Be afraid. Be very very afraid.
So I exaggereated a little about the whole back of the house being covered--but it is trying VERY hard to encompass the whole back of it.
You can sort of see the grapevine shimmying towards the neighbor's back yard by way of the electrical wiring. It must have lost its grip, as a long strand is just hanging down.
Look at that window to the right. That's the window to "Frank's Room." It is trying to get in....who knows what nefarious and no doubt EVAL plan is in its mind....
It may be planning to enshroud the entire house so I cannot escape!...The back door has already been compromised.
Yes, this is a little fuzzy, but you can see the tendril slithering by way of the electrical wires quite clearly here.
Anybody need a bunch of daylillies? They are the grapevine's ground soldiers, I think. They are trying to overtake the entire yard.

That's how they take over . . . they disable the "predator" (home owner) with an acid bath and devour the carcass, to leave no evidence. I hear it's a painful way to go and it takes days for the vines to surround you and slowly dissolve your flesh. They start from the feet and work up the body saving the brain for last. It's just grisly; better get a professional. LOL.
I love your house, dear! I've never seen the back side.
Have fun,
Pappy

Date: 2008-08-27 11:55 am (UTC)The front looks bad. The back looks pretty good, actually.
These are some kind of wild grapevines that don't really produce grapes for humans. They look more like peas than grapes, but the birds love them.
Grapevine?
Date: 2008-08-27 11:28 pm (UTC)I'm planning on planting TWO grapevines. A Thompson seedless and a Black Monaka. One in the front and one in the back. I'm planting them over trellis I was going to use for wisteria but decided you can eat grapes and you can't eat wisteria. It's an old/new thing called "Edible Estates", going back to the traditional yards of pre-WWII when real people planted stuff you could eat and only the rich show-offs had grass lawns. I'm all for it as I hate to mow.
As long as it isn't Kudzu you're fine. But if you see it start to attach to the house or grow into the siding, then it's time to get it down.
And I'd love some Daylilies, thank you. Just put them in the box with the cat. (see next post)
