Friday Saturday Sunday
May. 7th, 2007 11:14 amFriday
I worked hard on Friday to get my correcting done--and I did. Mostly. I have a few more compositions that I need to correct--I brought them home with me over the weekend, but I didn't do them. Nothing too memorable happened at school on Friday. It was good that it was Friday AND payday. I really wanted to see a movie, but I needed to get home to get the check in the bank.
I talked to my sister Kim on my cell phone on my trip home from school. I told her I was distraught because I just did not want to go to Caleb's birthday party on Saturday. I was so tired--and I had just filled my car with $3.00/gallon gas, costing me $40.00 to fill my freaking tank. All week long I had wanted to dig into cleaning my house again--like I did last weekend. I got so much done--and I just didn't want to sacrifice a whole weekend for the sake of a birthday party that I would not enjoy anyhow.
So I talked to Kim about it. She said she was not going either. She is still miffed about Easter, and also, it was Lucas's birthday on Friday, and she was taking him and some of his friends paintballing on Saturday.
I also talked to DeAnn on the cell while I was traveling home. She and Jim were on their way home from the cities pulling their little trailer with all their new bedroom furniture in it. The traffic was bad, it was raining, and Jim was worried about the trailer. DeAnn said, "Things are very tense in this vehicle." So we chatted a while, then she had to be a spotter so Jim could change lanes.
I asked them to call me when they got home so I knew they had survived.
After putting my check in the bank, I went to the post office--I was thrilled to see that my new Marley with the brown eyes had arrived. No pictures have been taken yet, but I will take some tonight, maybe. I'm calling her Grace. The dolls that Bratty (internet nickname) sent me arrived too. One was a Tiny Kitty and the other a "Doll of the World" (France). I'll have to take pictures of them too--right now they are both naked. And I have to sew them something to wear as well. Poor little things. The patterns I bought on Ebay also arrived. One for "Riley" (my sophie) and two for "Brenda Starr" who is still languishing without a name. "Eleanor" is looking like a good possibility. She looks regal and proper yet spirited. So Eleanor of Acquitane would be a good name inspiration for her.
I don't recall what else I did in my house--I may have washed some dishes.
I didn't know what to eat for supper--my food stash had dwindled down to practically nothing. Alas. Finally I decided I would order a pizza--so I called Jim and DeAnn to see if they would like to come over for pizza too. They were interested, so I called Country Pizza in Dodge Center and ordered a vegetarian pizza on cheese/garlic crust and pineapple and canadian bacon on wheat crust. Both kinds were absolutely yummy.
We must have been hungry because we ate all but three pieces. Those I had for lunch on Saturday. Jim and DeAnn no doubt built up an appetite trying to get all their furniture up into their upstairs. I can hardly wait to see it. Maybe they will let me take pictures and show them here. Hee hee. I'm sure everyone would like to see.
We sat around and watched Law and Order (or similar shows). The "tippy head guy" was in one--and the guy with the three daughters and the long sad face was in another.
They left around nine, and I was so tired that I went up and went to bed. I was on the internet for a while, and had a pretty serious discussion with DK who is concerned because on the weekends I don't seem able to get my butt downstairs to test my blood, take my meds and eat breakfast. He is determined to torment me into doing it properly all the time. Sigh.
Saturday
I was tired and didn't really feel that great on Saturday. I watched a little bit of television--watched two or three episodes of Bonanza on TV Land and of course some HGTV. I cut out "Mother's Day" outfits for Eleanor, Grace, Claire, and Sophie (and also Annalee, though she will not arrive until sometime this summer). I made them all out of complimentary fabrics. Some of it was the cool "hippie" looking flower pattern that I used a lot of on Matthew's quilt. And I used a nice spring green to compliment it. I have started to sew one of the dresses, but I didn't finish any of them. I had hoped to sit on the sofa and sew at some point on Saturday night or Sunday, but I didn't.
I never left the house on Saturday.
I spent a couple of hours in the afternoon napping on my bed and cuddling my cat.
Late Saturday night, I had to deal with some drama. Kim B did some stupid stuff and took an overdose of Zybexa (?) She went to the emergency room of the hospital but would not go in. She did tell the name of the hospital, so I looked it up online and called their emergency room and told them. They said they were not allowed to go out and drag her out of the car and suggested I call the police. I told them I was in Minnesota. (Kim B lives in Chicago.) So they sent security out to try and find her.
It was quite a bruhaha. DK and Tana were working on the situation from Utah. Finally, Tana got ahold of Kim's mom, and they went looking for her.
I didn't get to sleep till about 3 am. And I had set the alarm for 7 am Sunday.
Sunday
I felt like absolute shit on Sunday morning--but I got up anyhow. I like to get groceries early in the mornings on the weekends so that I don't have to deal with the crowds of people. I decided to get my groceries at Walmart. Mainly because Kim and I had discussed meeting at Perkins for breakfast. I had PROMISED DK I would eat breakfast and take my meds and stuff first thing in the morning--so I had a bowl of oatmeal and a glass of orange juice. I figured if I met Kim, I'd have a strawberry waffle--but after I got done shopping and called her, she said she was tired and had too much to do. So, I just went home.
When I got home, I knew if I didn't dig right in, I'd crash and burn due to my lack of sleep. So, I began by cleaning out the refrigerator--I even wiped off some of shelves. There was not a ton of stuff that went bad in there this week. Probably because I was so poor and desperate that I ate it all. Ha ha. I did have to throw away a full bag of carrots--they had gone nasty in the drawer and were all squishy and black and made sort of a milky icky gloop in the bottom of the bag. That was very disappointing.
After that was done, I sorted my laundry and got it started. I only had two loads this time--and the bathroom rug that the danged cat had puked on. I should have washed my bedding, but the cat was in it when I got up--so I just left it.
Next, I did a lot of food preparation. I cleaned and sliced up the box of strawberries I had bought and put them in individual serving containers--all ready to grab and eat or take to school for lunch. Then I washed the grapes, picked them off their stems, and put them into snack sized zip lock bags in individual serving sizes. The last fruit I prepared was a cantaloupe. I peeled and sliced it and put it in small containers too. I ate a few pieces of cantaloupe and strawberries as I got them organized.
I was feeling really hungry for that spam sandwich spread that my mom makes. So, I bought a can of "Light" spam ( half the fat of regular spam) and used my little chopping machine to chop up a couple of pickles, about half an onion, three boiled eggs and the can of spam. I mixed it all up with a little Miracle Whip and made it into a sandwich spread. Oh, man, it is sooooo good. My mouth is watering right now, thinking about it.
I've thrown away soooo many bags of lettuce that it is ridiculous. So, yesterday, I divided the shredded lettuce into four small square food boxes then cut up tomatoes, celery, and cucumbers. Then I sprinkled a tablespoon of sunflower seeds on top. Now those salads are just READY to grab and eat--either for a meal at home or at school.
I did the dishes and cleaned up after my food prep messes, then mixed up a envelope of cornbread muffin mix. I really really wanted to go sit in the recliner for a while, but I knew if I did, I'd fall asleep and the cornbread muffins would be ruined. So, I made myself an ice cream bucket of hot water and chlorox clean up and took everything out of the cupboard where I keep my food. I threw away some boxed stuff that expired in 2003. Sigh. I scrubbed out the cupboard then wiped down everything and put it back in--only neatly and in an organized way.
I took the muffins out of the oven and set them on a box to cool.
Since I was already down on the floor and still had a mostly clean bucket of water, I opened the cupboard under the sink. EWwwwwwwww.
I can't even begin to tell you how NASTY it was. I did not even want to touch anything in there, it was so gross. But, my friend Theresa from Jersey called me on my cell phone, so while talking to her, I cleaned it all out. The stupid plumber who replaced the pipes never swept out the bits of wood and stuff that he messed up drilling holes. It took probably a half an hour just to scrub all the filth out of there. Then I wiped down every cleaning supply that was in there and put them back in neatly. I threw a lot of crap away. Icky.
Between the food cupboard and the one under the sink, I threw a whole big orange garbage bag of crap away.
I really wish I had thought to take a "before" picture. You wouldn't believe the difference it made. I DID take "after" pictures of both cupboards, just cuz....AND, then, because it was so unbelievably gross, I took a picture of the dirty mop bucket water--just to chronical the event.

