January 20-21

I woke up around 10 am. My shoulder and arm were so sore still. I decided to take a really hot shower in hopes of loosening up the muscles. In the shower, I noticed that on the sore arm, there was a large reddish spot on the inside of my arm.
Later, around 1 pm, Lily came to get me. I went to her house to help her fill out some forms and to work on her recipe book project. I typed several recipes on Friday afternoon and evening. Lily sorted out the recipes she wanted me to type and I typed them and saved them to the folders that we’ve made for all the different categories of recipes.
Lily made a stir fry with chicken and vegetables and brown rice with a grape jello salad that had crushed pineapple and cool whip in it. It tasted pretty good. That’s the kind of thing we used to make and eat all the time when I was a kid.
When I got ready for bed, I discovered that my sore arm was incredibly bruised. There was a patch on the inside of my arm as big as a baseball that was literally a purply black color. On the outside of my arm was a smaller (but still big) bruise that was more grayish reddish color. My left arm was also swelled up a lot bigger than my right arm. That scared me a little. I was glad I was staying over night with Lily—just in case something happened. I showed it to Lily and she thought I should call the nurse line and possibly go to the ER. I, of course, didn’t feel there was any need to go and run up another big bill with Alina. It wasn’t hurting as much as it was before.
I figured I’d see how it was in the morning. If it was worse, I would call the nurse line and do what they said.
Lily and I watched a few episodes of Family Feud before we went to bed.

I didn’t sleep well last night. Lily’s guest bed is hard and not very comfortable, and I was so cold when I first went to bed. I was just shaking. I suspect part of that was anxiety as I was worried about how black and blue and swollen my arm was. The thing that bothers me the most is that I have no idea how I hurt it. I figure it either happened when I came up the step from the breezeway to the main part of the house and leaned against the door frame. I sort of remember that it hurt. And the other possibility is that I woke up in the night and the sleeve of my pajama was twisted around my arm, just about the elbow. It was really tight and hurt a lot. But I didn’t untangle it because Sawyer was sleeping in the crook of my arm. He looked so sweet I didn’t want to disturb him. So, I didn’t do anything about the twisted sleeve. It may have cut off my circulation and caused this to happen. Also, I am on blood thinners so that would make any bruising worse.
Anyhow, I did not sleep well. I listened to some stuff on YouTube throughout the night and wished that morning would hurry up and come so I could get up. I briefly considered getting up and going to the computer to work on my recipe typing, but I was afraid Lily would hear me typing on the computer and wake up.
I did get about three brief periods of sleep. I woke up at 7:30 and decided I would get dressed and go work on the computer since the sun was up and Lily was up too. I typed up a lot of Lily’s recipes. I really made good progress yesterday and today. Typing the recipes is kind of relaxing for me. I enjoy it. Also, when we are done getting the recipes typed up, we will print them off and turn them into a recipe book, and I will get a copy of it for my participation in the construction. Lily is an excellent cook and has a large collection of recipes.
While I typed, Lily made us one of her favorite breakfasts—an apple pancake. It isn’t the same as a pannenkoeken, which is a traditional (and delicious) Dutch pancake with friend apples or other ingredients. Lily’s pancake was okay—it was very pretty. But I do prefer the pannenkoeken.
I took a break from typing to eat, and then went back to it while Lily worked on an apple dumpling that we could eat later. I got a lot more recipes typed before 1 pm when Lily went to pick up my mother and bring her over to watch movies and eat supper afterwards.
Nola walked over, and I showed her our recipe project. She was impressed with how much work we have accomplished over the last couple of years. I am feeling more committed to the project now. I am considering dedicating one day a week to working on it. I’d like to be sure the project is done while Lily is still here.
We watched two movies: Where the Crawdads Sing and Two Tickets to Paradise. I read Where the Crawdads Sing a while ago. There were some parts in the movie that were not in the book, but it was a pretty good movie version. I liked the first movie better that the Julia Roberts/George Clooney movie, but it was okay too.
Finn, Lily’s cat, sat on my lap for a long time. He is such a beautiful Siamese boy.
After the movies, we ate potato soup with chunks of ham, garlic bread, and apple dumpling. Then we sat around and talked for a while before Lily drove us all home. We dropped my mom off first, then Lily and Nola dropped me off. They helped me get my “go bag” into the house and made sure I got safely inside. Nola asked if there was anything else they could do for me, so I asked if they’d haul my bag of garbage and recycling to the bins. That was a great help. I hope I can get the rest out tomorrow. If my shoulder will hold up to do it. I will also need to clean the cats’ litterboxes tomorrow. I should have done it today, but I just didn’t have the stamina when I got home. I had to do my evening prayers and feed the cats and clean up their messes. They had spent the time I was gone tearing stuff up and scattering things everywhere.
Tomorrow, I will Zoom with DeAnn. If I can get the garbage out to the bins tomorrow, I will see if my brother or nephew will haul the bins to the curb.
Nola said that we are supposed to get more snow this week. I hope not. I want to get that doctor’s appointment over with on Friday. My weather app has Friday as the only day that snow is indicated, but Nola said she had heard we could get several days of snowy crap weather.
That’s about it for me for today. It’s after 11 and I need to get to bed so I can get up to do my Zoom with DeAnn. I did not sleep well last night, so I need to sleep tonight.
