The house to the left was torched by the resident four or five year old. It is a complete loss. The fire burned so hot that the house next to it, on the right, had its brand new siding melted off.

Many years ago, when the mother of the tot was just a tot herself, I used to paint ceramics with the tot's grandma.

The tot who became the momma to the tot who is a budding young arsonist was one of the most spoiled little princesses I've ever known.  Many was the time when I thought she would benefit from a few good hard swats to her ass.

Our houses are that close together too. In fact, the house to the south of me is much closer as we both rest on the same parcel that was divided. My house has 60% of the parcel and that house 40%. Mine is much bigger. The easements are small to up the density in the neighborhood.

No mystery the kid did this as you parent as you were parented and his Mother had lousy parents so she is a lousy parent.

I'm sure she was pleased as punch to haul out her prodigy to demonstrate his parlor trick for visitors; "Look, he's only five and can already light matches!"
