Well, I am safe and sound, but there has been some pretty impressive flooding going on all around me.

This is my favorite thinking place--the dam in Mantorville.  The water is WAY WAY higher than it normally is.

In the background up top is the Channel 5 News van.  I waved at them.  Hee hee.  Look for me on the news.

Normally there is a little beach like area with lots of stones on it on the far side where the water is going under the bridge.

This is the view from the other side of the bank.  The water was just boiling!

This is looking upriver.  That sandbar is usually three times that size.

There is another view from the far side.  Usually you can practically see the base of those pillars.    On the far side, under the bridge, there is a sidewalk with a railing between it and the river.  The water is so high you can't even see it!

This is a closer view of the turbulent water.  Pretty impressive, huh?

Channel 5 NEWS.  Hee hee.

I love this groovy truck.

The news guys.

This is some guys field.  Usually there is a creek so tiny that I could step across it.  Now look at it!

This is the other side of the road.  Another field.

This is field closer up.

This is the road that runs right past Jim and DeAnn's house.  It wasn't under water any more when I took this picture--but the river is still really high.

This is the road that runs north south that is just up the road from Jim and DeAnn's house.

This is the river north of Jim and DeAnn's house.  It's waaaay over its banks.

This is the other side of the river.  It's a mess.

Excuse me.

Can I have some of your water?

They're going to ask us to cut back by 20% next year. This after we've been cutting back year after year and our rates have still gone up.

So, if you don't mind....can you send me some of that water? I'm in Southern California. No need to wrap it. I'll drink it here.

I'll put Melvin right on it. He's been looking for an excuse to get wet and dirty.

Well....ANOTHER excuse, I guess. He always seems to find a reason.

He and the badger were out late last night--came in wet, dirty, and smelling of skunk.

I didn't ask.

I didn't want to know.

AHA!

Was it last Saturday?

While the electrician and his assistant were working there was a strong whiff of skunk several times. We never could pinpoint the location. I checked to make sure the access to the crawlspace under the house was secure. I even looked in through the screens. Nothing. I checked the perimeter of the yard but all secure. We never did figure out where it was coming from.

He suspects it was on the next block down as he saw the firetrucks parked down there but no lights or sirens and no sign of fire. They seemed to be quite casual. He thinks they were removing a skunk.

Of course, they may also have caught the Badger inflagrante delicto with a wood pussy. There were no reports of Melvin running bare, beam and buck nekkid in the middle of the day, but that doesn't mean he wasn't.

Was he sunburned in any interesting places?

K isn't talking. He is enamored of the barbeque. He's switched from briquets to actually charcoal made from wood. You should see him in his leather apron with his little tushie hung out to dry. I should buy stock in Noxzema.

Geez.

I didn't know the badger had begun assaulting skunks as well as squirrels.

I suppose there will be little mutant skadgers and bunks running around soon.

Sigh sigh sigh.

I HAVE to have that damn badger "fixed."

Melvin is frequently sunburned in ridiculous places, but some of that is due to his insistance on welding new cages for the TLJ clones in the basement wearing nothing but his olive tongue necklace. You know how he is...
