Seriously, I have no reason to fear or dread conferences as my parents as well as my students love me.  (No brag, just fact.)

But still, I *HATE* conferences--especially the Thursday ones.  We send the kids home at noon.  Then we are stuck in school until 8 pm, supposedly.  In fact, it is usually 9 pm because their is always some asshat that shows up at exactly 8 pm and stays for 45 minutes, expecting all the teachers to wait to talk to him/her.  What is WRONG with people like that?  Is it stupidity, or just mindless conviction of their own importance?  After being in school from 6:30 (because I always go in early to get the room tidied up) til 8 pm, I'm almost ready to go insane and pull people's ears off.

Usually, not many people come to conferences until after 3 pm, which is okay--it gives me some time to get my desk cleaned off, correct papers, and prepare some lessons.  It also gives me some time to surf the internet, clean out files, and do whatever.

Today, I am bringing my sewing box and some fabric.  I am hoping to accomplish two things, beyond the shitload of school things I hope to accomplish.  The first is to finish Jeanne Mari's autumn swap.  It is almost done now.  I just have to finish sewing on the trim of the dress and make the matching undies.  The second thing is to prepare Piper's wardrobe and accessories for her trip to Louisiana.  I also have to put together the little "Night Before Christmas" coloring/story books I have all made but for assembling them for her "gift" to the other "children" attending.

I'll post pictures of her when I get her ready to go.  I want to get her sent out ASAP before I space it and she gets sent too late to be involved in the party.

That's about it for me, for now.  It is almost 6:10 and I was gonna be out the door before 6, so GGRRRR.

I'll no doubt make another post sometime today as I'm sure I will be bored stiff sitting in my room waiting for people to show up.

Sigh.

I'm having a bit of problem locating a hat pattern, but I'd love a pretty multi-colored scarf if you're still interested:) The idea of wearing something someone made (vs machine) is very cool;>

Cool.

My email is cho_chiyo@yahoo.com Send me your snail address and I will send you a lovely hand crocheted scarf. How long and wide would you like it?

It will be a bit because I have some other irons in the fire, but I can have it to you before Christmas, most likely.

:D

Oh, that's fine. I like it not Dr. Who length, more like Shelly Hack in those charlie commercials, isn't that helpful? 4 inches wide, does that sound right, or 6? and long enough to drape mid back... I'm just terrible at this sort of thing, aren't I? It's because I have no idea what the usual scarf width and lenght is.

My favorite scarf is 7 ft. long and 12 in. wide - but I live in the frozen tundra of Snow Belt, New York, where you wrap the things 4 times around your head and neck. ; )

Lol, maybe half that then? Although anything is cold compared to NOLA!

You are so sweet to do this, sorry to be so spacy about it, I wish I did know more about knitting.

Speaking of whatever...I was just checking out your latest posting and thought I would send a hello. Oh, by the way, it is Pat. We had a very difficult week at school. Irrational and abusive parent tried to intimidate us into helping him CONTROL his 9th grade daughter. Last time I checked the planet earth rule book it said I am not obligated to assist an abusive parent torment his helpless daughter. I must say I did get a little short with him...to which he tried to bully me...but guess what...it didn't work. Then mister you know who yelled at me...with a big old "I'll tell you what" etc. Ah....teaching is so rewarding, isn't it?

Oh, sweet lord.

I am not at all surprised.

Mr. Troll should get down on his knees and thank whatever dark and horrible god he worships that I am not homocidal or he would SO be missing his liver and other internal organs!!!

You documented all that, right?

I've decided you should start gathering data and sue that fucking place as a hostile work environment. You KNOW you would win, hands down. I will come back and testify for you, and I know Anne would, and probably Chalkboy would as well.

Someone NEEDS to nail that little fucker to the wall.

I'll call later, as I am dying to know who the crazy parent is. Anyone I'd know?
