had an ice pack.  I think that might help.

I really wish I had the stamina to fold the load of white clothes in the dryer, but I just don’t feel like I have it in me.  I guess I will do it tomorrow.

In fact, I don’t think I have it in me to do much for the rest of the night.  I need to call Lily so she doesn’t feel abandoned, and perhaps I will cut out one of the two doll clothes patterns that still need to be cut out.  I am going to try to be in bed my 9:30 or 10 so I can snuggle with my kitties and sleep off this damn pain.

If worse comes to worse, I still have one oxy pill left from the last time I was in the hospital.  Yay  good drugs!
