The scariest movie I ever saw was the original Halloween. Saw it with a group. The reason it scares me is...there's nothing supernatural about it....it's based on human nature. And there are sociopaths out there just like the main character. I had one of them as a student. No kidding.
I was living in an apartment downstairs from a few of the group that I was with when I saw it. When I got home I turned all of the lights on but still couldn't go to sleep. After a few hours I went upstairs and asked one of the guys if he'd sleep on my couch instead of their couch. No laughing or ridicule, he just grabbed his blanket and pillow and came downstairs and went to sleep on my couch. Then I could sleep.
But that movie creeped me out for weeks.
I've never been able to watch it again and I never will.
I can watch Alien, Predator, etc. no problem.
I've never seen the shower scene from Psycho either. I always switch channels and then come back when it's over.
The most scared I've ever been.
