Saturday, July 24

I took advantage of the  quiet day to catch up on my DW entries again.  I also put the peel and stick numbers on my new mailbox and moved it into the breezeway so Jack and Caleb can take the old mailbox off the post and put this new, bigger one up.  I cleaned the litterboxes and washed the dishes before microwaving one of the Schwan’s single serve cheese pizzas for lunch.  I had a little of the spring pasta salad too.  An odd combination, but it filled my stomach which was the point, I guess.

I have been trying to clear up the clutter in my house in preparation to having a professional cleaner come in and give everything a thorough cleaning.  I am getting more and more uncertain about the cleaner though.  With this new strain of Covid gaining strength, I don’t really want an unknown entity in my house.  What if she is a fucking tRUMPanzee anti-vax, anti-max lunatic?  I am seriously considering cancelling her visit.  I just have a very bad feeling in my gut about the situation.

I wanted to do the laundry today, but Peaches spent the whole day in the dirty clothes basket, snuggling with my dirty laundry.  She looked so cute, I just did not have the heart to boot her out of the basket.

The Artists’ Way Zoom meeting with DeAnn went well.  We were both tired again, but we managed to have a good conversation about all the possibilities that lay before us.  Peaches again spent most of the day in the laundry basket.  I just left her alone.  Obviously, she needs her rest.

I decided today that my negative vibes about the cleaning person were too intense to ignore.  I texted and then emailed the service and told them I did not want her to come and that I would contact them if I decided to reschedule.  They emailed me back that I was on a contract to have my house cleaned by them once a month, and that they would draw the money from my account two days before each scheduled cleaning appointment.

This really pissed me off as I specifically told them I was NOT interested doing that until I had my house cleaned by them so I could judge whether I liked their service or not.  So, I told them to immediately cancel that and NOT to contact me about cleaning.  If I was interested, I would contact THEM.

I strongly doubt that I will EVER use that service now.  There is always a reason for those strong negative feelings.

Missy’s syringes and the new towels I bought were delivered today.  I called Lily and told her the syringes had arrived, but she said it was just too hot for her to come and get them today.  She said she’d pick them up tomorrow as she had to go to Owatonna to get some stuff anyhow.

The weatherman keeps promising us some rain and thunderstorms, but so far, nothing.

I have been enjoying my new Ipad, especially at night before I go to sleep—I have been watching “urban explorers” who go to abandoned buildings and film what they look like on the inside.  I especially enjoy watching them explore big old “mansion” type homes from various periods in history.  I saw a gorgeous Queen Anne style home that was pretty much perfect except the roof was leaking, causing the ceilings to start to fall in.  The woodwork, windows, and wrap-around porches were astonishing.  Some of them still have gorgeous vintage and antique furniture rotting away inside of them.  One had a piano in every room on the main floor.  They were all obviously extremely nice, expensive pianos in their day.  A lot of the fireplaces had Italian marble or fired tiles that were gorgeous.

I find it hard to believe that no one is salvaging any of these beautiful things.  There were some gorgeous craftsman style homes too.

One of the places I watched be explored was an abandoned church.  Some homeless person had apparently taken up residence there and had been squirreling away all kinds of stuff in the building.  There were scores and scores of dolls in there.  Mostly vintage dolls from the 1950s.  There were some in very rough shape, but there were a few that I would have brought home with me without a second thought.

Tuesday, July 27

I got two big boxes delivered today—I am sure the biggest one is the new office chair I bought.  It was on sale plus I got another 30% off on it as I had also purchased two sets of lavender towels, a set of really nice sheets with deep pockets so the bed will not come unmade all the time, and a new and much sturdier shower chair.  The only thing I am waiting on now is the shower chair.  Everything else is here.

David Lassahn mowed my yard today.  I had paid for all of July in advance, so next time he mows, I will have to pay for the month of August.

My sister Joni called this morning.  She told me she is feeling better, not vomiting or pooping blood and mucus all day anymore, but she is still feeling so completely exhausted all the time that she only wanted to sleep.  She has C-dif, and nothing they did for her helped at all—it only seemed to make her issues worse.  Finally they gave her some really powerful antibiotics that cost a bloody fortune.  They seem to be helping with the symptoms, but she is still exhausted.  They have told her she cannot eat anything with fiber in it.  Really, there is practically nothing that she is allowed to eat.  Yogurt, they told her.  Her sodium levels are dangerously low—when she first went to the doctor, the levels were so low, they were worried she might have a heart attack.

She could not talk very long as the exhaustion set in again and she had to go lie down.  She said they had taken her little black cat Tokyo in to be neutered.  It turned out he also had a small tumor in his ear, so they had to remove that as well.  Poor little baby.

Not much else is going on.  I am still trying to get my house tidied up and get the clutter under control.

I still could not do laundry as Peaches is STILL claiming the laundry basket as her favorite bed.  Tomorrow I have to do laundry no matter what.  She has many other places she can sleep!

I think those exploring abandoned homes shows might be having a subliminal depressing effect on you, especially if you are binging them. I think you should at least intersperse them with some shows on people who are restoring old homes. There are a lot more people doing it than Rehab Addict. See if you can download Peacock to your iPad and register for free. Then look for Escape to the Chateau. There are six seasons and the couple are very positive and cheerful, no matter what happens. You would also like the design style of the wife. If you have PRIME there is Project Restoration (season 1 free), Restoration Home (three seasons), The Restoration Man (free with commercials). I haven't seen The Restoration Man, it's next on m list but I really enjoyed Restoration Home. There are more but I think they were on either HULU or HBO and I'd have to look for them. I think you would enjoy them.

That dirty laundry has your smell which must be comforting for Peaches. The question is why she needs such constant comfort for days and days. Does she seem like she's ill at all?

C-Diff is catching so she must make sure the toilet is sanitized every time she goes if she is sharing with anyone else. My Mother has C-Diff but hasn't had an attack in several years. I make her eat yogurt every day which helps. She also watches her diet a bit. She also has diverticulitis which complicates things a bit. My Mom's doctor said her C-Diff was caused by powerful antibiotics. That's why you have to take probiotics, eat yogurt, sauerkraut, drink kombucha, anything that will help restore the body's natural gut flora. Google it and you'll find lists of stuff you can eat with C-Diff. I made lists for my Mom and she stuck to it and in about six weeks she was feeling almost normal. She doesn't follow it as much as she used to but still does the yogurt. In extreme cases you get a "shit transplant" that provides the flora. My Dad offered to donate shit to her.
