Monday, October 10

My biggest accomplishment for today was to catch up with my DW entries again.  I ate some of the leftover KFC and the rest of the chocolate blizzard from the other day.  I spoke to Lily on the phone, and she is feeling somewhat better.  They may send her home from the hospital in Fridley tomorrow.

I didn’t do much else of note today.

Tuesday, October 11

I was a bit more productive today.  I cleaned the litterboxes in the breezeway, did a sink full of dishes, and warmed more KFC in the microwave for my lunch, along with a lettuce salad.  I worked on the office again today and put a bunch of my research in page protectors and 3-ring binders.

Hope texted me that she would come to clean tomorrow at 10 am.  Lily was released from the hospital today.  Apparently Rhonda, her daughter, drove Lily’s car up and brought her home.  I think she would have benefited from a couple more days in the hospital as she is still coughing uncontrollably till she almost passes out.

Today was a lovely sunny fall day.  I discovered that the original Highlander movie was on today—Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert starring.  I do love that movie.  I wish it had been the extended director’s cut version.

Nothing else too exciting to report.

Wednesday, October 12

I stripped my bed and washed the bedding, anticipating that Hope would be here to make the bed for me.  I cleaned the laundry room litterbox, swept up the scattered litter, bagged it up with the living room garbage and dragged it to the breezeway. I bagged up the kitchen garbage along with the old scoopings and fresh cleaning from the breezeway litterboxes and tied up that bag too.  I put away the clean dishes and washed the dirty ones, bagged up all the recycling and put it by the front door.  I sorted my dirty laundry and got it started.

At some point, Hope let me know she had gotten called in to work and would not be able to come.  She said she’d come on Saturday.  I had so much garbage and recycling that I wanted it out of the house.  So, I called Erik and asked if he would come over and take out the garbage and recycling.  I have been promising Mom I would take her to Culver’s for fish dinner, so I asked Erik to bring her too—I would take her to Culver’s and bring her home afterwards.

So, Erik brought mom over, carried out as much of my garbage and recycling as would fit, and played with the cats for quite a while as we all visited.  He got a kick out of the cats being obsessed with the squirrels eating nuts on the deck.  He loved the oak bookshelves in the office, and Mom also remarked about how nice they look in there.

When Erik left, I took Mom to Owatonna where we each got a 3-piece fish dinner and a 6-piece shrimp entrée which we shared.  I got coleslaw and onion rings for my sides, and Mom got mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw.  Both of us ate all our shrimp and one of our fish pieces and saved the other fish for tomorrow.  We ate it “picnic” style in Moorehouse Park by the river.  Mom paid for our Culver’s food, and I bought us malts for the ride home.  I have been craving banana malts again.

I dropped her off at her house and came home to take it easy for the rest of the night.

Thursday, October 13

I baked a potato in the microwave and ate it with the leftover Culver’s fish for lunch.  I wrote out my grocery order and called it in.  My bathroom was pretty disgusting, so I cleaned it within an inch of its life.  After that, I swept and scrubbed the laundry room, folded my bedding and put it in a basket for Hope to make the bed on Saturday.  Until then, I will be sleeping on one of my oversized towels with an afghan.  Making a bed is very hard for me.  Stupid knees and shoulders make it nearly impossible.  I CAN do it, but it takes me almost an hour and is extremely painful.

I spent a lot of time on the phone with my mother, Lily, and Tammy.  All my energy was drained out of me, so I didn’t do much else.  I have been spending a lot of time watching explorations of abandoned homes and “doll thrifting” on YouTube.  Once I get my house in order, I want to start visiting second hand stores again.  A person can find a lot of really cool things for very cheap in second hand stores.  There is a YouTuber called Benedolls who consistently finds amazing things in second hand stores—a lot of American Girl furniture which costs hundreds of dollars if you buy it new for $5 second hand.  Most of it is almost perfect—and I do not require perfection.

I am sometimes horrified by the adorable stuff she leaves behind.  It would have gone home with me!

Friday, October 14

I had another moderately productive day.  I called Jack to check in with him and caught him in his car bringing Cora home from college for the weekend.  She has caught some kind of stomach bug and felt terrible, so he brought her home for some tender loving care and cuddles with her kitties.  He’s a good dad.

I talked to Lily on the phone and she sounded much better today—still not GOOD, but better.

