Caleb's GI Joe Barracks
Jun. 19th, 2012 02:05 amThe map on the wall came from the GI JOE google search--it is the map of all the COBRA operative known locations. LOL.
I thought it gave the proper touch of "realism" to the JOE world.
Each of the three beds has a felt mattress shallowly stuffed with fiber fill, a felt pillow, also stuffed with fiberfill and a green felt blanket. The mattresses are glued onto a base I constructed of cardboard and covered with contact paper to match the floor.
Cora complained that there was no door, but I said that it was an underground barracks and they had to get into it with a rope ladder that was invisible. LOL.
Imagination. One must use it.

Date: 2012-06-19 08:04 am (UTC)BTW my brother had a G. I. Joe but the old school one. Bigger than a Barbie with ball joints and weird hand so he could hold and shoot a rifle. He lost his left foot or hand along the way somewhere so we said he lost it in the war. I think he had fuzzy hair at some point that rubbed off and left him semi-bald, like a cancer patient.
Never did see the attraction. My brother played with him somewhat but he only had the one outfit and no accessories.
I understand the ones they have now are smaller and more like action figures and they have lots of extra stuff to play with.
Very cool barracks. I like the posters.

Date: 2012-06-20 04:45 am (UTC)I even have a couple old school guys that I picked up at a garage sale or some second hand store years ago. They did have some cool accessories that my brother had--a heliocopter was one--but they were pretty much trashed by little boys who played war quite roughly.
