Monday/Tuesday
Oct. 4th, 2011 11:31 pmI am not going to bother trying to catch up with everything I missed during my dark period.
Monday--
I had to have Mom to Albert Lea early as she had an appointment to have blood drawn. I brought my sewing box and sat in the car while she went in. I worked on the last things I had cut out for the Chryssie doll. I did not finish them all, but I came close.
While I was in the parking lot, my sister Joni called me and asked what I was up to. I explained that I was sitting in the parking lot waiting for Mom, and she told me that no home care nurse was available to take care of Kaylee, so she had to go home at noon. She thought that as long as she had to go home, she might as well can some of her apple pie filling, and she wondered if Mom and I would like to come over and help. I said I would have to ask the momma, but that I didn't think there would be any problem with it.
When Mom came out, I told her about Joni's request, and she was fine with it. We went to Perkins for breakfast--we both had the Magnificent Seven Early Bird Special. While we were finishing up, Kim called, upset because Kevin had promised her that he would watch the kids for a few minutes so she could go upstairs and make an important phone call--and, as usual, his "promises" last about as long as an ice cube in hell. She called only to vent, but I told her that Mom and I were on our way to Joni's and that we could probably swing by and keep an eye on the day care kids for a few minutes. She was so relieved--and truly, it was not that big a deal. Kevin is just such a worthless husband to her.
Anyhow--Mom wanted to go home first so she could change out of her good clothes and put on every day clothes. Also, we got home just in time for her "story" (soap opera) to come on. So, she changed her clothes and watched her soap, and I continued to sew my doll clothes.
Before we went to Owatonna, we went to the bank where she cashed my check from the consignment shop in Stewartville. That gave me almost $30 to play with. (Not much, but enough to see a movie or get an ice cream cone.)
We went to Kim's where she wanted to wait until the majority of her kids had fallen asleep before she went up stairs. She really takes care of some cute little kids, but some of them drive her nuts. The baby does nothing but scream constantly. That would drive me crazy. I sewed while we watched them, and Kim was able to get her call made.
Then we went out to Joni's to peel apples. Jeff used the apple peeler/corer, but Mom and I preferred to peel them the old fashioned way. I don't know how many apples we peeled--but I'm sure it was a couple hundred at least. Joni made 21 quarts of apple pie filling and we still had a ton of peeled apples left over for Jeff to dehydrate.
We were there till after 5 pm. Then Mom was anxious to get going home because her Dancing with the Stars or someting was on at 7 and we needed to stop at Walmart. I had run low on a bunch of vitamins, so I picked them up. I also bought two bags of cat food. I should have bought some cat litter too, but I didn't. I saw a real pretty print remnant that was only $1.35, and I would have picked it up if Mom had not been along. She made a remark about how I had "enough fabric." I said, "There is no such thing as too much fabric!" But I didn't buy it. It was a small poppy print. It would have been perfect for doll clothes. Maybe I will get it the next time I am in town.
When we left Walmart, I suggested we order a pizza from Godfather's and use our coupon. Well, the chick who took our order must have been brain damaged because she didn't get the order right. (But I am getting ahead of myself).
Kim had called and asked if we would pick up Kari's Mary Kay order. We said we would, so we went there from Walmart, figuring we had to kill half an hour any how before we could get the pizza. When we got to Kim's no one was home and neither the house phone or Kim's cell phone were answered.
Finally I called Lucas, and he said he was waiting for Kim to pick him up at Lincoln School and that they would be home soon. Shortly after he hung up, Kim called to say she would be home soon, but she had to pick up Lucas and she couldn't remember where Lincoln school was. (I think she was so stressed out by her husbands assholishness that she had a mind break of some sort.)
We waited a very long time, first for Kim to get home and then for her to get the Mary Kay stuff together. Then we headed to Godfather's to get our pizza--which turned out to be wrong. They offered to remake it but it was 6:45, and I wanted to see Terra Nova and MOM wanted to see her Dancing with the Stars show. So I told them we were in a hurry, and we would just take it like it was. The girl called the manager out, and she gave us $5 off for our trouble. The mistake worked out to my advantage because Mom wanted beef and green olive on her pizza, and we had to add two more ingredients to make it work with the coupon--so I said, "How about black olives and mushrooms?" So, the dumb chick just gave us a black olive and mushroom pizza. Duh. However, black olive and mushroom is like my favorite pizza combination. I don't really care for meat on my pizza.
We had also ordered Monkey Bread, and we were so hungry by this time that we snarfed the monkey bread on our way home.
When we were almost home, we called Kari to see if she wanted us to bring her Mary Kay stuff to her, since Kim said she was out and we were in the car anyhow. She said okay, and we dropped her stuff off before we went home.
When we got home, we had to carry all our stuff into the house. By the time I got my pizza and settled down in front of the TV, I had missed about half of the show. But I did watch House after that. I hadn't seen a lot of House last season, and I didn't really get why he was in prison, but it was good. House is always good.
I went to bed at 9 pm but messed around on Facebook for a while after that, playing the Scrabble-like game they have on there.
Tuesday--
A much less vigorous day.
I washed a bunch of Mom's knick knacks from the family room. I did some gluing on one that was broken. After Mom's soap opera was over, we went upstairs and ate grilled cheese sandwiches--I had Swiss on Rye, and Mom had PepperJack on Rye. It was very tasty.
After lunch, I came down to my lair and cleaned and organized. But first I spent a little time dinking around with WWF (Words with Friends--the Scrabble like game on Facebook) and Bubble Pop, another facebook game. I got a bunch of doll "families" put in small totes and put up on the top shelf of the closet. Mom helped me do this. I freaked her out by giving her a little family history/summary of each of the doll families in the boxes. LOL.
I sorted through a big Walmart bag full of files and stuff. I got the important things filed in a file drawer, put the recipes in a big wire basket to be typed up and properly stored, And I dressed a few naked dolls.
Oh, I also had three music CDs that were not in their proper cases, so I found the cases and put them away. That took a while. But everything is as it should be now.
Mom and I had tuna sandwiches and tomato slices for supper. Then she watched her show and I came down to the basement family room to watch NCIS. It was pretty good--Lily Tomlin guest starred as McGee's grandma. That was a treat. At the end she was off on a date with Ducky. Therefore, I am hoping she will become a semi-regular and that Ducky can have some romance.
I have had to take frequent breaks from typing this entry as Stewie is snuggled up tight to me, purring, and he requires frequent stroking and skritching, and snuggling. He is Momma's precious baby!
Tomorrow I hope to vacuum my bedroom, put fresh sheets on the bed, and do a little laundry. I have to take Mom to the doctor again tomorrow--her appointment is at 1 pm. I will be bringing my sewing again. It really passes the time pleasurably for me.
I also have to file for next week's unemployment and put my resume into the search engines.
Being unemployed and dealing with this whole unemployment thing is the massive SUCK.

Broken tchatchkies.
Date: 2011-10-05 05:27 am (UTC)Sounds like you had quite the full day.
At the end of last season Cuddy found out House was still taking vicodin and lying to her. She broke up with him. He did not take it very well. He parked outside her house, and then when everyone moved into a different room, he drove his house through her front window into her living room. This season picked up that he was in prison, mostly for pissing everyone off about the entire thing, from the arresting officer to the judge at trial, etc.
I'd like to see how they manage to restore his medical license after this. And his job. Cuddy so fired him. The only way I see him returning to Princeston-Plainsboro is for Cuddy to leave and someone else take her place.
I think you should take photos of all of your families in all of their different outfits, then write up their histories. Then publish it. That will be your first book.
