I feel slightly better today--at least I am resigned to my fate and not struggling against it.

I slept in very late--and sleep is always a good thing.

I then wrote this up--as some marketing research amongst my doll collecting friends.

*************************

Greetings, doll collecting friends!

With your help, I would like to do a little research on people’s dollie desires.

I would like to start selling some of my things--either on eBay or on some other on-line place--but I don’t want to saturate the market by offering what lots of other people are offering.

My special love is sewing for the children dolls--especially vintage skipper, but I love to sew for Tutti, Hermoine, Ron, and Harry (from the first set), Stacie, Kelly, and even Liddle Kiddles and Krissy. I also sew for teen skipper and francie. (I sew for Barbie too--but I think there are so MANY people sewing for Barbie, that there is really no need for my stuff on the market.) I also like to sew for Ken and Kevin and the other male dolls.

If no one minds, I would like to ask a few questions for the sake of data gathering purposes. Regardless of how the information returns to me--I will still sew what I LOVE to sew. It would just be very nice if there was an interest and a perceived need for what I love to sew!

Here are my questions:

What (if any) dolls do you think have a need for more clothing and accessories?

Which of the following types of clothing would you be interested in?

“Fancy” clothes --suits, evening gowns, frilly dresses, party type attire

“Wedding clothes” -- flower girl outfits, junior bridesmaids, tuxedoes, bridal gowns

“Sunday School” clothes--clothes suitable for church occasions.

“School Clothes” --clothes that little girls and boys would wear to school.

“Play Clothes” --clothes for the rough and tumble or for adventures in the park or woods or back yard

“Bedtime Clothes”--pjs, night gowns, robes

“Winter Clothes”--coats, jackets, caps, scarves, stocking caps, sweaters

“Mix-n-match Clothes”--several items (blouses, skirts, pants, shirts) that share a “palette” and can be mixed and matched (Like GRRANIMALS for children)

“Let’s Pretend” clothes--playtime costumes (pirates, cowboys, princesses and princes, spacemen and aliens, super heroes)

“Undies” Let’s face it--there are never enough underpants to go around! Would sets with a variety of colored undies be something people would be interested in?

“Holiday Clothes”--special clothing for New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas

What kind of accessories do you wish you had?

(Here are a couple of examples of things which I’ve either made or have ideas to make)

School folders with actual homework in them

Readable children’s books

“Barbie scale” paper dolls for the children to play with

Realistic toys made of fimo or wood

Puzzles and games

Book bags

Backpacks

What “food” for the Barbie scale do you wish you had?

In the food line, are you more interested in one serving plate with the meal on it, or in individual plates with the servings on them for the family members? And how many plates of food should come in a set?

In the furniture line--what furniture is most needed?

How do you feel about plastic canvas furniture?

That’s all I can think of for the moment, but I’ll ask more questions if they come to me. I hope it isn’t too forward of me to ask these things--but I figured EVERYONE who makes things could benefit from the information--not just me!

*****************************

I figure that gathering some data is better than just rushing blindly into something.  I know that people are making money selling barbie clothing on ebay and in other places.  I have enough fabric to cloth a third world nation--and I can get lots more, often at no cost to myself, from other people who sew and have scraps that are big enough for the size dolls I sew for.

Anyhow--enough obsessing about that for now.

On with the TO DO list of the day.

  • Do laundry
  • Do dishes
  • Sweep and scrub kitchen
  • Sack up garbage and haul it to the porch to be taken out tomorrow afternoon.
  • Vacuum the LR and DR
  • clean bathroom (ugh--it's filthy)
  • put the dolls back on the shelves in the bedroom
  • sort through all the stuff in the basket on my bed.
  • refill pill caddies
  • bag up pop bottles for Susie for Tyler.
  • Make some kind of food that I can eat throughout the week.

That should be plenty for one day.

ARG.

I'd also like to play a couple of games of scrabble with Peter.  DeAnn will be gone to Gus's birthday party today.  Who knows what the stalker will be up to.

*sigh*

I'm sure she will call a dozen times today--minimum.

And I've accomplished very little.

I did finish the laundry and get the huge amount of dishes piled in the sink washed and the poor dessicated plants watered, but that's about it.

I beat Peter's arse twice in scrabble!

Yay for me!!

I've decided that I'm going to try to reclaim one room at a time.  This week it is going to be the kitchen, because it isn't really so bad in there.  The things that need to be dealt with in there are these:

  • sweep and scrub the kitchen floor
  • take everything off the counters, scrub them down.
  • Scrub everything that was ON the counters and put it back.
  • Scrub the stove.
  • Scrub the refrigerator--inside and out.
  • Clean out the freezer compartment of the refrigerator.
  • Reglue the kitchen chairs with wood glue.
  • Clean out the cupboards under the sink
  • Clean out the other cupboards
  • Wipe down the cupboards and shelves.
  • Get rid of excess crap.

The other room I'd like to deal with this week is the bedroom.  Mainly I'd like to get the clutter picked up and dealt with.

sigh.

At least all the dishes I had dragged up are out of there now.

And washed.

And the dirty clothes are out of there too...

When I go back up (which will be as soon as my lazy cat gets off my lap), I'll fold and put away the clean clothes.  The clothes that I tossed out of my drawers, I will put in a garbage sack to donate to charity later.

I'd really like to sew a little bit today....don't know if I will get to it.

I'd like to do a interchangeable pallet of clothing for a vintage skipper to show to my dollie friends to see what they think of it.  I'd also like to do a small wardrobe collection for vintage skipper to see what they thought of that.

The wardrobe, I think, would be a "Fall" season wardrobe, and would consist of these items:

  • two "school" dresses with matching undies
  • one "Sunday school" dress with matching undies
  • two "pants" outfits with shirts, pants, etc.
  • one set of pajamas with slippers
  • coat with hat and scarf

As far as accessories to go with the wardrobe, I think I'd include a school bag with folders containing homework and pencils (maybe a book), a bed buddie like a teddy bear or rabbit or doll, and maybe a yoyo or something....
