Bullies are ultimately cowards. All it takes to stop them is for people to unite and call them on their bullshit en mass. Also, employers need to read employee bullies the riot act, give them a chance or two, then fire their asses if the issue continues. When the employer himself is the bully, the employees need to stick together and refuse to tolerate that treatment.
Public horsewhipping appeals to me as well, but I don't think the justice system would go for it.

That would work except...
Date: 2011-09-03 01:36 am (UTC)In my school district there are plenty of principal-bullies. The teachers make grievances through the union and complain but nothing is done. Often the higher ups are either bullies themselves or condone it because they like the results. A few superintendents ago he was the ultimate bully. He hired bullies to work under him and they promoted bullies to be principals and upper management in the district. He's long gone but his bullies still remain in their positions and everyone suffers for it.
