I feel slightly better today--at least I am resigned to my fate and not struggling against it.

I slept in very late--and sleep is always a good thing.

I then wrote this up--as some marketing research amongst my doll collecting friends.

*************************

Greetings, doll collecting friends!

With your help, I would like to do a little research on people’s dollie desires.

I would like to start selling some of my things--either on eBay or on some other on-line place--but I don’t want to saturate the market by offering what lots of other people are offering.

My special love is sewing for the children dolls--especially vintage skipper, but I love to sew for Tutti, Hermoine, Ron, and Harry (from the first set), Stacie, Kelly, and even Liddle Kiddles and Krissy. I also sew for teen skipper and francie. (I sew for Barbie too--but I think there are so MANY people sewing for Barbie, that there is really no need for my stuff on the market.) I also like to sew for Ken and Kevin and the other male dolls.

If no one minds, I would like to ask a few questions for the sake of data gathering purposes. Regardless of how the information returns to me--I will still sew what I LOVE to sew. It would just be very nice if there was an interest and a perceived need for what I love to sew!

Here are my questions:

What (if any) dolls do you think have a need for more clothing and accessories?

Which of the following types of clothing would you be interested in?

“Fancy” clothes --suits, evening gowns, frilly dresses, party type attire

“Wedding clothes” -- flower girl outfits, junior bridesmaids, tuxedoes, bridal gowns

“Sunday School” clothes--clothes suitable for church occasions.

“School Clothes” --clothes that little girls and boys would wear to school.

“Play Clothes” --clothes for the rough and tumble or for adventures in the park or woods or back yard

“Bedtime Clothes”--pjs, night gowns, robes

“Winter Clothes”--coats, jackets, caps, scarves, stocking caps, sweaters

“Mix-n-match Clothes”--several items (blouses, skirts, pants, shirts) that share a “palette” and can be mixed and matched (Like GRRANIMALS for children)

“Let’s Pretend” clothes--playtime costumes (pirates, cowboys, princesses and princes, spacemen and aliens, super heroes)

“Undies” Let’s face it--there are never enough underpants to go around! Would sets with a variety of colored undies be something people would be interested in?

“Holiday Clothes”--special clothing for New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas

What kind of accessories do you wish you had?

(Here are a couple of examples of things which I’ve either made or have ideas to make)

School folders with actual homework in them

Readable children’s books

“Barbie scale” paper dolls for the children to play with

Realistic toys made of fimo or wood

Puzzles and games

Book bags

Backpacks

What “food” for the Barbie scale do you wish you had?

In the food line, are you more interested in one serving plate with the meal on it, or in individual plates with the servings on them for the family members? And how many plates of food should come in a set?

In the furniture line--what furniture is most needed?

How do you feel about plastic canvas furniture?

That’s all I can think of for the moment, but I’ll ask more questions if they come to me. I hope it isn’t too forward of me to ask these things--but I figured EVERYONE who makes things could benefit from the information--not just me!

*****************************

I figure that gathering some data is better than just rushing blindly into something.  I know that people are making money selling barbie clothing on ebay and in other places.  I have enough fabric to cloth a third world nation--and I can get lots more, often at no cost to myself, from other people who sew and have scraps that are big enough for the size dolls I sew for.

Anyhow--enough obsessing about that for now.

On with the TO DO list of the day.

  • Do laundry
  • Do dishes
  • Sweep and scrub kitchen
  • Sack up garbage and haul it to the porch to be taken out tomorrow afternoon.
  • Vacuum the LR and DR
  • clean bathroom (ugh--it's filthy)
  • put the dolls back on the shelves in the bedroom
  • sort through all the stuff in the basket on my bed.
  • refill pill caddies
  • bag up pop bottles for Susie for Tyler.
  • Make some kind of food that I can eat throughout the week.

That should be plenty for one day.

ARG.

I'd also like to play a couple of games of scrabble with Peter.  DeAnn will be gone to Gus's birthday party today.  Who knows what the stalker will be up to.

*sigh*

I'm sure she will call a dozen times today--minimum.

I'm at school; it is 9:45. I was actually here at about 9 am, but I spent some time talking to Mary in her room. Now I am in my own room, getting ready to actually get down to business.

I stopped at Erdman's on my way in to pick up bread and sandwich meat and salad dressing for school. I also got some candy and some diet root beer and some cheetohs. You know. The healthy food groups.