I was in the cooking spirit today.  I cleaned and cooked the 2 pounds of asparagus I bought a while back, boiled eggs and potatoes to make potato salad, chopped up pickles, onions, and celery for the potato salad, and set all the potato salad fixings into the fridge to combine into potato salad tomorrow morning before Hope comes.  I turned my two cucumbers into cucumber salad.  I baked my buttercup squash and made a pot of spaghetti after Ross delivered my groceries.  While the spaghetti was cooking, I put away the rest of my groceries.  When I was done cooking, I washed all the dishes I dirtied with all my cooking.

Waylon delivered a package to me.  I was too tired to mess with it, so I just set it by my recliner for later.  Ross found another package by the breezeway door and brought it in to me as well.  Now both are by the recliner.

I will probably open them tomorrow before Hope comes.

Saturday, October 15

I got up early, cleaned the breezeway litterboxes, finished making the potato salad, tied up the kitchen garbage, and washed the few dishes so everything would be fresh for Hope when she got here.

But Hope never came.  She never called or texted or responded to my texts either.  I was scared something bad might have happened as she never fails to contact me if she cannot come.

I called Jack to see if he could come and take out the heavy kitchen garbage and drag the bin to the curb.  He and Caleb both came over and visited briefly before taking it out for me.  I asked if they would drop some potato salad and spaghetti off at Lily’s house as they were on their way to Mom’s to help her carry a bookcase to the basement.  I wanted to be sure Lily was well supplied with food since she is still very sick.  I also sent her a few bags of peppermint tea which I think is very helpful for a cough—especially if you take it with honey.

They did, and they even stayed and visited with her a bit which meant a lot to her.

Joni stopped by later in the day to drop off my pedal thing along with a container of chicken noodle soup Jeff had made and a container of refrigerator pickles.  Mom later called and told me that I would not like the soup as it was heavily peppered.  I don’t like pepper.

My spaghetti and potato salad both turned out very good.  Lily called to tell me that the potato salad was just delicious—the best she had ever eaten!  (I find that hard to believe, but it was really good.)

Sunday, October 16

DeAnn and I had a good Zoom meeting this morning.  I still have heard nothing from Hope.

After the Zoom with DeAnn,  I watched and deleted a few things from the DVR.  I ate spaghetti for a late lunch and had a bowl of potato salad for supper.  I watched The Walking Dead and got a bit of a giggle off watching Eugene put up his fists and inform Daryl that he was willing to fight him to get to his “lady love.”  The look on Daryl’s face was priceless.  Sort of like a T-Rex looking at a six week old kitten arching its back at him.  Haha.  Norman Reedus is a good actor.

Not much else going on.

I have decided I will not be watching Interview with the Vampire.  It’s just boring.  I’d rather watch my YouTube videos of abandoned houses, schools, and churches.

Monday, October 17

I got up early enough this morning to take a shower, feed the cats, and check my bank balance.  Again, it was much lower than I thought it should be—I only had a little over $130 in the checking account.  I transferred $500 from my savings to my checking and prayed it would be enough to get me through until October 26th when my social security will drop into my account.  I need to go through my transactions and see where this money is going.  I KNOW I am not spending extravagantly.  It’s scaring me.  I have a lot of bills set up to auto pay, so I suspect something has been dramatically increased in one of those bills.

Last night, Lily asked me if I could drive her to her appointment at the clinic today because she just didn’t feel up to it.  I told her I would be glad to as she has driven me to my appointments many, many times.  I dropped her off at the door then parked where I could see the door.  I recorded the last two dreams I had in my dream journal, caught up with texts to Mary and DeAnn, and called the clinic to reschedule the two appointments I had missed due to not having a ride, and rescheduled the appointment I won’t have a ride to this Wednesday. I listened to some YouTube videos on my phone until Lily called and told me she was headed to the door.  She had sent me a text earlier telling me that they had sent her to the lab for blood work.  Her appointment was at 9:30 am, and it was after 11 before she got out of the clinic.

I took her to Walmart where she exchanged something she didn’t like and picked up one of my prescriptions.  She couldn’t pick up the other two as the clinic had not okayed the refills yet.  From there, we went to McDonalds where I got her a latte and an apple pie and myself a frappe, 2 fish burgers, and an apple pie.  When I dropped her off, she gave me the chicken and biscuit meal the ladies from the Methodist church had given her for Rhonda on Friday.  Rhonda’s husband has declared himself gluten and lactose intolerant, and therefore she is not allowed to eat those things either.

*insert eye roll here*

I asked her if she was sure she didn’t want to keep it for herself, but she said she had so much food right now that she was afraid she could not eat it all.  So, I took it home and will have it for supper tonight or lunch tomorrow.

