Another Day....
Apr. 24th, 2012 10:13 pmI started my laundry last night when mom was gone to her music thing. I got two loads washed and one dried before I crashed. Mom came down and did her laundry this morning. This afternoon, I finished my last load. It's in the dryer now. It's done, but I don't feel like folding it at the moment. Something to do for tomorrow.
There were three drawers down here that were still full of crap of mom's. I unloaded all three, put the stuff in a small, flat tote, and put it in the laundry room under my stack of laundry baskets. I moved my pajamas into the drawer closest to my bed. In the one next to that, I put some of my note cards and stamps and swiffer pads and stuff like that. So far, the final drawer just has some doll shoes and some materials that I am keeping for my sister Kim. I've lived here for a year, and Mom hasn't been in those drawers once--and all the stuff in there could pretty much just as well be tossed in the garbage. But, I put it in a neat and safe place.
It is unlikely she will even notice it. Ever.
I sorted out some patterns and stuff today and moved these patterns that I use frequently into a larger tote that has a rim for hanging folders and also a cover to keep out dust and curious cats. I'm going to try to find another place for my cheapo two-drawer file cabinets which are difficult to access and taking up valuable space under my desk. I'd like to put fabric filled totes there and keep the patterns I use the most either on the table or near the bed in a little "hidey hole."
I need things to both LOOK neat AND be accessible. It is difficult to achieve both when you are living in a shoe box.
I started reading one of my vintage young adult books salvaged from the Triton dumpsters several years ago. It is Angry Waters by Walt Morey. It's not very thick. I should be able to finish it by tomorrow night if I don't get side tracked. It's about a 15 year old boy who fell in with the wrong crowd, got involved in a robbery "by accident," and is now living with a farmer and his family and working there as opposed to going to juvenile detention. I'm sensing a very predictable story, but sometimes, I kinda like that.
Not much else is new.
I had toast and with cheddar cheese on it for breakfast/lunch at about 2 pm. Mom made popcorn for supper at about 5:30. I'm hungry now, but it's too late to make anything food-like to eat. So, I am munching on some Easter surplus sour jelly beans that I bought for half-price at Walmart after Easter. I should have made some crackers with peanut butter I suppose, but I wasn't feeling it.
The best thing to do is just go to sleep and think about bacon and eggs. Mom has Bible study tomorrow, so maybe I will creep upstairs and make myself bacon and eggs for lunch. Or maybe I'll sneak off to Owatonna and go to Perkins and have someone SERVE me bacon and eggs. It always tastes better when someone ELSE cooks it. LOL.
I want to work on my desk tomorrow too--it is really disorganized and messy. The cats keep walking on it and knocking stuff off, which is why I need to containerize things.
I got an email from Denis Bastien, and my dolls have been upgraded. I can hardly wait to get them back. They will be so much more satisfying to play with when they are more posable. I've cut out some cute springy dresses which are the same pattern but in four different colors. I think they'll look really cute in them.
I guess that's it for me for today. Nothing too thrilling.
