I have been at school since about 10 am--it is now 2:10 pm.

I frittered away some time researching some "activities" for the Camp Cho experience I intend to sponsor for 30 lucky LFOK (Little Friends of Kelly--the 4" barbie "little sister" kids).  Naughty, naughty Aunty Cho!  I used the school's color printer to print off mini story books of Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue Ox.  I also printed off some information on making origami butterflies and some short lessons on butterflies and frogs.  I have printed off single copies of a couple of things about frogs--life cycle of frog sequencing cards and a large pattern for making a frog of felt that I intend to shrink to Kelly size.  Another thing I printed off was a pattern for making Independence Day pinwheels.

I think I will enslave a couple of my students to color the frog life cycle sequence cards--then it will be as if the "children" colored them themselves.

I have to get little cabins, a lodge, and a couple of outhouses made--also, some canoes.  :D

Well, Spring vacation is coming up.  I can work on a lot of this stuff then.

GOOD NEWS:  In the middle of the night, I was sort of groggily awake--lying on my side and rubbing my cat's stomach.  Suddenly my knee twitched and I heard a gargantuan POP.  It felt odd, but it didn't hurt at all.  And today--no pain in my knee.  So whatever happened to it must have undone itself.

For that, I am TRULY thankful.

Well, I have a few things left to correct and a couple more packets to xerox--for my students, not for Camp Cho.

Be back with an update later!

The last of my correcting is done.  I am printing off my gradesheets now.  All I have left to do is input my grades into the JMC program (that piece of SHIT grade program--unlike my AWESOME Making the Grade program) and also input the last bit of attendance that I have been behind on by a couple of weeks.  It will not take me too long to do this.  Then I will type up the new schedules for my homeroom.

Jay has given me three REALLY awesome new candidates.  I'm really excited for the growth potential in my homeroom with this "new blood."   On the whole, I am quite satisfied with my kids' new schedules and with my OWN new schedule.  I will have two sections of Senior Seminar, and the neediest kids will be in a small group of nine.  They will be highly stressful in some ways, but the fact that there are only nine of them will make it quite sweet for me.

I'll be teaching two sections of Biographical Studies and one of Poetry--the poetry will be a bit over loaded--by two--but usually we lose a couple any way at some point.

Now onto a new topic entirely.  I don't remember if I mentioned that one of my little Kelly dolls traveled to Louisiana for a pre-Christmas celebration.  It was awesome, and her hosts have begun posting up pictures of the good times had by the little ones.  Now, the same little girl and one of my little boys (Piper and Garth) are going to Knit Kamp in Australia!  I hope to send them out today--or maybe tomorrow morning, as one of the things I have to do before they go is make a sleeping bag for Garth and some summer pjs for both of them.  Garth could also use a swimming suit and a couple extra shorts outfits.  It's summer in Australia!

Anyhow, I am thinking of setting up a "North Country" trip for the kids--I could take them with me in June when I go to Bemidji--while I am there, I could take them to Itasca state park and take pictures of them at the headwaters of the Mississippi River.  I could take them to see Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox!!

It would be awesome!!

I have to write down a few of my ideas now, since I am a bit stressed right now at the end of the quarter, and I might forget some of my great ideas if I don't get them written down.

Okay--I spend some time pulling images of Paul and Babe off the internet--I bought three sheets of that computer transfer stuff with the thought of using it to make a variety of T-shirts for Barbies.  I've pulled down some Narnia images and a few other odds and ends--I want to have some Foamy the Squirrel T-shirts too--I think I could fill a whole sheet up with images so none is wasted.  I'm betting DeAnn would be intrigued enough with the idea to help me make the transfers.

Anyhow, I would like to make each camper a Paul/Babe T-shirt.  I could have a few different versions, since I found several cute pictures on the net.

I also thought I could make each of the little campers a "Paul Bunyan" outfit--I'd make them a red plaid shirt, "blue jeans," and a toy axe.

I thought I could try to make them each a babe the blue ox toy out of fimo.  Something else that I bet DeAnn could help me do.

I also found some "Paul Bunyan" legends on the net.  I copied and pasted them into my computer, thinking I could probably shrink them down, intersperse them with some of the images I've found, and make each child a Legends of Paul Bunyan book similar to the Night Before Christmas books I send to LA with Piper.  Making the little books can be a bit tedious, but now that I've purchased the tiny hole punch and also have figured out how to make the pages uniform size, it should be much much easier.

I think I can make a Boys and  a Girls cabin from cardboard boxes--and a his/hers set of outhouses!--we want the kiddies to have the full effect of the North Woods environment.  We could have a chow hall with long tables with red checked gingham tablecloths and simple benches.  Those would be super simple to make.  And I think I can come up with a variety of animals that can "visit" them.  Hee hee hee....skunks, squirrels, deer....it could be lots and lots of fun.

"Stew" ought to be a good dinner/supper meal, while "flapjacks" would be good for breakfast.  I can make the chow out of fimo.

I can make bunk beds out of plastic canvas--or maybe Jim would make me some out of wood.  I have a simple pattern idea that my nephew once gave me--it's just a head and foot with thin dowels attaching them.  You make a hammock like bed of cloth.  They would be pretty easy to power out, if he would be willing to make the pieces for me--and I could assemble them all.  If this turned out to be cool, I could always make it a yearly event, and I would always have the bunkbeds.

A couple of my native American dolls can visit camp to show the children how to make dream catchers--which I think I could get made ahead of time, so each child could take home a dream catcher too....

I wonder if I can get Jim interested enough to attempt to make me a couple of birch bark canoes.  I think I have to plan on between 12-25 children coming to the North Woods expedition.  Kaz has FORTY in Australia!!

I might have to limit size, since this will be my first shot at this.

I think I have plenty of time to do all of this, since I don't have to host it until JUNE.

Oh, I'm just bubbling with enthusiasm at this idea!!

It would be so cool....

Now, I wonder if anyone would let their children come to visit me!!

I know Kathy would, and Annette would most likely let Sweetie come....hmmmm.....

I'll have to make a little advertisement that is so appealing that the children themselves will BEG to come to "Camp Cho."

Heh heh heh...

Any other good ideas?
