An Update

Man, this week was BUSY and CRAZY.

Five whole days.  Bleah.

It snowed on Tuesday.  Everyone, myself included was really pumped up for the possibility of a serious snow with a snow day for Wednesday.  Sadly, the rain lasted longer than it should have and the snow, though it was quite impressive looking as it fell, turned out to be only enough to make the highway sloppy and icy but not soppy and icy enough to even bring about a late start in my neck of the woods.

It was quite disappointing.

Something was wrong with my yahoo email account from Sunday night until Wednesday evening.  It was impossibly slow.  The damn thing would only let me look at one or two messages, then it would freeze--sigh.  If I tried to respond to any messages, the damn thing would freeze.  It was a massive pain in the ass.

I stayed at school on Wednesday until I had gotten through every one of my over 300 emails.  I didn't respond to many--I was busy trying to get through them all, in case there was something important in any of them.

I survived Thursday and Friday.  There's been a ton of work, and I am behind in my correcting.  I got a good start towards getting caught up on Friday, but I left it all at school and headed out with Susie after school.  I don't think I will even go in tomorrow to work on it.  In fact I know I won't as I've made plans to meet my mom in Owatonna tomorrow at 12:45 so we can go and see I Walk the Line with Joaquim Phoenix as Johnny Cash.  The previews look EXCELLENT.

When I got home on Friday night, Ingrid and I went to supper at the China Buffet--the walnut shrimp was fabulous.  Then we met DeAnn at the theater to see Harry Potter.  The theater was so packed that we could not all sit together.  Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was EXCELLENT.  It was cute to see so many of the kids in the audience in costume.

I think it is really neat that the Harry Potter books have caught the imagination of the kids so much that they are wanting to "live" it in their own way.

Of course there is no way that the movie could have included everything from the book--but I wish they could have gone into the Rita Skeeter/Hermoine Granger battle of the minds.  I enjoyed that so much in the book.

It's amazing how grown up the little actors who play the parts are.  I LOVE the little boy who plays Ron.  He is so cute in his facial expressions.  And I really like the boys who play the Weasley twins also.

After the movie, we went to Daniels for "coffee"--I had hot chocolate--and dessert.  I had this thing called a "Volcano"--it was amaziingly rich and delicious.  But I think I've got a sugar hangover atm because I've had a head ache all day.

When I got home, it was late.  Ingrid gave me about a hour long lecture on how my glass is half full in the car--all because I said continuing to live in this shitty little town is like being forced to sit across the table from the guy who repeatedly raped and beat you EVERY DAY for five years.  She just doesn't understand how sometimes it is necessary to break away and make a fresh start.

I need to be renewed by getting out of this town.

Today I have got a lot done already.  I slept in till about 10 as I was soooo tired.  When I got up, I cleaned the area between my bed and the door--including the huge stack of stuff sitting next to my bed.  I sacked up two bags of trash put away a bunch of fabric, and generally tidied up around the bedroom.  I got all my laundry and upstairs garbage down stairs.

Then I went downstairs.  I heated up some left over pizza for lunch, sorted laundry, did dishes, started the laundry, folded the white clothes that had been in the dryer, and began vacuuming along the baseboards of the dining room.  As I did that, I dusted the bottoms of things.

DeAnn and Jim came over and Jim fixed the thresholds of my doors and DeAnn vacuumed my living room and dining room and dusted.  She said that would be her birthday present to me.  I gave her a bunch of flower pots that I will no longer need since I murdered the plants that used to live in them through neglect.  I also gave her a very pretty vase that I bought at a garage saale a long time ago.

When they left, I brought up my two baskets of clean laundry.  The whites are folded and ready to put away, but the darks need to be hung.  So of course, I have chosen to come on here instead and give an update.

The only thing I have left to say is that I am HORRIBLY tired at the moment.

I just want to sleep.

But I have lots more to do before I can.

SIGH
