I had to take mom to her doctor appointment in Albert Lea today.  We left here at about 9 am.  We stopped at the bank so I could cash my check from the consignment shop.  It was $32.  Not much, but a little "jingle" in the pocket feels better than the fluttering of moths in there.  Ha.

Her appointment was at about 9:30.  I stayed in the car.  It was a beautiful day--a little rainy in the beginning, but then sunny, coolish, and very windy.  I brought my little sewing box and a book.  I didn't read the book, but I got the little Christmas shirt done--I sewed red and green buttons on it for a little pizzazz.  I wish I had put some kind of a collar on it.  I got the pirate culottes sewed up to the point where I need to put the elastic waist band in.  I didn't remember to put elastic in the sewing box.  I got the plaid flannel pants sewed up to the point of elastic as well...and the plaid shirt up to the point of the facing.  I had forgotten to put in extra fabric for that.  I sewed the black shorts with multi-colored dots on them up to the elastic as well.

Mom's appointment was only supposed to be for a blood draw, but when her doctor saw her, he asked how long it had been since she had a physical.  She couldn't remember, so he gave her one.  LOL.  She didn't get out of there until NOON.   I was totally fine in the car--it wasn't too hot and it wasn't too cold.  I was enjoying my sewing.  I was getting a little anxious  though about Mom.  There's always that niggling little thought--what if she had a stroke or something in there?  But, she was fine.

My biggest problem was that I was thirsty--but if I had had a bottle of water or a can of pop with me, I would probably have had to pee.  I'd rather be thirsty than pee my pants.  LOL.

When she finally came out, we were both starving.  We went to Perkins where we usually have breakfast after her appointments, but it was noon, and we were both hungry for fish.  So we had the cod from the 55+ menu, which I am now eligible to order from.  I had a side salad and asparagus for my sides and Mom had mashed potatoes and gravy and broccoli.  Mashed potatoes and gravy with fish doesn't even sound good to me.  LOL.

I thoroughly enjoyed the fish, the side salad with blue cheese and french dressing, and the asparagus.  Everything was delicious.  I really needed a good meal like that.

Lily called Mom while we were eating, and she somehow managed to fall backwards out of their camper trailer thing.  It is pretty high off the ground, so she fell a long way.  She lit right on her tail bone and she said it is now all swollen, black and blue, and very painful.  I said she should have gone to the ER, but she said Jerry didn't want her to.  I suppose he was afraid that they might cancel her surgery tomorrow and he wants that done.

She's lucky she didn't hit the cement with the back of her head and crush her skull.  I knew the family of a guy who slipped and just fell backwards on the road.  He smashed in the back of his skull and died on the spot.

As we were eating, we looked at the pie menu.  We always look at it, but we never get pie.  Well, this time they had a delicious looking pie that was called  Coconut Candy Bar.  I decided I would get a piece to take home, and Mom, who hates coconut, got a piece of pumpkin pie to take home.  She paid for  the meal and I paid for the pie.

We left there and went to Shopko to pick up Mom's prescriptions.  The doctor had told Mom he wanted her back on Thursday for a bone density test.  This  meant I had to call the Jobs Services Office and reschedule my appointment.  Now it is on for next Wednesday at 1:30.  I had told Mom to call me on my cell if there were electric carts in Shopko.  My knees are too bad to walk and shop, but I haven't been anywhere for nearly two weeks, and I was starting to feel stir crazy.  She called.  I was kind of excited to be able to go and look around in there.  Just for a new bit of scenery.

I enjoyed looking at all the Halloween stuff.  I like that kind of thing.  I was very tempted by some Halloween glasses, but there is no place to put them and I wouldn't be able to use them anyhow.  *sadness*

I looked all over the place, but I didn't buy anything but a couple of really long gummy snakes for Cora and Caleb.  These things are truly hideous--they are brown and green and orange and look just like actual snakes.

I had  to get them, just to hear them squeal.  LOL.  When I say long, I mean these things were a yard or more long!  They cost $2.50 each.  Mom bought some Halloween candy and a pair of socks for Cora.  Her meds prescription never got called in by the doctor, so she paid for them and asked them to mail them to her.  They gave her a couple of pills to tide her over until she got them in the mail.

Which reminds me that I have to pick up a couple of prescriptions in Kasson tomorrow on my way to Rochester to meet Ben.  I think I will try to get there early enough to get my hair cut too.  I would like to color it, but I can't afford that much money.  I will need to fill up my car as well.

When Mom and I got home, we ate our pie and watched some judge shows.  I worked on my sewing some more.  At about five, I came downstairs to see my kitties and mess around on my computer a bit.  I caught up with all my Scrabble games that I have in motion and started going through my email.  I fell asleep and dozed for a little while.  I didn't return upstairs and went supperless again.  Mom had tomatoes and toast.  I ate a couple of spoonfuls of peanut butter out of the jar down here.

When I got to Rochester tomorrow, I will be going to Walmart and looking for some things that I can keep down here--like crackers, for example.  I'll have to look and see what I can find in the convenient foods aisle.  Maybe I can even get some pizza rolls or something that I can heat up in the microwave on these no-food days.

Another thing I need to do tomorrow is stop at Verizon and pay my cell phone bill.  I'm sure it is about due again.

That's about it for me today.  I didn't accomplish anything in my room or with my organizing today.  Ah, well.  Maybe tomorrow after I get back from Rochester I will be able to get some stuff done.

But a microwave doesn't do much good without a refrigerator. Most of the stuff you'd heat up would have to be refrigerated.

You had a full day, even if you didn't do that much. You got a lot of sewing done.

You really need to consider opening an Etsy shop with your doll clothes. I'll bet they're really cute. Especially the holiday ones. It might give you a little pocket change.

I want to do just that. I have to figure out how etsy works.

There is a refrigerator down here--a full sized one on the opposite end of the basement--but I would prefer one that no one else got to poke around in. Where I could keep my secret stash of emergency rations.

Don't dismiss that fridge.

How often does anyone use it? How often does it get "poked around" in?

When I had to share a refrigerator at school, I designated one drawer as mine. People don't mess with what they don't see.

And it has a freezer. That would give you microwave options like those pizza rolls.

Label you stuff or get a big Tupperware, put your name on it and put your stuff in there.

One way to get your privacy respected is to enforce it.

I think it's only fair that since your Mom made you get rid of your little fridge (while she keeps the broken sewing machines and old TV) that you be able to use that one. It's bad enough you have to buy all of your own food. You can't live on cheese and crackers.

It gets poked around in daily and often by my niece and nephew, I dont have to buy ALL my own food--it's just that I feel weird helping myself to the kitchen when Mom decides she doesn't want to eat that day, I like to be a private person and if I eat in my own room, I won't hear about the "mess"
