The power was off for about 12 hours but I was hardly powerless.
I secured the garage and house, packed the dogs and went to my parents' house for a dinner and quiet evening of listening to the radio. Once they announced all the schools would be closed I came home, opened the bedroom windows and then read by LED light until the room cooled off. I even set up a little USB fan to my laptop.
We;re used to this sort of thing and are prepared. My Dad must have a dozen Coleman lanterns. I have a gas stove and lump charcoal for the grill.
I'm considering buying an inverter so I can use the Prius as a generator.
I'll catch up with my entries and you'll never know I was offline.
Didn't the have it on the TV? I've heard it wasn't covered much, not like the hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, the east coast earthquake or the drought and fires in Texas. It's like the West Coast doesn't matter.
I think it was Rick Perry's fault. He comes here and we have record breaking heat and then a historic unprecedented blackout until he's gone.