I got my mail on the way home and ate both fish burgers for my lunch.  I had the apple pie later in the afternoon.  The rest of my day was pretty quiet.

I had been meaning to catch up on my DW entries every single day since the last time I caught up on them, but it just didn’t happen.  I don’t know why.  Just no ambition to do it.

Tuesday, October 18

I had a nice chat with Tammy this morning then spent a quiet day mostly messing around on my computer.  Those abandoned house and doll thrifting videos keep me entertained.  I got a text from Hope today telling me that her phone wasn’t working very well lately—she wasn’t getting messages or calls and wasn’t able to call out or send texts.  Anyhow, she said she had been called in to work almost every night and that her manager has covid.  She said she would come tomorrow, so I texted back that would be great.

I ate spaghetti and potato salad for lunch and a pear and a half (one half was bruised and rotting) for supper.  I washed the dishes so the sink would be empty tomorrow when Hope comes.

I noticed that Joe versus the Volcano was on tonight.  The last time I saw that movie, I was babysitting my nephew Kyle when they still lived in that rathole trailer house before he was even a year old.  I remembered that Tom Hanks was in that movie, but I didn’t remember that Meg Ryan was also in it.  I had to look them up.  Apparently they have been in four movies together:  Joe versus the Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, and Ithaca.  I have not seen Ithaca.  I love the scene in Joe versus the Volcano where they are floating in the ocean on his giant trunk with a huge full moon hanging above them.  Seeing something like that moon is the only reason I would ever want to go on a cruise.

As I watched the movie, Peaches sprawled across my chest, dozing and purring throughout most of the movie.

Wednesday, October 19

I sorted, washed, dried, and folded my entire laundry today and moved the basket into the bedroom.  Hope texted me again today that she was unable to come.  She got called in to work till closing again last night and for tonight as well.  So, I guess I will be sleeping rough for a few more days.

Sawyer and I had a bunch of fun playing with his giraffe print mouse.  He loves to play, but he gets so rough.  He has clawed me up something fierce.  I do not believe in declawing cats, but he might have to get declawed.  I have several slashes on my legs, chest, and even my boobs that are now infected because he plays too rough.  Green pus was oozing out of the slash across the top of my knee.

I opened my two packages today.  One was part of my birthday present from Mary—an adorable little Stieff cat in a basket.  The other was some wooden doll furniture I had ordered from Etsy a while back and forgot about.  There are two unpainted wooden beds, a wooden book shelf, and a wooden table that will fit my LeeAnn dolls.  They are about 10” tall but are stockier than the Marley Wentworth Tonner dolls.  I am considering using this furniture to make a room for the two beautiful Leneda dolls I bought several months ago during Denis’s big sale.  They are beautiful black girls who are supposed to be about 10 years old.  I’m thinking of calling them Aisha and Selena.  Both of those are names of moon goddesses.  I think they are very pretty names.

I'm sure not only was the potato salad delicious but Lily was probably also very hungry and so that helped her to believe it was the best potato salad in the universe. I had an experience once that way about a cheeseburger I had at Andersen's Pea Soupery a bit north of us. My Mom said it wasn't special but that I was really hungry, which was true. I did stop there many years later the the food wasn't anything special. It was very good, but not the best in the universe.

I did laundry yesterday when I got home after I fed the dogs and before I went in for the rest of the evening and did nothing. Well, I did list the red rat chair on Craigslist, plus arranged for "Ricky" to pick up the encyclopedias this afternoon. I did stay up really late shopping. I bought some gray minky fabric for the new sofa and then shopped at World Market for Christmas. Today I went out to JoAnns and World Market to pick them up. Then stopped at Windmill Farms. Still no Pippins. And not any Sushi I wanted. I went to the Sushi place by CVS but it was closed. Take out only. But no one was there to even order ToGo so have no idea how they stay in business. I went next door to Filippis to get pizza but the guy tried to seat me in front of a TV so I asked for a table without a TV and he went to a different area RIGHT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER TV. Shit for brains? I told him never mind. I would order a pizza and pick it up on the way home and left. But instead I just came home to eat. Then fed the dogs. Still didn't put the laundry in the dryer but I did take the bag of cans out. I'll take them to recycling on Monday. Maybe they'll have sushi then.

Sawyer and William need their claws cut short and then little rubbers super glued on the tips. A vet does it. It doesn't last but maybe while it's going on you can work at teaching them to be more gentle. Treats and a squire bottle for carrot and stick.

There was supposed to be a delivery from amazon on Friday. The Museum gel I had sent to you to help stick down some of the breakables the cats are knocking over. Just don't use it for fabric things.
