She will have to continue to have CT scans every so often for a while to be sure nothing else crops up.
For a sucky scenario, it turned out as well as could be expected.
DeAnn and I were going to meet for breakfast and "girl talk" today, but she called me and said that Jim and Swayze wanted to come too, and Swayze wanted salmon. That was fine with me as I love both Jim and Swayze. We went to the downtown Chinese place, and the food there was nice and hot (for a change). I enjoyed it very much.
Swayze, who is four, has a few little quirks that need to be worked on. He had some meat on a skewer. After eating the meat, he stabbed Jim with the skewer--not viciously, but even so, stabbing your daddy is not the thing to do. So, I pulled out my teacher voice and said, "We don't poke daddy! That makes me sad because I love daddy! Daddys are for loving, not poking." So then, he said, "I don't like you!" (LOL)
I said, "But I LOVE you."
Then he marched around a bit before saying, "Let's go home now."
It amused me, and DeAnn and I chuckled about it quite a bit after Jim and Swayze went to the park to play while we finished our meal. He's really a sweet and good child, but he is FOUR and rambunctious.
DeAnn and I swung by the post office so I could drop my change of address card into the mail. Then we went to Kim's where I dropped off a couple of books and Mom's check to Kim for buying her a machine that can copy her vinyl records onto CDs. Kim put the machine into my trunk and gave me a couple of books she had just finished reading.
I am still working on Never Let Me Go; perhaps I can finish it this weekend.
Then DeAnn and I went to Morehouse Park where Jim and Swayze were playing. We hung out there for quite a while, watcing Swayze making good use of all his energy. He was very excited by the trains going by as there is a train track just across the road from the park. He and Jim and watched a train go by before we got there, and then DeAnn and Swayze got to see another train go by. That one had SEVEN engines, so it must have been hauling a heavy load.
When the train passed, Swayze found a big piece of metal that looked like it might have been some kind of latch on the train. He wanted to know how it fell off the train, so I made up a little story about how the train hit bumps and it jiggled and jiggled until it fell off...and how there was an elehant in the car. When the elephant noticed the door was open, she stuck her trunk out to smell the fresh air, but a tree branch slapped against her trunk and hurt her, so she pulled her trunk back into the train. Then she stuck one of her large toes out to feel the fresh air. But she lost her balance, and her whole body was flying out and only her trunk was hanging on. But then! She sneezed! And this made her lose her grip on the door handle and she tumbled down into the ditch. And now she was wandering around Faribault. (Which is the next big town North of Owatonna.
I had to tell the story at least three times. He seemed to enjoy it.
I left the park at about 2:30 as I had to go to Walmart and Kari was dropping Cora and Caleb off right after school so she and Jack could go to a movie and out for a treat afterwards to celebrate their anniversary. They saw the Brad Pitt baseball movie, and they both said it was really good.
Jim reminded me that it was one year ago today that we had the "landicane" that did so much damage by flooding everything. The park we were in was flooded to the extent that it would have been over our heads. The walking bridge was almost completely underwater! Pretty scary. The thing I remember most about that day is running out of gas on my way home. That was no fun, especially since I had absolutely NOTHING with me to amuse myself while I waited for Jim and DeAnn to come and rescue me. Oh, well. I survived.
It was a gorgeous day today--a little on the cool side, but mostly sunny and pleasant. It was cool in the shade at the park, but when we were in the sun it felt marvelous. I wish my knees were not in such horrible condition. I would have loved to ride a bike today--or just mess around on the play ground equipment with Swayze.
At Walmart, I picked up a case of bottled water, a 12-pack of toilet paper for the basement, an 18-egg carton, miniature chocolate chips (for the pancakes mom was going to make for the kids for supper), and a couple of bags of cheaper chocolate chips. I also bought two 50-sheet packages of page protectors which were on sale for $3.50 a pack. Mom uses those for everything and I figured that she would appreciate me picking them up for her. At that price, I'm glad I did. I bought another pretty $1 notebook and the adorable Snow White set of Squinkys. They are really cute, and they will make excellent "toys" for my dolls.. I will take some pictures of them later.
When I was done there, I headed back to Mom's. Cora and Caleb were already there when I arrived. Cora again lectured me about my room being messy--asking me, "Don't you like to clean?" So, tomorrow, I guess I better get this room tidied up. I'm sure it's making Mom mental too, but she hasn't said anything to me. I am sort of in the mood to clean.
Mom made pancakes and bacon for supper--I don't know how much bacon Cora ate, but it was a lot. She helped Mom measure the stuff out of the pancakes. For some reason, the pancakes did not get nice and fluffy like they usually do. The kids ate them up, and I thought they tasted good, even though they were flat little things. LOL.
The kids were very well behaved and did not fight at all--at least not that I heard. While they were watching TV, I sewed on the summery star dress that I started the other day. It's all put together except for the final 1/4 of the skirt which needs to be sewn onto the bodice. Then all that's left is to sew up the back and put snaps on it. Easy Peasy. Then, I think I may be done sewing for that doll for a while. She has a pretty good wardrobe right now. I'm going to be turning my attention on to the Ideal family.
When Jack and Kari came to pick up the kids, they carried the case of water downstairs and Mom's record thing upstairs.
I watched a couple episodes of Pawn Stars and then a couple of episodes of American Restorations. Those guys are amazingly talented at getting crusty, ugly shit turned into amazingly beautiful stuff. Mom hung out and chatted for a while, then went to bed. I went to bed right after she did, though I played Scrabble on line and then worked on this entry for quite a while.
Oh--last comment--apparently a defunct space satellite is falling slowly out of orbit and will crash land on earth sometime in the wee hours. It could land practically anywhere, but they are pretty sure the bus sized object will not hurt anyone when it lands. LOL We'll see, I guess. I'll know by morning if it hits our neck of the woods. I just hope it doesn't wreck my car. LOL. LOL. LOL. I guess it is time to break out the tin foil hats.