There's the food cupboard. I even stacked all the same foods together. Hee hee. I've become so anal.

Here is the under the sink cupboard. I wish you could have seen it before. Though....it might have given you nightmares.

There's the cleaning water--so filthy that I think I am going to throw that rag away. Yuck.
I'm going to have three big bags of garbage to put out on the curb on Tuesday. I really got rid of a lot of junk.
Not much else got accomplished on Sunday--I finished my laundry and put away my whites. The darks are still in the dryer. I'll have to deal with them tonight. I didn't get the kitchen floor swept and scrubbed last night, so tonight, after supper, I am going to attempt to get that done.
And there is my current update. *whew* I've got to get back to writing daily entries instead of trying to play catch-up.

You call that a dirty bucket?
Date: 2007-05-09 05:10 am (UTC)The house is old. I have a dog. I work. And I'm a lousy housekeeper.
Congrats on keeping Saturday for yourself.
I should have spend Sunday posting more stuff on eBay. At least I did take pictures and they are ready to post with the auctions but I have to write them up.
I got an offer to fly to Salinas (Monterey) to speak at a conference on the same topic I did at the CUE conference in March. Apparently they can't find anyone else. They're willing to fly me there, rent me a car and pay me $200. Wow. I feel so important. I won't know if it's a go until I talk to the guy tomorrow on the phone. I have a masters paper due on Friday and the final next Tuesday...then I'm free to work on my presentation. I sure want to give them their money's worth.
