Well, it is almost 4 pm, and I am leaving school approximately two hours ahead of schedule.

Thank goodness, I have (mostly) responsible kids who worked very hard. I don't know what I will do without Dean. He is the heart and soul of my home room. He sets the pace and the others kind of stumble after him as well as they can.

Heh heh.

Carl, the idiot (and I use this term with nothing but love for my immature little darling), managed to smash his finger and spent the rest of the time prancing around squealing and looking for sympathy. Dean put a deep bleeding gash in his hand, got a bandaid for himself, and kept working.

Just about everything is back where it belongs. The book shelves are MOSTLY put right. And I (hard as it was to do) managed to pitch out a few old text books and some other crap.

My cool light which my sister-in-law Kari gave me got broken in the move--but we repaired it with duct tape in my children's literature class. It actually doesn't look too bad--and the class had a good laugh over it.

All the other teachers were done with their move in two hours. We were not, of course, but we had to go with the flow, and off to third hour my group went.

Well, I told my third hour class that I HAD to get the room put to rights, so they had two choices: They could help me, or they could sit out in the hallway (out of my way) on the chairs and sit there, quietly talking. I said, "You are NOT allowed to wander around in the halls or go to the minilab (where the computers are) or down to the student lounge."

It actually worked out pretty well--I had about four helpers--the others sat in the hallway. (Dinks--that is NOT R.O.C. culture, but it was better for us all to have the laggards out of my way. That way I didn't have to resort to bloodshed and screamed profanities.)

The room looks good. I have thrown away two huge garbage bags full of crap--and I intend to throw away at least that much more this week. I am being RUTHLESS in going through my unit boxes. If I haven't taught it since I came here and do not have SERIOUS plans for teaching it--it's GONE.

It pains me to throw out ANYTHING, but there comes a time when you have to lighten the load if you intend to get over the rockies--unless you want to live in the desert forever.

Heh heh heh.

Just a little gratuitous pioneer history humor.

There will be a friends only entry with a bit more information that I don't want publically seen.

Thank GOD this chore is done. I dreaded it all Christmas break. And it was horrible--but it could have been A LOT worse than it was.

Okay--I'm out of here.
