I was very tired when I got home yesterday--and for the first night in a while I slept really well.

DeAnn called me this morning and suggested we go out to lunch at about 1 pm, and said she would treat me since I have so little money at this time.  When I get my unemployment money, I will repay the favor.

Mom sounded better this morning--her horrible cold is beginning to break up and she isn't coughing as much. She told me that when she woke up this morning, she picked up her glasses  and the bow fell off of one side.  I told her that I would be happy to take it to Walmart and have it repaired for her if she wanted.

So, I took her glasses with me when I went to meet DeAnn at Applebys.  I have been so hungry for their orange chicken with rice and veggies.  When I ordered it this time I asked for extra vegetables and sauce as last time I had it, it was quite dry and there were hardly any vegetables.  Well, when they brought it to me, it was HEAPED with vegetables and they gave me a whole tub of extra sauce.

DeAnn and I had a nice chat about what is going on in our lives.  Neither of us could eat everything on our plates, so we got to-go boxes for the left overs.  I am looking forward to eating my leftovers, perhaps even tomorrow for lunch.

Poor little Swayze has to get his tonsils out, but they cannot do it for quite a while.  Poor DeAnn has to listen to the little guy snore and snort all night, and thinks he is cranky because he cannot rest well because he cannot breath properly.

Thank goodness that it is supposed to be easier on little guys like him.  My neice Sadie had her tonsils out and she was in agony...Of course, Sadie also has a very very low pain tolerance.

I also got some text messages from Jack saying that they had adopted another cat.  The exact wording was, "We adopted another cat.  Next year Cora is living with you."  Ha.  Apparently the Northfield Animal Rescue was at the Rennaisance Festival, with lots of little homeless animals.  Cora spotted a five month old orange kitty and petted it and talked to it for a long time.  When they started walking away, Cora started crying.  She is an unusual child in that when she cries she doesn't make any noise.  The tears just flow down her little cheeks.  When they asked her what was wrong she said she didn't want to leave him.  She wept so bitterly that they finally went back and adopted him.  There were two conditions:  (1)  it is now Cora's job to clean the litterbox  (I cannot see that happening.  LOL)  and (2)  There will be no more talk about getting a dog!

My brother is not a dog guy--he never has been.  He's always been a cat man.  He did not really want FOUR cats, but he will also move heaven and earth for his kids to have the things they really want.  And both of his kids are big animal lovers.

Anyhow--I went to Walmart and got mom's glasses fixed when DeAnn and I parted.  As long as I was there, I had the lady tighten mine too.  She was a bit odd...very nice to me.  I complimented her on the color of her fingernail polish--and then she showed me that her pinky was the only one done.  It had a bit of a curve to it and I suddenly remembered that people who snort cocaine grow out the pinky finger and use it for snorting.  Now whether she is a cocaine snorter or not, I do not know, but it seemed very odd to me that you would have just ONE fingernail painted and three times longer than all your other fingernails...

Ah well, none of my business...but I couldn't help but notice.

Just for something to do, I cruised around Walmart just looking at stuff.  I only had three dollars, so my ability to buy anything was severely limited.  Sadly, as happens so many times when I have no money, I found two things that I would dearly loved to have purchased.  One was a metal planter that was shaped very much like an antique bathtub and it would have fit my Tonner dolls perfectly.  I could glue "feet" on it and it would look just like a Victorian-type bath tub.  Sigh.  The other thing was a set of three nested woden trays.  The minute I saw them, I could envision turning the largest one into a desk and the smaller two into book shelves for the doll house (which exists only in my head at this time).  When I get some money, I am definitely going back for those things.  Esecially the tub.  There was a whole bunch of them, so I am pretty sure they will be available for a while.

