Sunday/Monday
Aug. 8th, 2011 10:40 pmMy computer would not connect to my mom's wifi last night, so I could not write my daily entry.
Sunday morning, I got up and peelel and sliced potatoes, carrots, and onions. Stuck them in the roaster with my beef roast and slid it into the oven. Mom had gone to church, so I had the whole kitchen to myself. I like to cook.
While it was baking, I took a nice soak in the tub. Washed my hair too. I felt so refreshed after that.
After that, I went back down to my lair and put clothes on. Then I started working on the room again. It is so putzy and time consuming to get all this stuff organized and find "homes" for everything.
The roast beef dinner wasn't done until nearly 2 pm, but it was so worth waiting for!
After lunch, we sat in the recliners upstairs. Mom was reading Not Without My Daughter and I was reading The Doll House Murders. We both fell asleep. Napping in a recliner on a Sunday afternoon is such a decadent luxurious feeling.
Later, mom went to the cemetery to water plants with Lily. I kept working on my tasts.
Jack and Kari got home from their vacation way up north. Cora wanted to know if they were going to see "Grandma and Auntie Cheryl" so I told them that we could come over once Mom got home from the cemetery.
We went over for a little while--everyone was really tired and burnt out. They had a long, traffic filled journey home, so they were just worn out.
When Mom and I got home, we ate cold leftover roast beef on buns. It was delicious.
I wanted to get on the internet for a while, but the computer would not connect to the wifi. I didn't feel like digging around under my mom's computer desk for her wifi, so I just shut down the computer and went to bed.
I was having a hard time falling asleep, so I took some Nyquil. BAM! That knocked me out and I slept until nearly noon.
Stewie slept in my arms most of the night. It was lovely.
Caleb was here when I woke up. Kari and Jack had gone to Owatonna to see Captain America, Cora stayed at her friend's house, and Caleb came here. He carried a couple of things down for me, found a cover for me, and played with the cats a bit.
I sorted and organized. I moved the socks I make into doll sweaters into a bigger receptical. I put a bunch of yarn into the bottom drawer of the dresser in the bathroom. I wanted to squeeze a few more pieces of felt into that drawer too, but it wouldn't fit. The felt drawer is absolutely STUFFED already, so no more will fit in there.
I sorted out and packed some of my Barbie furniture into a large tote. I filed some of the paper stuff I printed off the computer. It was stuff like doll sized checker boards and stuff like that.
Tomorrow I hope to continue to work on that sort of stuff.
Around 5 pm, Mom and Caleb decided they needed Dairy Queen, so I drove them to Blooming Prairie's DQ. Mom was worried about my gas situation as my gas gauge doesn't work. The gas station doesn't take checks and I didn't want to use up my limited supply of cash, so I asked Mom if she would put it on her debit card then I could write her a check. She said sure. But then she wouldn't take my check! She said I would be driving her around a lot so I should just forget it.
That was very kind of her. It was around $40 worth of gas.
It was a quiet ride to Blooming. There were several squashed animals of undeterminable species dead on the road. eww. Mom got her pecan cluster turtle blizzard. Caleb got the Chocoholic Supreme blizzard, and I just had a banana malt. I love my banana malts.
There was a guy selling produce out of his pick up near the DQ, so we stopped and bought six tomatoes and a yummy looking cantaloupe.
We gave six of the tomatoes to Jack and Kari.
We drove over there to deliver the tomatoes. Then we stayed to watch a movie from their Net Flix account. It was called Alabama Moon. Apparently it was made in 2009. I had never heard of it, but it was very good and sweet.
When we got home we had sliced tomatoes on toast for supper. Tomatoes on toast is one of my most favorite things to eat in the entire world.
When I got down to my room again, I put a few things away and scrubbed the grime off my Minnie Mouse doll. I have several others that need a good scrubbing and then to be dressed in clean clothing.
Tomorrow I have to do some laundry.
I'd like to vacuum in here as well. There are a lot of little bits and pieces of stuff laying on the carpet.
I guess that's all I have for today.
Don't sweat the gas.
Date: 2011-08-09 06:25 am (UTC)I've never seen Alabama Moon either, but I'll remember it if I should see it listed. Another nice one for Christmas is The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey. It's a favorite book of mine and I didn't know they made it into a movie but if it was Tom Berenger it couldn't be that bad.
I saw "Not Without my Daughter" with Sally Field. Can't say I'd want to read the book. It would just get me wound up.
