I was snug in my bed, being snuggled by Stewey and Peaches, both of whom were purring loudly, when my joy was disrupted by the need to pee.  I hated to get up and disrupt my two little snuggle-buggles, but I didn't want to pee in my freshly washed sheets either, so I got up.  Naturally, they had to follow me into the bathroom to supervise and also to lap water directly from the faucet.  As I sat there, waiting for them to finish drinking their fill at the sink, I could see light flickering to the north.

"Could that be lightning?" I wondered.  Indeed, after watching for a bit, i realized it was lightning.  There was even a distant rumble of thunder.

I went back to bed and to reading the book Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.  The lightning continued to flicker.  I can see the bathroom window from my bed.  Then a soft rumble started in the distance.  The rumbling got closer and louder, closer and louder until KRACKBOOOM!  Big thunder and Big Lightning.

The I could hear it pouring.  Good.  My tomatoes needed a good long drink.

It was pretty raucous for a while, but the rumbling has faded off into the distance now.  And just seconds ago, the lights went out--they were probably out for two to three minutes.  Fortunately my laptop is fully charged, so I could keep on typing, but had to wait for  the lights to come on before I could post.

I have nothing of great import to share--I did laundry yesterday and today.  I quit yesterday because I fell down the basement stairs.  I decided not to push my luck.  Today I did a couple loads, and I have one more left for tomorrow.

I don't know what I did,  but about three steps from the bottom of my narrow, steep basement stairway, I missed a step.  By God's grace or dumb luck, I instinctively grabbed the railing and swung out over the abyss.  One foot was  unstably sort-of on a step, the other was dangling in space.   I was strong enough to hold on and keep from falling, but not strong enough to drag myself back up onto the stairs enough to get my balance back.

I caught a glimpse of the big metal support post and caught it with my other hand, so I was sort of hanging suspended between the railing and the support post.  I was in a quandry--I didn't want to let go and drop--but I couldn't hang there indefinitely.

So, I sort of slid my hands down the railing and the floor and ended up plopping onto the cement floor flat on my ass.  I was grateful for that, however, as the alternative would have been to tumble head over heels down the rest of the steps and possibly break my neck--or worse, land on my knees and break the bones.

Once I had actually fallen, I sat there a moment, assessing whether or not I had done myself any actual damage.  I looked at the floor and saw several little spiders racing away from me--and started to laugh.  For some reason, I thought of the movie Armageddon, and instead of a giant comet, it was a very large ASSteroid that dropped unexpectedly upon them from the sky.

I got up carefully, and I seemed to be fully functional, so I swapped out the laundry and carried the dry load upstairs.

Today, both of my arms and shoulders are sore--probably from hanging on for dear life--and my right butt cheek and hip are sore and bruised.  My back feels compressed  too--but it isn't horribly painful.  I think I will call my chiropractor in the morning and let her give me an adjustment.

I worked on the messy corner of my bedroom this morning.  Tomorrow I am going to drag that white cube-shelf into the bedroom and put it in that corner.  I will haul the small computer desk out as it is not working there for me and is very awkward to clean around.  I picked up the stack of boxes the cats had knocked over in the night and vacuumed a little bit of the dining room with my hand vac as there was a lot of crumbs of cat litter and whatnot that the kitties had tracked in.  Now I have a couple of kitty rugs that I put next to the litter boxes.  The little rugs are supposed to keep the litter from spreading throughout the house.

My therapist calls kitty litter "shit grit."  I find that very amusing and have usurped the phrase as my own.

I put away my clean dishes and did up the few dirty dishes that I had.  Al had stayed over night with Jim and DeAnn last night, so they brought her and Swayze over to see the kitties.  They also brought burgers and french fries and onion rings and deep fried mushrooms.  I hadn't had the deep fried mushrooms in a long time, and they were delicious.

Swayze seemed quite distraught by the fact that I had two 12 packs of pop in the porch.  He pestered poor DeAnn until she carried them into the kitchen and put one of them into the refrigerator.  He is such a funny little boy.  He has very strong opinions about the ways things should be.  LOL.