I sorted through my mail yesterday and tossed out all the junk mail. Today I am going to go through the bills and get them ready to pay. I have checks from one of my credit cards--and a $10,000 credit limit. I've decided that I am going to pay everything and put a check from the credit card into my bank account to cover what I don't have money for. And maybe enough extra to buy a new bra and a new pair of shoes that do not hurt my feet.

I'm going to do that FIRST.

The rest of the items don't really matter so long as they get done. This is my AT SCHOOL LIST only.

(1) Pay bills
(2) Enter attendance into JMC program.
(3) Clear off desk and organize piles.
(4) Correct all work in the basket.
(5) Get stuff lined up for each class until at least Wednesday.
(6) Put grades into the computer.
(7) Xerox off materials that I need for the week.

That should be plenty for one day. If I finish it up early enough, I will go to see the movie "The Transporter" on my way home. The stalker wants to see another movie today, but she was so fucking irritating last night, that I feel I've had my quota of her for the weekend.

She has to talk so LOUD--and she is all into "her angels" and the "colors of their wings" now. Gah.

And she repeats herself ten thousand times. It was irritating enough the first seventeen times.

I was trying to tell a story--and she kept blaring over the top of me every four words. It was maddening.

Well, I have to get to work now. If I bitched about everything she did that irritated me, I don't think I'd ever stop writing.

ARG.

Oh--and just another bit of joyful news--The dental work I have to have done is going to cost $675.00--my responsibility for that is $334.30. ARG.

Fuck.

No wonder I keep dreaming these weird dreams. I had more last night, but it will take over an hour to tell it, so I guess I'll wait until I get home.

Tah.

I stumbled across this live journal community in my travels:  http://www.livejournal.com/community/_lifemakeovers/  I'm sticking its url in my journal so I can keep track of it.  Otherwise I'll add it to my favorites and forget its purpose and that it is even there.

I read a few of the entries and their community guidelines.  I have the Cheryl Richardson book and have started reading it (about ten times).  I never see to be able to get it read because I need someone to talk about it with.  It seems like I get ten times the value out of something if I can discuss it with another person.

DeAnn and I used to get together regularly on Saturdays to do our "self-improvement/self-discovery" discussions.  We read tons of books and discussed them, and it was always helpful.

It would be cool to have an on-line community that you could discuss this stuff with.  Sometimes I think it is easier to be brutally honest with myself and others on line than it is in real life because the chance of the on-line people being able to use the information to hurt you later is almost non-existant.  This isn't to say that I've never been hurt by on-line friends.  Once you care about someone, you automatically make yourself vulnerable.  If you didn't care about them, they could not hurt you.

In their guidelines it said their group was limited to 20, and I counted their members, and they have 20, so it is probable that they will not allow me to join.  But, it was worth a shot.

I noticed that several of them are involved in Flylady.  I've been getting the emails, but I've just been slamming them into a file mostly.  I've been too absorbed by other stuff lately.

I have put in my Rufus Wainwright CD.  I will stay on line until it is done playing, then I have to go downstairs, eat some breakfast, and do the laundry.  While the laundry is going, I have to clean up the kitchen and sack up the garbage.  I see that the last dregs of my raspberries have gone moldy.  Sigh.  I bought some ice cream so that I could have raspberries and ice cream.  But, I still have four boxes in the freezer.

I wish I could go get another bucket of raspberries.  They will be delicious in the winter.

Just need to list my goals for the day to get them clear in my head

Goals for the day:

  • Laundry
  • Clean out refrigerator
  • Sweep and scrub kitchen
  • Clear off clutter on counters
  • Get garbage bags and gasoline from the gas station.
  • Sack up garbage
  • Balance checkbook, pay bills
  • Pack bag for overnight to mom's tomorrow.
  • Continue to work on the mess and clutter upstairs.

I feel quite honored to be one of the four people Nate chose to allow to access his LiveJournal.  I'm glad that he is going to be looking seriously at some of his issues and really digging into him.

He is such a neat kid.  (Yes, yes--I know he is a young MAN, but they are all kids to elderly old me.)

All those punkins from Cleveland are sweet and adorable.

I would like to hug them all tight.

:)

Well, I better get the lead out of my arse and get through the rest of my sites.  When the Rufus CD is done playing, I have to get some work done.  EEK.
