So, last week was my spring break.  I had been anticipating it with great ambition for at least a month.  Two weeks before the vacation, I took my mom in for her catarc surgery.  Instead of the comfortable waiting room chairs, they brought me in to sit on the very uncomfortable metal frame chair in her temporary hospital room while they did the surgery.

From that point on, my lower back and hip were sore and sort of spasm-y.  The last day of the quarter was a massive work day for all the little farts who had fallen behind on their work.  The kids were allowed to leave as soon as they finished their work.  Sadly, i had several kids who had cited papers due.  Cited papers cannot be whipped out in 20 minutes or so.  They also cannot be evaluated in 10 minutes each.  Grades had to be turned in before we left.  I sat hunched in my chair, my entire body a knot, until nearly 5 pm, correcting papers.  i had kids here until about 4:30.

Everyone else was gone except for Tracy, who couldn't leave until all the grades were in so the report cards could be mailed out, and Jay.

By the time I left, I was having nasty spasms in my lower back, hip, and right leg.  They became so intense that I would nearly fall down when one struck.  though I had planned to do massive amounts of house work over my break, I ended up sitting on ice packs for almost the entire vacation.  i was deeply despondent about this, as I was hoping this would be the chance to get a good head start on stuff before summer rolled around.  didn't happen.

My bathroom is filthy and my kitchen floor is disgusting.

I was afraid to attempt the nearly vertical basement stairs with my body in such a state, so I packed everything up and took it to my mom's.  Her basement is finished, so once i take the laundry down the very short stairway (she has a half-entry), I can sit in the recliner, watch the big screen tv and leave the recliner only to pee, change out a load of laundry, or grab a fresh ice pack.

When I went back home after staying two nights with my mom, I picked up a lot of stuff, paid bills, balanced my check book, and did a heck of a lot of dishes.  I got afew groceries and cooked up a storm.  I made rice krispie bars which I shared with Jim and DeAnn and my therapist.  I also made a candy/cookie which was a conglomeration of stuff mixed up with almond bark.  I threw in rice krispies, fruit loops, peanuts, pretzels, and multi-colored miniature marshmallows.  They were very sweet, but oddly addictive.  I also made a big batch of chocolate chip cookies.  After all the sweet stuff, i made a very tasty meat loaf, a spaghetti-like hot dish (used egg noodles instead of spaghetti noodles) and some chicken vegetable barley soup.  All were good.

I shared at least half of everything with Jim and DeAnn.  that way we both got a good variety of things rather than going crazy with the boredom of eating the same thing every single day of the week.

I had blood tests--and of course, they were not good.  They were not hideous, but all of them were significantly worse than the last set I had, due to the lack of activity forced upon me by my broken body and the excessive consumption of sweets and junk food which i tend to stupidly turn to when I am stressed and depressed.

My doctor has increased the strength of my diabetic pill (again) and may add another if things don't change for the better by my next set of blood tests.

I returned to my mom's for one night only on saturday (the weekend ending my vacation) and did quite a bit of sewing on my doll clothes as well as doing more laundry--including quite a bit of bedding that my kitties had decided to PEE on for no good reason.  I don't know why assholish LJ refuses to allow me to post my pictures with links from flickr any more--or I would show the doll clothes to you.  Sigh.  Just another thorn on the roseless bush of reality.  I made a bunch of tonner and kish outfits and they are so cute.
