This is the current weather alert from my area.  WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A MASSIVE BLIZZARD ON THE WEEKEND??????

Seriously!

If this forecast was for Sunday night or Monday night or even TUESDAY night, it would be cause for MUCH rejoicing....but on a FRIDAY NIGHT????

What a waste of snow and wind!!

I suppose I can cling to a very faint hope of it continuing long enough to be worth a snow day on Monday--but it is so much more likely that the roads will just be super shitty and I'll have to drive on them anyhow.

Sigh

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM
CST SUNDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LA CROSSE HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM
CST SUNDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

A MIXTURE OF SNOW AND SLEET WILL DEVELOP SOUTHWEST OF A LAKE CITY
MINNESOTA...LA CROSSE AND RICHLAND CENTER LINE TONIGHT AND
CONTINUE INTO SATURDAY. SOME FREEZING RAIN MAY ALSO OCCUR...BUT IT
IS NOT EXPECTED TO LAST VERY LONG. ANY ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT
OCCUR WILL PRIMARILY BE FROM SLEET. HOWEVER...A GLAZING OF LESS
THAN A QUARTER INCH IS POSSIBLE FROM THE FREEZING RAIN. MAINLY
SNOW IS EXPECTED NORTHEAST OF THE LAKE CITY...LA CROSSE AND
RICHLAND CENTER LINE. ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL OCCUR OVER
THE ENTIRE AREA SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY.

STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL THROUGH SUNDAY OF AROUND A FOOT IS
LIKELY...WITH SOME AREAS SEEING IN EXCESS OF A FOOT. STRONG WINDS
ARE ALSO EXPECTED DURING THE WEEKEND...WHICH ALONG WITH SNOW AND
ICE ACCUMULATIONS...WILL RESULT IN HAZARDOUS TRAVELING
CONDITIONS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...
SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE.  THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

My sincere sympathy on the waste of good snow and wind and the loss of an otherwise potentially fun and/or productive weekend.

Look for the white...er....silver lining.

Is there another storm on the heels of this one?

Since they say through Sunday, what are the chances there is another dump of snow and ice in Sunday on top of the first that makes it impassable on Monday? After all, they probably won't have cleared the first bit when the second bit arrives.

And....you can spend the entire weekend warm and cozy in your house doing what *you* want to do, uninterupted. You do not need to stop what you're doing and go with the stalker to the movies or anything. You can even turn off the phones so the stalker cannot contact you at all. Blame it on the weather.

You can clean (but I wouldn't). You can sew dolly clothes. You can read. You can watch TV. You can play on the computer. You can do something you've been putting off but wanted to do.

This is an opportunity for a mini-retreat, become a semi-hermit.

Looks like an opportunity to me. (And your Mom is on a cruise so you don't have to go over their either.)

well, we have a ton of ice building up on the trees and electrical wires.

I am enjoying the hermitage-like atmosphere.

I sorted out some stuff and cleaned out some cubbies in my bedroom, then tossed all my laundry and garbage downstairs. The stalker has called three times. *sigh*

I'm now not answering any more if she calls.

I have some dolly clothes cut out that I intend to sew--and I also have to pay bills, which I am NOT looking forward to at all. *sigh*

But, I AM going to bake cookies or bars today, and I am going to relax and watch some HGTV too.

:D
