Monday was a complete clusterfuck.
First, we discovered that my uncle Jerry had taken my box springs (which are split into two because a big box spring would not fit up my stairway) instead of the twin bed mattress and box spring that I was giving to Hope and Randy (Cousin Lee's daughter and her boyfriend) for their little boy.
Then, Jim Butler came and got that horrid rock-hard thing I have been sleeping on, which would have been wonderful if my own bed could have been set up. However, that led to me not having a bed in my bedroom. Meaning I could not sleep with my cats. I don't like not sleeping with my cats.
So, the first night I slept downstairs on the couch or in the recliner (partial night in each); tonight, I am upstairs in the bed I used to sleep in when visiting mom.
According to my mom, my uncle will be bringing my own box springs back this afternoon some time. I am not counting on it, but it would be nice.
The other part of the clusterfuck was that my nephew Kyle, who has not lifted a finger to help me move in all this turmoil, called his mother to tell her he did not want the hutch, table, and chairs and the refrigerator he had said he wanted all this time. A special trip was made to Owatonna to take this stuff to his apartment--it took more than an hour to hall this load specifically for him and unload it.
He was nowhere to be found at this time, so they put the stuff in his garage.
Then he texted his mom and said he didn't want it. She called him and apparently the landlord went berserk when he saw all this stuff in the garage, which wouldn't have been put there IF he had had the courtesy to say he did not want it earlier. Then he tells my sister that Juan's parents will take the fridge. (Juan is his roommate.) I said, "Like HELL they will." I don't know them from Adam, and I am certainly not GIVING them my fridge! If they want t pay me $300, that would be fine.
My brother Jack will take the refrigerator since his little pop fridge is on the blink. They can keep it in there basement for overflow food or just pop.
Now, we have to find a way to get all that stuff back from Owatonna--and none of us owns a truck. Personally, I think Kyle should be responsible to get it back here, since he is the one who wasted our time and gas to haul it to him. Knowing him though, it would either never get done or it would be done in such a shoddy way that everything would be wrecked in tranist.
The whole family is furious at him for his irresponsibility, and Kim feels terrible--which is unnecessary. She is not responsible for the fact that her son has inherited his father's lazy-ass, inconsiderate ways. This is why she should have left him when the boys were young.
I am not so much furious as I am disgusted with him. I have enough shit to deal with (as does his mom). We did not need HIS shit on top of everything else.
On a bright note, Stewart and Peaches are recovering nicely from their surgeries. Stewie only had his claws removed and Peaches was both declawed and spayed, poor baby. She has been very dumpy and withdrawn until yesterday. Then she actually got up on the bed with me until Jim came and took it away. I really want to be down in the basement with THEM. She seems to be suffering more from the declaw than Stewie as well. Stewie doesn't act like anything has ever happened to him.
The vet refused to operate on Tyger Lilly because she is too fat. He says that she must lose 3.5 pounds before he will operate. :(
He did trim her claws way back so she cannot claw stuff, but this means I will have to make her go through all this again...all the fear and trauma and separation. SHE is t he one I most wanted spayed because she has that nasty discharge when she is in heat...sort of like kitty period juice. Eww.
I hated having them declawed, but mom's conditions for letting them move in were that they had to be spayed and declawed. She was very very pissed about the vet refusing to do the surgeries, but she has been nice to the cats. Stewie has already completely accepted her and is allowing her to touch the sacred white tummy. Tyger Lilly is allowing some contact, but will also hiss on occasion. Peaches--not so much. She will stay in the room, eyeing her warily, until mom moves to make contact. Then she will slink away to hide in some crevice.
I still have just a little bit of stuff at the house. I also want to clean the bathroom and the kitchen for the new people--but I have been so freakin' exhausted. I slept most of today away. If we are not having horrific storms today, I am heading to finish this stuff up in the morning.
I just hope I can get it all done in one trip.
If I can't, I am wondering if I can maybe get DeAnn to follow me home with the rest of the crap in her car. I will call her in the morning and see. First though, I will TRY to get everything in my own car.
I would have gone today, but I promised Caleb and Cora that I would take them to the movie Zookeeper. We were on a tight time budget as Caleb had to be home by 3:30 to get to his practice by 4. This meant I could not take them out for ice cream as I had hoped. But, it was okay. We didn't get out of the theater until 3:05. The traffic was insane as it was the end of day for some company. I took them on one of the many back routes I know through the city and got us to the other side without dealing with all the traffic delay. We got him home by 3:35, which was close enough.
Cora stayed with us while Kari took Caleb to his practice.
Joni and Jeff came over later to get some of my plastic organizers. They have gone pretty well. DeAnn has a few, Kari took a few (and so did the kids), mom took a couple, and whatever is left, Tina would like to have. Tina is a friend of Kari's.
I have four of the 3-drawer ones in the basement with my fabric. I also have three of the taller ones and a couple of the "file cabinet" type ones. I have quite a few of the smaller 3-drawer things too. I will probably be emptying out a few more of these things as time passes. I am really purging to the bone here. I cannot really think of anything else right now--I hope I can go back to sleep now that I have purged all this stuff from my mind.
More will follow....adios.

Date: 2011-07-27 01:07 pm (UTC)I hope you get everything arranged soon. *hugs*
What a day indeed.
Date: 2011-07-27 05:44 pm (UTC)Do you have anyone that would adopt it in the mean time?
Kim isn't directly responsible for Kyle's current inconsideration but you are correct in she is responsible for him (and probably the rest of the siblings) growing up to be assholes like their Father because she did not leave him when they were younger. They're taking after the dominant parent and that would be the deadbeat loser. They'll all end up like him. Even if she left him now, the damage has been done.
Poor kitties. It might have been easier and cheaper to just neuter Stewie. I know dogs are a lot easier and cheaper than cats because it's not major or invasive surgery. As of the declawing, you can buy these little claw caps that glue on with super glue and that will hold her until she loses that weight. Her claws may grow out a bit before she's lost the 3.5 lbs. I don't know how you've prevented her from getting pregnant to this point. Does she just not tolerate Stewie in that way? But I agree, if any cat needed spaying, she does if she oozes.
Zookeeper looked like fun; a movie I thought might be worth seeing but I'm broke right now. I was going to see Winnie the Pooh with my Mom but yesterday they were going out to dinner and we went out to lunch too and that's too much for her in one day. My Dad wants to see Cowboys and Aliens (I think just because it's cowboys and Harrison Ford) so I'll probably take him to that. By that time Zookeeper either won't be playing any more or my summer will be over or I'll have no money again. I also have no one to go with, not that that has stopped me before. I've gone alone plenty of times. But it's more fun with someone.
Re: What a day indeed.
Date: 2011-07-29 01:53 am (UTC)Stewie just had the declaw done at this time.
As it was, getting Stewie declawed and Peaches spayed and declawed and all of them having shots, it cost $850. Ouch.
Now I have to sweat 3.5 lbs off Tiggy so I can get her done.
Thank God, my brother in law Bert volunteered to pay for them. He can afford it, and he loves cats. It was just a blessing to me.