Since I had been in the store quite a while, I bought a $1 package of "My Little Pony" stickers as one of the dolls whose room I am envisioning is a horse girl--and I have some little tiny horses that I bought at Hobby Lobby that look like fuzzy miniature versions of My Little Pony.  I will use those stickers in her scrapbook--I got some very small bound books at JoAnn Fabrics a while back--and I have been using them to make "scrapbooks" for some of the dolls in their own scale.  This girl is my one and only Chrysalis doll.  I have named her Chrystiana Arrietty Sheridan.  She will be Chryssie for short.  Her favorite color is red (because she came with red ribbons tying the ends of her braids) and she loves horses.  I have three large horses that are perfect scale for her.  The one I have chosen for her is sort of a golden brown with a "real" black mane and tail.  I am calling him Butterscotch.  Her favorite books will be the Borrowers Series, and if I can find a way to create them in miniature, I will do so.  I loved those books when I was young--and Chyrssie's middle name is the name of the little girl borrower in the stories.  I always liked that name.

I also bought a bottle of diet coke.

When I left Walmart I went through the drive through of McDonalds and got a twist cone which was really good.  And only a buck and a quarter.  I dug that change out of my ash tray.  LOL.  I am down to the fucking DREGS, money wise.

When I got home, mom and I talked for a while.  I told her about Cora's new kitty.  She laughed.

I decided it was a good time to call Doug Klevos, a realtor from West Concord, about the house thing.  I got is son Greg who has taken over the business pretty much since Doug is semi-retired.  We talked about the situation and he said he didn't know what the Financial advisor was talking about.  He said I wasn't doing anything wrong and that there was not that much difference between homestead and non-homestead taxes any more.  He seemed to think that we could work out something just fine and beneficial to all concerned.  I felt very relieved after talking to him, and I texted all of that to Amy.

While I was gone, Jerry had brought over a bunch of green beans so she froze them.  She had saved back enough for us to have some for supper.  They were delicious.  We also sliced up tomatoes from Mom's garden and had tomatoes on toast for supper as well.  And a big glass of milk.

After we cleared the table, we started watching Lawrence Welk, which is on every Saturday at 6 pm on PBS.  Watching those old reruns brings back so many memories of my childhood...we never EVER missed Lawrence Welk!  Tonight they had a cowboy theme going and it was Lawrence's 65th birthday.  It was fun to watch it.  I felt like I was about 8 years old again.

Mom and I had gone downstairs about half way through the show to sit in our matching recliners.  When the Welk show was over, we watched three or four episodes of Billy the Exterminator.  I get a kick out of Billy.  He looks like a complete freak, but he seems to be a really sweet guy.  Some people had a kitten trapped in their wall, and he had to tear part of the outside of the house off to get at it.  Before he even started the job, he told them he would eat the cost of the repair to the exterior of the house because he couldn't stand the idea of that little kitten starving  to death in there.  And he got kind of teary when the tiny little black kitten was saved and handed over to its human mommy.

Most of the critters he has to get out of people's houses or off their property are not destroyed.  He takes them out into the middle of nowhere--in woodlands or swamps, and sets them free.  Even a big ugly old copperhead and a goofy little crawdad.  LOL.  Tonight he trapped a wild cat which was soooo gorgeous!  They took it out and let it go in the woods too.  That cat was pissed!  I think it was about ready to leap at them, but Billy had a tazer that he sparked (he did not shock the cat) and it leaped up a tree and vaulted away.  Those wildcats have such beautiful markings and eyes...

Kari and Jack stopped by to give us each a "Kings Nuts" from the Rennaisance Festival.  I love the King's Nuts.  It's a candy made of a nougat center dipped in caramel and then liberally rolled in pecans.  Man, it is so delicious.  And it should be as two of them cost $7.50.  So we also got to see the new kitten.  He was bigger than I expected, and like all orange kittens he was so darling.  He was cuddled up in Caleb's lap sleeping.  He seemed totally at peace and happy to be with them.

My own little orange baby boy is snuggled up as tight as he can get to my belly and is purring.  He is the very best little kitty in the world.  I loves him I does!

That's really about it for me today.

I feel okay--not as devastatingly miserable as I was...I still feel a sort of helpless hopeless feeling, but it isn't devouring me like it was.  Getting out of the house, I think, was very beneficial for me.  I need to do more of that.  Even if it is just to go to the library or something.