When they left, I did a little more laundry and picked up a few things.  Then I sat in my chair and started reading my book.  A very deep drowsiness came over me and I fell asleep in my chair.  I would probably have slept longer if my cats hadn't got up to some noisy wrestling/chasing game in the porch.

Now I am in bed--the storm has completely passed on now.  I don't even hear a distant rumbling.  Peaches has come to snuggle up with me and purr.  The other two are off most likely destroying something.  I'm pausing to stroke my little Peach Blossom every now and then.

She is soooo soft.  Such a lovely little girl.

Well, good night all.

I have some serious kitty snuggling to do.

I stayed in bed for a while this morning--kittens needed cuddling.  When I got up, I ate a piece of Ingrid's German fruit topped short cake for breakfast and took my pills.  (I had brought both pieces of cake upstairs with me and put them in the fridge up here, and my pill caddy was up here because I needed to refill it.  I took the pills that I should have taken on Thursday.  Rah.

I worked on my bedroom today.  I got the area rug vacuumed and all the stuff that sits on and around it dusted.  I did not get the tops of the dressers dusted as I was sitting on  the floor to do my little hand-vac technique. It looks pretty good except for the fact that I emptied out my dvd shelves to dust them.  I want to dust each individual DVD and inventory them, but I didn't get to it.  Maybe early tomorrow morning I will take the time
to do it.

It was lunch time, so I went downstairs and heated up my left overs from Carlos O'Kelly's.  Yummy.

The kitty litter boxes were full of crap and pee, so I cleaned them.  There was "shit grit" all over the floor near them, so I swept that up.  I figured it was time for me to clean out their water machine too, so I disassembled that and scrubbed it good.  It was nasty and slimey on the inside, so I was right.  It was high time it was cleaned.

The first thing the little shits did when I put it back on the floor for them was to stick their dirty little paws in it.

I did not really feel like cooking today, but I had chicken in the fridge and I did not want it to go bad.  Tomorrow I will be gone most of the day at school, so there'd be no cooking then.  I baked the chicken with chopped carrots, onions, and celery.  I seasoned it with a little soy sauce.  It tasted very good when it was done baking.

While that was baking, I started the hamburger cooking with ground carrots and onions.    While that was cooking, I boiled up some rotini.  After draining it, I threw it back in the pot, carefully scooped the hamburger out of the frying pan with a slotted spoon to avoid the grease, and added the Bertoli five-cheese sauce and some shredded cheese I had in the refrigerator.

While that was simmering, I cleaned all my grapes and bagged them in individual snack sized bags.  I put 20 grapes in each baggie.  When that was done, I did the same with the cherries I had bought--but they were bigger, so I only put 12 in each baggie.

I am making a serious effort to eat fruit and eat three healthy meals a day instead of just eating whatever comes to hand or going out to eat junk food every day.

I put the chicken and rice in two good-sized storage bowls and put the roaster in the sink.

The spaghetti like hot dish was done by then, so I put that into two other good sized storage bowls.

Then I rinsed out the big pan and boiled up some more noodles.  I chopped up pickles and cheese and celery and drained black olive slices and mushroom slices.  I used up all the rest of my pickles to make my macoroni salad, and then I used up the rest of my Miracle Whip.  I didn't know I had so little left.

I had called Jim earlier to tell him I was cooking and he and DeAnn and Swazye got some.  He stopped in to pick it up later in the afternoon.  He came just minutes after I had finished the cooking.  I was sweating like a sailor.  I gave them half of everything I made except the macoroni salad--the got 3/5s of that.

Jim was then kind enough to bring up my basket of laundry from the basement where it has been languishing for a week or so.  He also put my last two bags of garbage into the garbage can and hauled it out to the street for me.

Swayze terrorized the kitties in his attempts to play with them.  LOL.  Eventually they will all become friends, I am sure.

I wanted to make some oatmeal bars today, but I was just too exhausted and overheated to consider that.

I hauled my laundry upstairs and folded and put it way.  I had thought about dusting and putting away my dvds, but decided I can do that tomorrow--maybe early in the morning, since I am hoping to wake up around 5 am.

Time for bed now.  My ass is dragging.
